First Choice Movers

This is the second time they've moved my piano and both times they've done it on time, without a nick in the walls (which is saying something since its up and down a flight of stairs and around a tight corner in a town home). They are the best!

Everything went better than great. Must say that I have used them in the past and knew what to expect. One of the things that makes them such a stellar service provider is their cheerful willingness to do anything asked of them. I mean, if I had asked them to put one of my plants in the cab and water it enroute, I'm sure they would have smiled and said yes, of course. They are just very accommodating. It feels like their on your team. Very nice to have in the middle of something as disruptive as moving a house full of possessions.

Excellent! The two gentlemen were very friendly and knowledgeable. They worked quickly and efficiently. We were very satisfied with their services and would use them again in a heartbeat!

It all went pretty well.  One of the movers was "in training" and was taking instructions from the other.  I had to remind them of a couple items they forgot to load, but nothing major.  For the price, they did a great job.  I would definitely consider hiring them again.

They always show up promptly. They always do a good job. They are courteous, efficient, and very considerate and respectful towards the seniors.

They were on time. Called ahead even. Did a quick walk through and were very informative on how they were going to do the move. They made me feel glad that I hired professionals rather than do it myself. They were very fast and extremely careful. I expect things to get roughed up to a certain degree when ever I move but not with these guys they didnt damage anything and made sure everything was wrapped and blanketed. I would recomend these guys to anyone. Thank you sooo much first choice!!!

The movers arrived generally within acceptable times, although they were a little late at one location. 
The movers were not rude and were generally friendly, if a little rough looking.  Perfectly acceptable and nothing to complain about in  terms of timing of arrival or appearance.  One of the movers was a temporary employee who was filling in for  a sick employee.
The moving out of items went ok at both locations with the workers doing what was asked, working hard, and moving fast (probably too fast and not careful enough).
Problems started when the movers were moving items into the new house.  Some of the problems were hidden or not noticed until after the movers left.

The new house has hard wood floors.  We asked that they not use their dollies on the bare hard wood floors.  They used their dollies on the bare hard wood floors.

The movers were not careful moving boxes up the stairs and in one of the rooms.  They were going too quick and smashed boxes into the walls at numerous locations.

The movers also dropped some of the few heavy items (i.e, a dresser) on the floor when setting things down and damaged the floor. 

The movers also attempted to hide their damage.  For example, boxes were staked on top of areas in which their was damage in an odd manner that would only have been done if they were attempting to hide the damage.

Some, but not all of the damage was noted with the movers.

I attempted to discuss the damage issue with the owner/manager Austin.  I have never experienced such rudeness.  He used swear words, made accusations and denied everything.

The next day, Austin was apologetic, purchased some paint and putty so that we could make repairs ourselves, but refused to make any changes for the floor damage. 

Later we discovered that some small sentimental items were missing.  Austin's rudeness returned and he again shifted the blame.

I would never use this company again.  They were in the low end of bids, but it would have been better to do the move ourself.  We had just purchased a new house, which was damaged before we moved in.  The rudeness and abusive language was unacceptable and outside of my normal experience. 

I waited to fill out this report because I did not want my strong feelings to impact my report.  After a year, I still strongly believe this company should not be used.

The job went well and although this is an unnerving experience to go through Shane kept everything going well and quickly, recognizing that their time is your money.

Shane and Ryan were great! They showed up on time, were professional, and even moved me on a Saturday which was a relief to my work schedule. They were the fastest movers I've ever seen, almost always running and I never saw them take a break. Even when I asked them to do special things, like unload delicate items from my car, they did it without hesitation and with a good attitude. I'd definitely hire them again.

The trucks and men were to arrive at 9:00 am and they were actually about ten minutes early. They looked the job over and started in immediately. All four men worked well together to load the trucks, first the boxes for storage which were located in the garage and then the furniture for storage. They began working on loading the truck for the apartment which was primarily furniture. Because of the amount going to storage they determined that they would put a couple of large items in the "apartment truck" to drop off at storage on the way to the apartment. We had a large glass coffee table that they took extra measure to wrap and secure. They worked extremely fast in loading the two trucks which took about 3-1/2 hours. Our home, storage and apartment were in the southwest area of Portland and travel time was short. After dropping off the two items at storage, the "apartment truck" went on to the apartment. They assured us if one truck finished the job before the other, it would be noted and we wouldn't be charged more for the early finish. However, they were right on target and both trucks finished up within a few minutes of each other. The job was completed at 3:00 pm. The men were polite, understood our concerns, and even located a box that was put into the storage-bound stack that was meant to go to the apartment. They were very calm and reassuring and made the move that much easier on us.

