Todd and Ty were both great! Called for very last minute help with my non-functioning electric range. Todd dispatched Ty, who arrived in a mere 15 or so minutes. Ty quickly identified an issue with my circuit breaker. He repaired it with ease and was cordial and patient with all my questions (I was curious about the process, and I know zero about electric). I highly recommend these guys; really happy they are in St Johns and would definitely do business with them in the future!

Todd and Ty literally saved my life, or at least my home, in less than 40 minutes. Fitzpatrick Electric came recommended to me by a neighbor and I can't thank that neighbor enough for the introduction. I learned an important lesson along the way..."Electricity is not something to mess with...hire an electrician. Will cost you far less in the end" BTW, whoever gave Fitzpatrick Electric the "F" score clearly didn't have his/her expectations aligned appropriately.

First I called Todd, the owner of the company, who tried to trouble shoot with me on the phone. After talking to me for a few minutes he thought it would be best to send out a journeyman at $95/hour and an apprentice at $75/hr. I said okay and made an appointment, hoping it would be a simple fix that would take an hour and cost me $170 plus any supplies. The other company I had consulted on the job, Authentic Electric, had quoted me a flat fee of $320 for two hours of work for two employees including any supplies $100 worth or less. I wish I would have gone with Authentic Electric. On the day of the job, Ty the apprentice, showed up right at 8am. He was polite and told me that the journeyman, Greg, was stuck in traffic. We walked around the yard and talked about the work. He told me that it is common for GFCI outlets to just stop working and need to be replaced and that is likely all it was. He got right to work replacing the two outlets. The journeyman showed up about a half an hour later and got right to work digging around by the fence that had the post lights. I was in the kitchen getting my kids ready for school and could watch all the work in the back yard from the windows. It was some time after 9am that the journeyman came to the back door, never introduced himself, took a phone call in the middle of talking to me, that he finally bothered to explain to me that this concrete fence with the post lights in it was likely older than my house. That most of the electrical is either sealed in concrete or underground, and that the electrical boxes he could find were rusted shut and he likely did more damage than good by messing around with them. One post light had already been working when they got there but he said that by him messing around with it, it will likely break soon as well. Then the two of them packed up and went to their trucks. I heard them leaving and went out to the driveway and yelled to him, asking how much it would be and how I pay for it. He yelled from his truck that I would get a bill in the mail. Three days later the bill came. I was shocked to see $459.50. The bill was not itemized. It said 2.5 hours of labor and materials. I called Todd, the owner, for an explanation. I was watching clock while they were here and I am certain they were gone before 10:30am. The journeyman was 30 minutes late and they were done by 10am. Todd explained that his employees fill out their own time cards, it is done on a honor system, and he has never had problems with it before. I know for a fact that they journeyman was late because the apprentice came to the door and told me he was running late, and he charged me for it anyway. Todd told me that if I felt like they were being dishonest on their time cards I should sit down with his employees and talk to them about it. I questioned why the journeyman did not first come and tell me that electrical boxes were all either concreted in, rusted shut, or underground, and likely not fixable, before he started cutting them open at $170 and hour. If they would have looked around, told me what they saw, that the only thing they could do was replace the two outlets, something we have done plenty before ourselves, I would have stopped them by the first hour and said that I would replace the outlets myself. Todd only argued with me that his employees did the right thing and that charging me $459.50 to replace two outlets was actually giving me a good deal. He finally agreed to take it down to $412 to compensate for the journeyman being late on the job.

After trying two or three other places that didn't even return my calls, I happened to see a Fitzpatrick van in the neighborhood and memorized the phone number on the side. Upon returning home, I called immediately. The person who picked up was in the middle of another job, but he said he would call back in an hour or so, and did. I wasn't home, but I returned his call the next morning ... and within an hour, an electrician was in my home, and took care of everything quickly. I could not have asked for better customer service, and now everything is working perfectly.

He shows up when he says and does the job he says he is going to do for the price that he says. He has even came in below his estimate. He is the best. He is the most honest person I have ever met.
