We asked if we could do the digging ourselves to get a reduced price. He was agreeable to that and it saved us over $300.
We called digger's hotline to get things marked.
He came over with the new equipment on the day he said he would come. He did the job quickly and efficiently. He answered all of our questions. He did the annual back flow check and sent results to the water company.
The irrigation system required some adjustments, which we expected and worked well this summer. They were responsive to our calls.
The sod in the front yard did not survive in spite of our efforts to keep it well watered. It was later determined the sod was not the correct mix as our area is obviously shady and should have been either seeded or sodded with shade grass. We asked for and paid the additional money for sod over seed, relying on Green Leaf to provide the correct product.
They started the work in the spring 2013 and are still trying to restore the front lawn.
"When we originally bid the work, I quoted the lawns as being seeded with a shade blend seed. The homeowner asked if it was possible to sod the new lawn so it would be completed in a more timely manner. My response was that it was possible, but due to the shade around the property, it would need to be over seeded a time or two(fall & spring) to achieve the proper blend of shade/sun tolerant seed. There is not a shade tolerant sod available locally as it would need to be grown in the shade. We spoke about the over seeding and it seemed like we were on the same page. We scheduled the work for June 17th and moved it out 1 week to accommodate a conflict with the homeowners schedule. We completed the work and installed the sod after tilling in the proper amendments in early July. I checked on the progress of the turf after 4 weeks and it was beautiful. Typically after this amount of time has passed, problems with irrigation coverage would have shown themselves. The coverage was not the problem in our opinion. I received an email on Sept 16th stating the turf quality was in bad shape and was a little surprised. We met on site and there were large sections of sod that had died out and never properly rooted. In our opinion, the sod that was installed failed to root properly and that was a result of being cut too thin and probably having a weak root structure. We have since moved on from our sod supplier which is one of the larger well known companies in the Valley. We over seeded the lawn in the fall. Unfortunately, there is not much we can do in the late fall/winter. Our last visit was a few weeks back and the fall seeding is doing well! In the early spring we will over seed the turf areas one more time and maintain them until they are in great shape. We are confident the homeowners will have a great shade tolerant lawn this spring. We deal with living plant material and do everything possible to provide a great product. We rarely have to warranty any plants or turf we install but we are always willing to do so. I have installed sod and over seeded in shady areas before with great success and I am disappointed that one of my customers is having to deal with this issue."
Green Leaf's estimate included the names of all products to be used. The estimate was met, no overruns or surprises in the billing. We would use them for future landscaping needs and have recommended them to friends.
System was installed on time as promised.
I didn't know the type of automatic timer I was going to receive, but I have been very happy with the fully-automated
weather-sensitive timer they installed. They re-seeded the lawn after the trenching, and the lawn looked great
after a couple of weeks.
I had a small leak after installation, and Green Leaf was very quick in getting the system working properly.
Overall, I was happy with the work and would use them again for system adjustments.