Would hire them again.

They were friendly and worked hard. They were very tired from working a long day and got a little snippy with each other. They were mostly careful with our belongings, but occasionally placed things haphazardly. We did not get our Angie's List discount.

They arrived 15 minutes early and I was glad because it was forecast to snow that afternoon. They carefully wrapped and carried all my furnishings so nothing got wet or damaged. When they unloaded they carried every box into the proper room according to the labels on the boxes. They placed the furniture, put the bed together and even put on the dust ruffle so I would not have to lift the queen mattress. They were courteous and friendly and very professional. All was completed in 4 3/4 hours and as they closed up the truck it started to snow and kept snowing for 2 days.

The company was very reasonable in price, they worked very hard and complete the job to my satisfaction. They were also very nice, clean and polite. I would use them again.

Because of a home sale / home purchase timing issue, we had to phase our move from our old house to our new house. We originally had a different moving company lined up but they were very difficult schedule with. When they showed up, they forgot equipment that they needed to move a piano with. After completing the first part, they said they would return the next day to move the piano. Unfortunately, they were not able to schedule themselves in to come back and were somewhat difficult to work with. We called First Choice Movers to see if they could help us on short notice. They arrived on time with the proper equipment and completed the move in a very professional manner. We decided not to use our original movers for the rest of the move and ask if First Choice Movers would help us finish. There were two more days of moving and they were always prompt, professional and courteous. They worked diligently and efficiently to the point where WE felt we had to ask them to take a break before anyone got hurt. Moving is stressful enough but these guys did their part to try and keep it as easy as it possibly can. We would use this crew again.

They showed on time. Walk through the job. Moved the piano and left.

This is the second time I hired these movers and the guys they sent were just as good this time. I had too much stuff to fit in a 26' truck so the move was from 9am - 5pm one day and 8am-1pm the next.

They were good to use and would recommend them.

I called about 10 of the piano movers found in my area on Angie's list, and First Choice was the lowest estimate by at least $40.00. They were friendly on the phone, and fit me in on last minute's notice since I was in a time crunch. They came on time, called before coming, and did the job professionally and quickly. They did a great job!

We booked the moving service about 2 days before and they were very flexible with time. They charge $85/hour for two guys and a truck and have a 3 hour minimum. Our movers Shane and Zach called about 3 hours early asking whether they could come early to move, but we weren't packed and ready so we agreed to the original time. They were extremely punctual, calling 20 minutes before the scheduled time to tell us they were coming. They arrived around 2:25pm, but put down 2:45pm for start time to accommodate for time taken to walk around and see what needed to be moved. Both Shane and Zach were extremely professional and careful with all of our stuff, even though a lot of the furniture and pieces were not even expensive. We moved from a three level townhome with a moderate amount of furniture and lots of boxes (some VERY heavy boxes) to a two level home about 7 miles away, and they finished within 2.5 hours! They were really friendly and took instructions well. They put up protective padding on the doorways and railings too. I personally supervised the whole move and didn't even see them take a break. I think it was definitely money well-spent. This was the first time we've used movers, but I think we'll never go back to moving by ourselves.

Recommended by a friend and I was pleased they were also listed on Angie's List. Shane and Nick arrived within the time quoted (courtesy call to confirm before they arrived) and were both friendly and fast. They were professional, respectful and listened to our special requests (which they got right every time!). Used pads to protect staircase railings, walls, doorways, etc.. We would use them again without hesitation.

All told, the move took 3 hours and went very smoothly. First Choice was prompt, professional and very accomodating. Great service that I would definitely recommend (or use again in the future).

The move went very well. I was so nervous about things breaking, especially my piano. Everything made it to our new home in perfect condition. They were also very careful about not bumping into walls or the staircase. In fact, they covered the staircase with heavy moving blankets before bringing anything inside. These guys had amazing strength. One guy picked up one of our heavy filing cabinets and carried it downstairs and into the truck like it was nothing. Even my husband was impressed. Thanks for a successful move!

They were scheduled to arrive between 1 and 3 on Friday. At around 3 they called and said they couldn't make it an rescheduled for Saturday. When they came on Saturday one of the crew complained and lectured me about liability issues throughout the move, He also told me it would be impossible to get my couch out the door and he didn't have the time to work with it any further. I suggested taking the door off the hinges (!) and it did fit through. Finally at the end he tried to charge me for time they weren't there. The other crew member was very nice and the owner was apologetic, but the move was unnecessarily long and extra stressful.
