Where to start, I hired Jim at Evolution to do an exterior home remodel. This was three years ago. This included windows, siding, doors, roof, and gutters. Two jobs (the house roof and the gutters) were done by two other companies that he hired. The gutters are leaking and not doing their job at this point. They are not blocked nor do they have debris in them. The seams are failing. There are three spots currently. Also they put a downspout in the middle of the gutter and not on the end. So there’s issues associated with that. Jim was to do the siding, windows, screen doors, basement door, and carport roof. His costs were the best out of several contractors and he was recommended by a friend. We were drawn to another company but we decided to go with Evolution and Jim. So I mentioned the carport, we needed to redo it. I am a novice when it comes to building but I figured I could build the carport and have Jim roof it (originally it was going to be the other subcontracted roofers doing it). So I constructed, after doing research, the carport. Jim arrives and says it’s too flat and that it’s not safe to shingle it. so he says we could but corrugated plastic up in its place. I agree to that as I am assuming he knows what he’s talking about. He proceeds to do the job. The carport roof, the siding, the windows. I recently installed a patio with pavers right before he started his work here. I with my neighbors help did the work. My neighbor then installed a concrete border around the patio. At one point Jim and his crew rent a scissor lift and proceed to drive it (I think the sticker said 2500 pounds on the side of the machine) onto the patio to instal a window upstairs. They cracked the new concrete border and cracked about 10 pavers. They decided not to mention it to me, but I noticed it. I waited till the end of the day when Jim was sitting in his vehicle to leave and I approached him. He said they would fix it. Their fix was flipping the pavers over and not addressing the cracked concrete border. Disappointing but ok. So back to the carport which is my ultimate complaint. Jim completes all the projects including the plastic on the carport. Within days there are multiple leaks on the carport. Jim sends a helper out to put some caulk on it. The next day it’s leaking all along where the plastic meets the newly shingled roof. I contact Jim about the situation and he says “I’m washing my hands clean of this problem”. I plead with him to help address it and he sends me a email saying I screwed up the carport and that if an inspector saw it they would make me take it down. So I drop it. Over the next three years we are to the point of replacing the roof, yet the carport structure is solid. The plastic has shattered on the south side where it wasn’t connected properly, no flashing was installed so the water has damaged all of his supports causing them to warp, it leaks everywhere rendering the carport useless. Since Jim refused to address it I contacted another contractor to see what they could do. They came out and determined Jim botched the carport roof in several ways. No flashing, un proper cross beam placement, un proper overlap of plastic, un proper attachment to my structure. My structure was sound with no issues. So I reach out to Jim again about the issue and asked him repeatedly to come back out to see what was happening, in hopes he would fix it. It has been three years at this point. He doubled down with what he said before. Got upset that I asked another contractor to look at it (even though he refused too). He repeatedly asked me if I wanted him to come out. Which I reply with yes, over and over again. He never came. To be blunt he was incredibly rude. I’ll happily post what he wrote of the need arises. The bottom line to me is this. If I built the structure poorly (as he claimed… even though I think he wanted to initially do it but cost prevented it) why would you cover something that was built poorly. I would of said I can’t legally cover that structure or maybe even it’s built in a way that I can’t insure a leak free roof (again it was a matter of days I reported leaks to him). Secondly after I paid over 50,000 dollars to him, why wouldn’t you try to fix the roof just to be helpful especially since I contacted him within days. Thirdly why be a rude and condescending. Overall it was a huge let down. The new carport roof will cost about 3000. All his supports and the plastic top. The patio damage and the lack of care in fixing his issues he created. I would never recommend Jim or Evolution.

Jim and Jake did a high quality job for a reasonable price.

Evolution did an incredible job replacing our backyard fence after a windy winter storm wrecked the original. The service was excellent, the lead time was fast, and they completed the job in one day with a high-quality end product. Pricing was incredibly fair, would absolutely recommend and use again for any projects!

