The project started out a bit slow with a lot of waiting on building permits and the structural engineer.  After the permits were issued Majo and his crew got to work.  The first week was somewhat raining but they kept working.  His lead carpenters are excellent.  They, like Majo, know there stuff.  They built things the way they were suppose to be built.  They did not cut corners.  Several times Majo would approach me and explain what they ran into.  He would propose ways to deal with the issues that came up.  And his ideals were good.  The last contractor I hired would have just covered up the issue so they could get out of there quicker.  
The project was a great success.  Excellent workmanship.  I am totally happy with the results and I would not hesitate to hire them again.

contractor installed windows. one window was incorrect size and at first he didn't want to take responsibility to pay for and install the replacement. in the end he did but it took some time and discussion. 

majo was on-site to do measuring of windows - but after checking two or three windows, chose to use the numbers that a first window installer had taken and left at our house. before ordering the windows i called and emailed to double check and make sure we should use those numbers - he said yes, go with those numbers. so the measurements were his responsibility.

the worst part was that he broke his contract and did not finish the work. his contract stated that he would paint all exterior window frames but he did not do the work. his position was that since he had to pay for and install the mis-measured window he should not have to finish the contracted work.

in the end majo seems to have a problem with admitting fault and taking responsibility, and having no problem with breaking his own contracts. if there is an option he seems to always move in a way that will benefit himself, even if it comes at the cost of a paying customer. he is able to do decent work, but you can probably find a more reasonable contractor.

I had called several contractors off the top of the List. Majo was the third to come inspect the site, and the only one both capable and available to do the work. His design was also the most cost-effective and aesthetically promising. I was able to schedule the work within a few weeks. Majo was responsive and professional about scheduling. The wall needed to be done before heavy rains set in. Majo designed, scheduled and managed the project. We went over the project on inspection and on the first day of work. That day Majo joined his crew for a full days work. They excavated the shrubbery below the deck and set up the frame for the stairs. When this was done, we revised the plan for a more elegant design against the existing structure. His foreman, Elmer oversaw the rest of the job days. Weather and other issues caused the job to take a few extra days and some additional materials, yet the cost did not exceed the original estimate. The whole job took about a week. When it was all done, the result was beautiful, clean and solid. The deck had always had a downward cast of about 2° After completion, I asked Majo about addressing this issue and he sent Elmer back to the site- after a day and a half of work, the deck was level, and I was only asked to consider contributing the cost of the materials. The crew was friendly and knowledgeable. I believe I got more than my money's worth, so I am happy to write a good review. When I have remodeling to do, I will call Majo Ahrens Construction. I have already recommended them to friends.

Awesome.  Majo and his crew are incredibly professional.  His prices were fair and the quality of the work was amazing: very solid construction!

It went well. There were obstacles discovered along the way byt they kept coming back until everyhting was correct and complete.

Majo was fast to respond to my inquiry, reasonably priced, scheduled quickly, showed up on time, and did an excellent job. Great experience with a nice, polite, professional, knowledgable person. We will definitely be using him for future projects. Thank you, Majo!

Each job was done separately but he was willing to come back to do more work after we were pleased with the work done. His rates were reasonable and he was able to problem solve as unepected repairs were needed.

They installed vapor barrier in my crawl space and reconnected and insulated duct work. I needed the work completed immediately and they did a great job!

He's very good. He was really quick. The price is good. He has good ideas. He's hardworking. He's done something for us before and he checked on his previous work just to see if it was still good.

I would strongly recommend Majo for many reasons including the following:
He is does very high quality work and is honest and fair.  He has great ideas and is a creative problem solver.    

Majo and his team (Elmer, Charlie, Felipe) were easy to have around and I had no worries about them being the house while I was gone etc. 

Every large project will have at least one little thing go wrong.  The test of any contactor is how he handles it.  When we had an issue with a sink install he was very responsive and quickly resolved the problem.

Majo will always be my first call for any remodeling projects or questions.

