Brought radiator in for repair estimate. Got estimate in fairly timely timeframe. Decided not to repair it. Didn’t know I would have to pay $45 to get my radiator back.

Age of the pickup was an issue - factory vs after market on some parts. Evan though the work was rather expensive my intention was to have the necessary done to keep the vehicle running properly. This was important because the rest of the pickup is set up for my particular needs. In checking with my Nissan dealership it seemed to me that they did not want to do the work, or even needed the work. There was not a lot of interest shown. I am pleased with Mac's in Beaverton,OR as my choice.

Driving to Arizona - 115 degrees. They took my car on very short notice and did as complete inspection. Car is OK - no further work needed. But really worth peace of mind!

Yesterday, I called Mac's in Beaverton late in the afternoon to get a price on a replacement radiator for my daughter's car and spoke with Brendan. We were about to start working on the car and, since Brendan said the store closed at 5pm, we didn't think we would have the old one out in time. He said he would set a radiator and cap aside for us and we could pick it up at 8am today. I wasn't going to be available to work on the car today, so my daughter and I decided we would have to get the radiator at one of the auto parts stores and, if they didn't have one in stock, have the one at Mac's as a backup.

Amazingly, my daughter and I got the radiator out quickly, so I called Mac's at 4:58pm. Brendan answered, I explained the situation and asked if we could run over and get the radiator - we were a couple of miles away - and he said he would wait for us. It took a few minutes to secure the tools and parts, then we fought rush-hour traffic to get to the shop. Brendan was there with the radiator and cap ready to go, we checked open the boxes to make sure we had what we needed, paid for it and were out the door in less than 10 minutes.

Throughout the whole episode, Brendan was cheerful, professional and friendly. Now, I am certainly not advocating calling Mac's at 4:59:59 to place an order, but I am extremely grateful to Brendan that he went the extra mile/half-hour for us. As I noted, we were prepared to get the radiator elsewhere, so I'm glad we were able to do business with Mac's and Brendan.

We would highly recommend Mac's Radiator.

We did get the new radiator (plus new hoses from one of the above-mentioned parts stores) installed and the car is up and running.

We just drove up to their shop because they were recommended by our local repair shop.  Our local repairman recommended them because they specialize in a/c systems, and he felt the job to complex for his shop.  Mac's staff, including the manager, Kyle, greeted us, looked and listened to our system, gave us an estimate, and advised it could be more if further repair was needed.

We set an appointment, delivered the car at 9 AM.  They called us about 2 hours later to advise it was needing further repair, and the parts would be in the next day.  The work was completed as they promised, and the manager, Kyle, was able to give us a discount due to a promotion they were running at the time.  They even replaced the engine belt that the a/c had damaged, and did not charge any additional labor.  We are very impressed with their professionalism.

Mac?s Radiator Service of Bend

I had the radiator in my 2006 Nissan Titan replaced by Mac's
Radiator Service in Bend, Oregon. They called, said it was ready, and when I
went to get it the rear bumper was bent into the right rear quarter panel.  They acted as though nothing had happened and
when I asked about it they pretended not to know anything about it.  The manager said, " Oh, did someone hit
it going by?" Long story short, Mac's denied responsibility.  The manager said he would have to talk to the
"Boss".  The manager said the
Boss offered to split the cost with me.
I refused to share the cost since the damage occurred while the vehicle
was in their custody.  I was handed the
phone to talk to the Boss  - 'Curtis'. I
explained to Curtis that I would have to file a police report if they were
going to deny responsibility.  I was then
told they would take care of it and was sent to a nearby Autobody repair shop
to get an estimate for them.  After
obtaining the estimate for the repairs I was told that Mac's would order a new
bumper and call me when it was in.  They
informed me that Mac's would send the Titan out for the body repair and install
the bumper themselves, even though they had never installed one before.  I had to call them a week later since I never
heard back from them.  I was told the
bumper had just arrived, and that I would need to leave the vehicle with them
for an indefinite length of time. At this time I explained that the Air
Conditioning was not working since they had replaced the radiator.  I was told that this was a coincidence and
that they were not responsible for it and that I would need to have it
recharged.  During all of the
conversations and discussions with the staff at Macs' during this issue they
were very rude and in denial.  Two weeks
later I got the Titan back, bumper replaced, body repaired, the AC still not
working.   I was told by the shop manager
that they were experts in AC and that it was their ?bread and butter?.  Not comfortable with having Mac?s do the AC recharge
I took it elsewhere.  The AC system
recharge was performed and proved to not be the problem.  Smells like sabotage to me.  It is operators like Mac?s of Bend that give
mechanics a bad name.

I thought this company was excellent about having us come in when we had problems and they even called to check on us after the third visit. I thought their customer service was great, but as for the actual repairing of our car, I am very disappointed.

Diagnosed cooling system for coolant leak. Found pressure cap was bad. they replaced the pressure cap - this did not fix my problem. Next time in Mac's they had the car for eight days for the same problem. This time they said it was the thermostat hosing, they replaced the thermostat hosing and thermostat - picked up the car and the car overheated on the way home. Mac's did not put the pressure cap on tight when they refilled the overflow tank with antifreeze this caused the car overheated on my way home. The car overheated and spilled antifreeze water mix all over my floor and all over the inside of the engine compartment. I took the car back for the third time, they diagnosed that the water pump needed replacement. I had the water pump replaced by another shop. Ryan the manager was pleasant to work with.

This business tends to overbook. They all day on my car and it still doesn't blow cold air properly. I think they are living on reputation only. They are a very large dealer and they used to be the best. The motto at Mac's seems to be "get em out the door".

This project was significantly more expensive than I expected, primarily due to the fact that the entire dash must be removed to access the heater core in this vehicle. In addition, the company recommended (and I agreed) to replace the heater and radiator hoses at the same time. The service work was good and the only problem I subsequently had was that the transmission lock interconnect switch apparently was not fully-seated when they reinstalled the dash and I could not get the vehicle out of park a few days later until the helpful folks at Les Schwab were able to find the loose connection.

Mac's services and repairs all of our fleet vehicles. They are always very quick with a firm estimate for repairs, very friendly, and work fast to get our vehicles back on the road! They take great care in securing the vehicles as well, due to our expensive tools and truck stock. As a locally owned family business, we prefer to work with companies that are family owned as well. Mac's has always been a perfect fit for us. Keep up the good work!

Mac's was recommended to me by the Texas manufacturer of my old add-on cruise control unit. Although Mac's used a different supplier, the recommendation was a good one. It took them a few days to round up the unit, especially since the supplier first sent one wrong part, which Mac's noticed without trying to install it. The supplier missed one letter, sending a unit for a General Motors car instead of for a Honda.

My A/C wasn't working. They checked the entire system and also checked the radiator and engine cooling system. They provided me with an estimate and brief explanation over the phone to fix the A/C and a leak in the cooling system. Both problems were very expensive to fix. I chose not to fix the A/C and had the dealer look at the cooling system. I wasn't confident that they would do as good of a job with the repair as the dealer.
