A nightmare from start to finish. Paid contractor to do work above to help daughter with new baby. Mark said he would complete work before my family moved from apartment. He accepted payment, began work by doing demo and then did nothing for weeks. Family with infant had to move in with baby 6 weeks later and it took months after that to have a working kitchen or bath. Plumbing work was shoddy, electrical work substandard, and several old cabinets that he said he would renovate were destroyed by his shoddy work. After quoting job he would go days to weeks without communicating with my daughter, my son in law or me except when he wanted to be paid and then he would show up without warning loudly knocking at the door at 0700-0800 hrs, waking the infant and my daughter and acting menacing. I paid him off despite him not doing anything to our satisfaction just out of fear. Gas line to hot water tank leaks, work is not done to code. i have e mail saying permit was not needed when it was. flex hoses near hot water tank have to be replaced per city. Lead paint trim around windows was disturbed and then reapplied even though he said he would replace. 6 months have gone by since his three week job turned into a six month flail and cabinets and fixtures are coming apart and we have had to pay others and will continue to have to do so to correct his mistakes. just discovered that he destroyed plaster wall behind refrigerator to install water line, did not repair, and left wall outlet dangling and asbestos containing old vermiculite insulation exposed. refrigerator was put on a gfi circuit w/o informing homeowner. Beware consumer.

"I contacted client immediately on 4/28/15 stating I would like to meet him at property to look at the items & make repairs to his satisfaction. He declined this offer & only wanted to communication thru Angie's List process. After a couple of emails requesting factual/correct information from the client, he chooses not to comply & provided only miss leading information. To mediate I had had to fill out "Angie's List Service Provider Complaint Resolution Form" and attached 37 pages of documents, including 7 pages of explained, proposal contracts, invoices, statements & facts regarding client's complaints. By law I have 1st right to remedy to claim. Many of his comments were derogatory & false not to mention he filed this complaint almost a year after work was completed approx. 7/8/14 and he completed a final walk thru with me & paid for job in full. It's hard validating all the items he mentioned considering he waited so long to comment or contact someone."

The services at the time appeared to be great. However, 7 years later, now trying to sell my house and have discovered by the buyer's professional home inspection that the roofing is missing the kick out flashing on the vertical walls of my siding and has caused $20,000 of mold damage to my attic, crawlspaces and deck! I am unable to sell my house as buyers cannot get the loan approved until these repairs are made. Now, it's too late to contact Mark about any of this as the warranty was one year and it is 7 years later, but this is to heed a warning to others that it may occur to their houses unknowingly if a minor $2 piece of sheet metal is skipped. Hindsight, very disappointed.

"(Member name removed) It would have been nice if you contacted me (Marks Construction) regarding the issue with your roof. After reviewing my files, I have it noted that you hired a different company to do the roof on your home. I would hope that you still have your invoice from that company. If you do not please contact me so I can provide you with some information since I do not feel it is my responsibility to investigate or make negative comments based on another company that may be at fault. I have 4 invoices for the work I completed on your home dated 8/2/2007 #1324, 9/12/2007 #1336, 12/22/2007 #1389, and 5/9/2008 #1440. My company was contracted to do the siding work, paint the exterior, have new carpet installed, not the roof. On the invoice #1440 which was completed in May 2008 it states the following (touch up paint from roofers). I have a copy of a email that is dated 4/16/08 & 4/28/08 that states you are going to have another company do the roof, which was approx. 7 months after the siding was installed. To the best of my knowledge I didn’t even give you a proposal on doing the roof. In hindsight, I wish you would of contacted me directly before making your comments on Angie's List 4/30/14. I have been in business since 1997 and regard customer service is number one priority and would have gladly discussed this issue in detail to figure out the facts. I would appreciate your consideration by revising your derogative comments about my company considering I am still in business and feel you did not approach this matter effectively."

Very happy with quality of work. Used drapes when necessary, cleaned up every day, did basic pruning of plants away from home. Workers arrived on time and owner visited site every day. Would use again for painting and remodeling services.

Mark and his team did an excellent and professional job , came up with good ideas which we adopted and everything was completed within the agreed time frame.
Mark is scheduled to clean and apply an oil treatment to all the new decks, fences and wooden walls next year when the weather is good. That had been planned for October this year but as agreed, was postponed due to Mark being involved in a car accident.
We expect to ask Mark to quote us for two other remodeling projects next year:
1) increase in size of kitchen and fitting of new kitchen units, work tops, sink and faucet etc.
2) creation and fitting out of a en-suite shower room/WC from the main bedroom
We highly recommend Mark and it was a pleasure to have Mark and his team at our house.

It went okay. He came right out. He replaced one of the vents because there was a leak in a portion of my roof and it was coming from one of the air vents and the roof was cracked, so he replaced it. It was great.

We experienced some leaking from an upstairs window during all the recent rain storms. Mike was working in the area and stopped by our house to take care of the problem. He was right on time, polite, friendly, explained the issue at hand and took care of it without charging us for it!! A truly wonderful guy:)

They have a reasonable price. The thing that I really like about the service is the attention to details and things about the cabinets. He doesn't put 48 hours job, he just work 6 hours a day.

Its one thing for everyone to be happy when the job is completed
Its quite another when a year later a minor problem develops and the contractor
takes complete care of you and goes out of his way to make sure the repair is more than a repair and is just like new!
I am a somewhat distrustful ex-new yorker who can assure you that based on my experiences with mark's construction you
are assured of dealing with a business that will make sure you are completely satisfied
Mark and his crew are an example of a classy operation that I look forward to
doing business with again
Thank you for a first rate job!!!!!

The siding was difficult to find. We were told by several contractors that they could not match it, but Mark did some searching and found a perfect match and did an excellent job replacing everything. The siding he found cost more than he quoted, but he did not charge us for the additional amount.

Our garage was falling apart, except for the roof, which I had replaced a few years ago. It needed new siding, and areas of it were so rotted out that about a quarter of it required reframing. Some bidders suggested razing it and rebuilding. I could see their point, but I didn't think we needed to go that far. Our garage, like many in our neighborhood, is a glorified garden shed. We wanted it to be structurally sound and aesthetically presentable, and we wanted to do that without rebuilding. Given those parameters, Mark came in with a bid that was on the low end, plus he seemed to describe a quite thorough makeover.

It's been over a year since the work was done, and the garage looks just as good as the day he finished. I should add that we've never worked with any other contractor on a job of this size who always made a point of being there at appointed times or else calling to explain why not, and letting you know when exactly to expect him. The whole job--reframing, plywood siding, Tyvek, cedar siding over all that, and painting--took about 10 days. We subsequently called him back to put in a bathroom fan. A tiny job, yes, but the job was done and cleaned up completely within an hour. And yes, he showed up exactly when he said he would and charged exactly what he had bid for that job, too.

Showed up to give estimate, explained work, work was thorough and professional. I hired him twice - 1st time to replace siding - he hunted all over to match - couldn't find exact match, but gave me the choice of same color, different texture or slightly different color, same texture. Second time to wash (2 story) house and paint the trim. Scraped, applied two coats - actually received a compliment from a neighbor. Recommended him to another neighbor. Will hire him again if I need to without hesitation.