Prompt and capable general contractor for remodel work.  Communication/expectation differences with the finish work, punch lists and clean-up.  One significant problem that was taken care of right away.

As first time new home owners on a very tight budget our experience with Majo Ahens Construction was extremely pleasant. We don't have any regrets about using them as our contractor. Majo was extremely professional and very easy to get a hold of. He helped us come up with a solution to our problem on a budget that we were able to afford. The work was done well and in a timely manner. Couldn't ask for more...  I would recommend him to anyone I know!  Thanks again!

Some of the work he did that comes to mind right now:
- Demolition of the back of my house including part of the foundation.
- Excavation and building of new foundation (a big project in itself)
- Framing that included the new addition and some "found" space above the kitchen to be used as storage.
- Installing windows and doors (both interior and exterior).
- Supervising subcontractors, such as the sheetrockers.
- Providing guidance and practical tips around plumbing and electrical, which I had separated from the original bid.
- Coordinating changes in the plan with the architect and engineer.
- Finish carpentry including all trimwork
- Insulation to code.
- Installation of beautiful oak flooring with a environmentally friendly finish.
- In fact, the whole project was conducted in the most environmentally friendly way possible.
- Assistance with cabinetry installation.
- Probably a lot more that doesn't come to mind right now.

From beginning to end, the job ran as smoothly as possible.  Mayo's expertise and craftsmanship are reflected in the excellent results.  He and his crew show up on time, do the work they say they will do, clean up and leave a great impression.

Majo was easy to reach by phone, responsive, and punctual.  He understood immediately what we wanted and didn't try to talk us into more.  His estimate was considerably lower than the other two we obtained. Everything he said he would do he did.  He (and his assistant) did the work on time and on budget.  The bathroom looks great and I feel confident that the area where the rot occurred is well-sealed now.   He will be my first call if we need other work done, and I would certainly recommend him to others.

Working with Majo is an absolute pleasure because he is so professional and helpful.  His craftsmanship and attention to detail are the reasons I keep calling and keep referring him to friends.  Majo gives accurate estimates, shows up on time, problem solves, supervises his helpers, finishes the job when he says he will, and does superior work.  I am completely satisfied with all his work.

He is my favorite contractor and I can’t praise him enough.  He is fantastic and very reliable.  He comes when he says he would be here.  He listens exactly to what we want and he is very talented.  He handmade some pillars.  He mimicked some pillars to go along the banister.  Everybody who passes by, stop and look at it and they praise it.  It was reasonable priced.  He was a very skilled worker.  If I am planning on something and if I had only a partial idea, I can rely on him to come up with a view that I didn’t have already.  He is good at envisioning new projects.  He really worked with me on the price and I was able to pay him in installments and it was really nice.  He might not be like that with everybody, but he has done several projects for me.

Majo did an excellent job. He was great to work with, gave us an accurate timetable of the work, told us what to expect when, and kept us informed in the case of any delays. He was able to seal of the kitchen well from the rest of the house to cut down on excess dust, and he always kept the work areas clean. He is one of the best people we have ever worked with. Friends who had used Majo for their kitchen remodel recommended him, and we will recommend him to all of our friends.

We had some communication issues. He is not fan of having a very detailed contract, but that was not something I felt like I needed to advocate for. We needed to have a clearer contract. I would not recommend them to others.

Majo is a craftsman of the first caliber. Everything was completed on time. He and his crew show up on time, do the work as agreed, and clean up everything. I have chemical sensitivities so they take care to seal off the work areas. Every job I have contracted has exceeded my expectations.

They were timely and very clean. They came when they said they would. They are very good.

It went really well. I have an old 1912 craftsman style house and they pretty well gutted the kitchen and we pushed out one wall and took everything down to the studs. There was new wiring, plumbing, cabinets, everything. Majo was just great to work with. Of course with any big project some unforeseen things pop up and he was a great resource with his ideas and how to tackle problems and it turned out beautifully.
