We hired Lex Construction for siding replacement and exterior paint, which included replacing two windows, some general construction to repair bulges in the studs and some roofing/fascia board repair. Of all the companies we had bid, we really felt like Mike listened to our vision and didn’t feel the need to rearrange it to his preference. He also gave us some great suggestions and recommendations, some which we decided to go ahead with and some not. The price was really reasonable, and we ended up adding the front deck replacement mid-project. Both Mike and Troy were responsive and courteous, and did a great job, as well as the contractors that covered the roofing and paint. A few minor details were missed between what we discussed and what they executed, but nothing major. Overall we were really happy with them, and plan to use them again for additional projects we have in mind. We highly recommend them for your next project!

We hired Mike Lex initially to repair damaged windowsills and siding on our home but quickly added to the list after seeing how much expertise he has in all facets of construction. This man truly knows his stuff and takes pride in his workmanship. He communicates well, shows up when expected, works hard with his team to get the job done in a timely manner and leaves the job site clean. We very much appreciated his honestly. He won't up-sell a project and will inform his clients if something is not necessary and will suggest options. He listens well and can take your design idea and turn it into a masterpiece as he did with crafting a beautiful floating mantle for our downstairs fireplace. His attention to detail will make you want to hire him time and again as we have and will continue to do. We highly recommend Michael Lex Construction.

Mike was great to work with. Very communicative, responsive, flexible and reasonable which after dealing with several very flakey contractors, was much appreciated. Mike was full of ideas and recommendations, I can tell he’s very passionate about the work he does. I also really like that Mike is the actual person doing the work - he’s not paying someone else to do the work for him - he may have someone assisting/helping, but he’s on-site working as well. I also appreciated that Mike was willing to take on everything that I asked of him- nothing was too big or too small. My project was part of legalizing/permitting existing work done by a previous owner, which resulted in successfully obtaining approved permits from the city which I think speaks to the quality of Mike’s work. Thanks again for all your help Mike! Will definitely keep your number handy for any future work I may need help with.

As always, Mike comes through for us. We have worked with Michael Lex on several projects over several years and he is our go-to guy for anything we need help with. We like working with Mike because we are extremely picky in the quality of our work and Mike always accommodates our often over the top expectations. He collaborates, listens, and performs in a style that really works for us which reflects enormously about his ability to get along with and please perfectionists. He also has no problems with us working with him side-by-side when we choose to. He is timely, professional, hardworking and fair. He also has a sense of humor as well so working with him is just plain fun.

The first job Mike did for me was replacing the worn cedar siding on the south side of my house. He was prompt, affordable, and most importantly, did a great job. The quality of his workmanship is excellent. In fact, when we needed another major project done, replacing the fascia on a dormer roof and some worn siding an another part of the house, he was the first person we called. True to form, he did a great job and we are very pleased. It was a difficult job and much to mu surprise, he completed it one day. If you need a high quality craftsman at a reasonable price, Mike is your guy.

We greatly enjoyed working with Mike and would work with him again on our future projects. He put a great deal of time into our project before work even commenced as he came out to our home multiple times to discuss the project and take measurements. He quoted us prices on multiple different options in regard to windows and various additions to our project that we were considering. He was also patient with our indecision in picking out windows. Although he gave us an estimated start date of June, he and his crew were actually able to start the project even sooner than expected, which was a pleasant surprise for us. He and his crew worked really hard and seemed to work quickly too. They left the entire work space neat and clean at the end of every day, which was greatly appreciated. Mike replaced two windows in our basement as well as the siding on the back of our house and part of one of the sides of our house and the visual improvement is enormous. He and his crew pay attention to detail and do excellent work. Mike is also a very friendly and personable guy, which made working with him that much more enjoyable.

I chose Michael Lex Construction for my siding project for several reasons. I have an older, 1920’s house with cedar shingle siding. This consisted mostly of the original shingles but had missing shingles, a number of repairs done over the years as evidenced by newer shingles, which didn’t quite match, plus many layers of paint. I opted for a full house residing to create an overall even appearance and establish a known installation date. Mike, the owner, showed the greatest interest in restoring an older home and didn’t try to talk me into an engineered siding product. He had the most creative solutions for some tricky areas. I also had the last 2 original windows replaced. Because the windows were a slightly different size than the originals, Mike and his partner Chris, built new frames so the windows fit properly. I chose a hybrid window style with natural wood on the inside. Because they also replaced the window framing, I didn’t have to strip the paint from the old window frame as I’d intended, which was a happy side effect for me. I like that Mike is not only the owner but actually does the work vs. subcontracting or performing only project management. He has a vested interest in producing a quality result. The price was very competitive and the project was completed per the scope and time of the contract. Mike and Chris worked well together to create a beautiful outcome. I would certainly recommend this team and hire them again.

It went great! About 4 weeks start to finish. A few bumps in the road we expect from an old house, but all in all went flawlessly.

Great. Mike and his team are very professional and dedicated to quality work and keeping customer's happy. Mike spends the time to understand your objectives and proposes various solutions. He introduced us to a building material we had not considered but which met all our no-maintenance needs. He showed up on schedule and completed the work ahead of schedule. He is an excellent communicator and actively solicits feedback during the job to make sure everything is meeting your needs. We are very picky and Mike ticked off every detail. Michael and partner Chris have worked many years together. Their teamwork produced speed and craftsmanship in all construction and roofing stages of job. With little formal specifications given, they executed my evolving plan and with good humor.

The job went great. Michael and his assistant Chris were very thorough, detail oriented, and pleasant to have around the house. It makes a big difference when the guy that bids on the job is the guy who actually does the work, and just having two people who worked so well together, I felt like we were in great hands. I was especially amazed with how well they did the 'finish carpentry' type of work on window trims outside and the one window inside (which had to mesh with kitchen cabinets and crown moldings, etc.). They are skilled craftsmen.
