I got quotes from other painters and selected Lobo based on John?s experience with older houses, the
expertise he demonstrated during the walk through and his knowledge of different brands of paint. I was not disappointed.
Cost of the project varied based on the scope of work involved.  I had painting that needed to be done as the result of damage from a fireplace fire and I had painting that needed to be done related to age, wear & tear.  This included fireplace, ceiling, bench seats, 9 doors with crafts molding, an entry hall and coat room.   I have been impressed with the quality of his workers. They were sincere, knowledgable, and hard working.  They had professional integrity and pride of workmanship and were very respectful of my house.  The work included prepping, caulking, patching woodwork, priming, and painting (both brush and spray.  They clearly knew their craft and did a great job with my home.   Be aware, this is a small company and timelines will be factored in accordingly.  I will use them again.

In the summer of 2009 John and his crew painted the exterior of our 1915 home. At the time we had a good experience with his company. He was responsive, courteous, and did the work at a reasonable price as well as telling us that a good paint job would last many years and that he would repair any problem areas if they cropped up years later.
Fast forward to the summer of 2014. We called John because there were about 3 spots where the paint had chipped or cracked. He came out, looked at the spots, and promised to get back with us to schedule a time for his company to complete the touch up. We never heard from him.
In the summer of 2015 we contacted him again, as the 3 spots had grown to about a dozen places where the paint was chipping or bubbling. When John discovered that the scope of the repair work had grown, he balked at having to perform it. He claimed that he was not responsible for the repairs because we had had another company do some lead abatement work on the home and that company had primed certain parts of the exterior. Our response to him was that back in 2009 at no time did he indicate that his warranty was limited by the fact that another company had done some of the priming. In fact, if he had had concerns with how the priming had been done, he should have raised them then and explicitly told us that this might impact his warranty.
After some back and forth John agreed to allow his person to complete the repairs we identified. However, his person left at the end of the day without checking in with us. They actually missed one of the areas we pointed out to them.
We are left extremely saddened and disappointed at these turn of events. If you consider using John, be sure to get any warranty in writing and be sure to grill him to ensure there are no caveats to what he his guaranteeing.

Awed by speed and quality of painting job. South side of house was badly weathered and much patching and filling was done to make it look better than I thought possible.

This was another great firm to work with. During the color selection process, they were really good about applying sample colors to the walls for us and testing stain colors so we could choose the final colors. During the actual painting, their team was very hard working and worked long days (almost too long). Though, it was amazing how quickly they finished staining and shellacking our main floor woodwork. They also painted the exterior of our home with three different colors in about three days. And when we asked for some changes because the wrong color had been applied to details, they fixed them for us. It is very likely we would hire them again if the occasion arose.

I rated them B for responsiveness because it was hard to catch John on the cell phone. He's a busy guy, but sometimes it was difficult to get a hold of him. Part of the problem may have been that we didn't hire him directly so perhaps he called the general contractor back. Surely it would be better if you were hiring him directly.

I was recommended to use John Lobo Painting from my realtor. I never used them previously. I was very pleased with the job overall. The Paint crew did a great quality job painting the exterior. They were very professional and kept a very clean work site. When there was a misunderstanding what color to paint the support lattice beams, there was no issue and they were repainted without question. Where this company gets bonus points is that this company also painted my foundation walls, even though it was not requested and not part of the bid---- w/o any additional charge (it definitely looked much better). In addition, when I was not happy with porch stairs staining results, the company applied a second coat without any problem. This company is great to work with, does a quality job for a reasonable price, and most of all, is flexible to address any customer concerns.

John's crew worked 7 days a week to complete our extensive project. The entire crew was a pleasure to work with and they were quite careful in their work. John worked well with other trades that were still working on site to ensure that progress continued. There were and are minor issues that need to be addressed and they have easily addressed them all. We plan to use them for our exterior painting when the weather permits

John was prompt with his estimate and was the only estimate that would use alkyd enamel paint. All other contractors bid to use lacquer based paint. Upon internet investigation, we discovered the alkyd paint is more durable in high traffic areas such as kitchens. Lacquer based paint is primarily used due to its quick drying properties and is not as durable. His crews arrived promptly as planned, they were courteous, neat, professional and skilled. They masked the entire kitchen (to paint the cabinet boxes) and the basement (where they painted the drawer faces and cabinet doors). As a result, there was very little over-spray. The cabinets were sanded with flaky areas feathered out, primed and painted. The bid was for 2 coats of paint but after 2 coats were applied, John decided to add a 3rd coat to insure durability. The original time estimate for the job was 4 days. We expanded the job to include the upper cabinets when the work began and the entire job was finished within 6 days. John completed the work himself by fixing the punch-list problems that we identified after the painting was done and the drawer fronts and cabinet doors were reinstalled. Finally, everything was cleaned up daily and when the job was completed. We are very happy with the paint job and the cabinets look great. John is a personable and friendly guy and was a treat to work with. He listened and responded to our desires, requests and ideas.

Painter was referred by a friend. Price was reasonable; work was speedy, neat, and of superior quality. Crew and contractor were polite, friendly and respectful of owner's access, site livibility, etc., during process. It took John a bit longer to get back to me with his bid than originally said, but the wait was only a few days. He gets an A+ grade from me.
