Intex Contractors

This was a disaster. I should never have paid out half in advance. His references were fairly wealthy folks who must not inspect their rental properties carefully.

I could write about the deception. But frankly, the siding work by Martin Howard is substandard. Boards were cut too short. The nails were shot in too deep. The t-111 replacement was not purchased primed. He never gave me the receipts. He advertised as a licensed contractor with insurance. We found out by contacting CCB that he was using an expired number. I was told that he let his insurance lapse. After two days, I realized an 19 year old youngster was doing much of work rather than Martin. The caulking was not impressive given how much time it took. I got suspicious after he swapped out three panels of t-111 without asking me. He then wanted to add $1800 in charges to the project cost saying that the contract permitted him to have add-ons in the event of dry rot. I kept the original flyer and checked out the number with CCB. They plan to fine him for having an uninsured employee and working while expired.

The prep work was marginal, which has resulted in several areas that have bubbled and the paint is already starting to crack after a mere few weeks. There are areas of the siding that the paint did not cover completely. In addition, the front door was only given one coat of paint which did not cover the prior color. Siding was replaced and all of the boards, nails, etc. debris was left in my driveway. There is over spray on the foundation that looks very sloppy, and less than professional. The south end of the house requires an additional coat of paint and needs to be re-scraped. I have addressed all of the above items with the contractor who indicated to me that he would remove the debris in my driveway and return to repaint the south end of the house and repaint the front door. I have contacted the contractor repeatedly and he has failed to return my calls and failed to complete the work as promised. This was not a quality or a professional job. Very disappointed.

I was initially hesitant to hire a contractor with whom I had no previous experience, but their references reassured me. Roger was attentive to our needs and made appropriate suggestions. He hired people who showed up on time, completed the work satisfactorily, and cleaned up after themselves. He checked regularly for quality work. He took care of details and followup. I also appreciate that he hired American workers and I didn't have to worry about illegals. Many of my friends have reported horror stories about remodeling experiences and contractor relations, but I had nothing but a positive experience. I am delighted with the results as well as the process and have recommended Roger Kruse and Intex Contractors to others who are considering this type of work on their homes or businesses.
