When we bought the computer the software came covered under the plan we purchased with the computer. Our first visit did not go so well with them because we were not told we needed wifi. The second visit did go better. The Geeksquad person was not allowed to transfer some information for us but he was happy to walk my husband through the transfer it on his own. They were very pleasant to work with and helpful. We were able to just walk in for the service.

Took computer to "Best Buy" to repair a malfunctioning ON/OFF switch.  The computer was sent to the mfg. service center.
The problem was the way the computer was shipped and the lies that "Best Buy" told about the process.  We were told the process could take up to 2 weeks.  It took over 4 weeks.  Best Buy chose to ship via "crate" service versus UPS or USPS.  The company does not have a tracking system for this type of shipping and it is extremely slow since the item can sit at a location for days.  It took 3 weeks to ship from Chino, CA. to Portland, OR.  We spoke to 6 different individuals during this time and received 6 different reasons (excuses) for the delay.  Bottom line is that "Best Buy" saves a little money by shipping this way and their attitude seems to be to h*** with the customer.  Horrible customer service.

First of all, the salesman did not tell us that the laptop would only work on wireless.  We got the computer home and found that out.  We had to call our cable provider to come and install a router so we could use the computer.  If we had know that, we probably would have bought a computer with a tower that could work off a modem.

Geek squad did transfer the data in a timely fashion, but one set of pictures was not included.  We went back with more operating questions, which the geek technician helped with.  But he wanted to charge another $85 to install the set of pictures.  Finally he "talked" my husband through the installation at no charge. 

Although the price was good, I would caution anyone wanting to purchase electronics from Best Buy.  Maybe we should have brought our son along when we bought the computer.  People with our lack of electronic knowledge can be led astray.

I had been to Best Buy in the past looking at computers.  I decided to go back and purchase from them.  I was very happy with their services, and would purchase from them again.

I had issues with my computer, and when I went in their originally they told me their was nothing that they could do, and I told them I had the black tie protection and all this. He said well I don't want to see all that and he said the best thing you can do is just wipe it clean.  So I had backed it up and then I physically had to go wipe it clean and it still was running the same errors. I went back and I talked to a manager and he said whoever that was should not have said that and I did not have to wipe all my stuff clean. So I lost a lot of data, but eventually they did fix it.
