Lile North American Van Lines- Tigard

The Lile North American salesman did a great job selling us and getting our money in advance. However, the actual move was a disaster. They underestimated how much truck capacity was needed to move all of our goods. So they were unable to load everything in one trip. So they stored about 1/3 of our household goods in their local portland warehouse. Then we waited for over a month for the remainder of our goods to be transported to Montana. Plus they broke several items during the move, including several picture frames and our master bedroom headboard. On top of that, when they delivered the broken headboard the foreman of the move commented that the headboard looked pretty cheap, but if we want to file a damage claim, go ahead. So they broke our stuff, then insulted us, with no apology for breaking it in the first place.


All in all, there is no way I would hire North American again. Their service during the move was terrible.

Lile made promises of guaranteed pick up and delivery dates and assured us our goods would be delivered in the truck they were picked up in. None of this proved to be true. We had to call on the pick up day asking where the movers were. We were shocked to find out there was no record of our move in their computer system. We were then threatened our goods might not be moved for a couple of weeks unless we agreed to their timeline. In the spirit of fairness the agent at Lile did try to make amends but his guarantees and apologies fell short when we arrived in portland during the heat wave and had to spend our money on extra nights in a hotel because the driver, who did not log the trip or respond to phone calls from the dispatcher or us, came 4 days after the outside delivery date. We actually turned down a lower-priced mover to go with Lile, based upon their promises. Foolish were we. Add to this many of our boxes were crushed. A horrible experience from beginning to end (we got only a fraction of our costs reimbursed). We unequivocally do not recommend this company, unless you want to be tortured and forced into constant angry confrontations with people who are stealing your money.

The experience was very fine. They did an excellent job. They were on time for everything they promised to do and they did everything they promised. The move went exceedingly well, very smoothly. We were contacted by the driver and the people involved. It all went very well. Their price was competitive and they actually performed slightly below their estimate.

I have nothing negative to say about them.