It is so hard to find a good handyman these days that I was conflicted on giving a good review, but, in the end, the better angels of my nature won out. Jim sets the standard for service. Jim carried out the work he said he would perform within the budget he estimated, and when he said it would be done and the repairs are of good quality. In addition, he did a great job coordinating with the tenants, the cost was reasonable and I appreciated his recommending deferring some of the work until after the rainy season. He is pretty busy, not surprisingly, so he could not schedule some of the work until 6 weeks out. However, I appreciate that he has a realistic grasp of the demands on his time and, consequently, he does not overcommit. This permits him to keep to the schedule he gives you and it makes him reliable. Jim makes it look so easy which makes me wonder why on earth it is so hard for others to provide similar service. We will be using him again in the future.

Evolution Home Repair (Jim) was fantastic. The work was high quality and exactly what we expected. Jim responded very quickly and came over to provide an estimate, which was very accurate. The repair was performed quickly and in a very timely manner. Over all, working with Jim was easy and a very good experience. I would strongly recommend Jim for any home repair needs and will certainly contact him him for our next repair.

Jim did a great job with all of the above repairs. He was punctual and gracious about working around my work schedule. When I had trouble with the front door locking after the initial fix, he came back the next day, and made it all work beautifully. My kitchen tile looks fantastic, and he left my kitchen all clean when the work was done. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Jim & Evolution Home Improvement for any future work I need done.

Jim and his apprentice Morgan were extremely professional and friendly. They were on time every day and did exceptional work! Our house looks better than ever thanks to the quality of workmanship they provided. On top of that, for the large amount of work that they performed, the price was very reasonable. I will be calling Jim the next time we need to have work done and will be recommending him to all of our friends!

This project went smoother than I expected. Jim was punctual, the work was completed on time and exactly as we asked for. The project turned out great!

Tiling is especially good. Decent price for great quality.

Jim and Evolution Home Improvement are great to work with. Very responsive and reliable, and always coming with good suggestions and recommendations for how to solve whatever the problem is. He's also recommended other quality tradesmen who I now trust when a job required additional specialties. I know when I reach out I'll hear back quickly, and coordination is never a pain in the butt. Jim completed all work as scheduled with high quality. Very reasonable, upfront, and honest.

Good response and communication providing an estimate to install 2 grab bars in my tiled bath. I had requested 5 estimates and 3 companies responded and Evolution was the only one to provide a a set amount and which was very reasonable. Jim kept me appraised of when he would arrive and he arrived right on time. The job was completed professionally in about an hour. He cleaned up all the debris. It could not have been a better experience. I would not hesitate to use him again.

Jim has done several projects in our home. Typically we don't have a clear plan for what we want done, but we know we can trust Jim to figure out a solution that not only looks great but is also reasonably priced. We refinished our basement floors and we needed the trim fixed around the entire perimeter of the room. Additionally, we needed the doorway transitions fixed. The transition to our laundry room was awful - crumbling flooring under linoleum and not at all level. We really thought this one would stump Jim and we resigned ourselves to a weird looking transition. Well, we were wrong -- the transition looks beautiful! Jim has done several projects for us and the reason we continue to use him is that he makes the whole process easy. He is professional, has a great aesthetic, and his work always exceeds our expectations.

The work was done in a timely manner and was of high quality. I really like that Jim will work with existing structures and only replace or repair what needs to be done.

Jim did a good job with the estimate considering we didn’t know how extensive the threat was. They had to pull up my sidewalk and the bamboo was growing all along my foundation. It was a grueling and muddy job to pull that stuff out and put ina a barrier. Jim then had a great idea of replacing the sidewalk with decking and a fence. This wound up giving us a lot of extra space in the side yard And a hard barrier between the neighbor’s Hot mess and my own property. We love the new deck. It’s a pleasure to be out there now instead of a huge source of concern and frustration.

Jim is outstanding. Very fair and honest and straightforward. I've had a few general maintenance projects that for either lack of time or the right tools I never got to and I gave Jim a call to take a look at them. With one quick visit he gave me an estimate and then in an afternoon came in and completed the work under the estimate. Couldn't be more satisfied. Like having a handy friend or neighbor to trust and rely on. I will continue to use Jim and couldn't recommend him any more highly.

I got new carpet in November and Evolution came over and helped me move furniture, secure heavy bookcases (earthquake-proofing), setting household hardware, etc. They were wonderful. I was a little scattrered, and still haed to make decisions about placement and other things, these guys were so patient and willing to go with the flow. They were also very helpful - gave me a little tutorial for the drill I had just purchased. I like that they were polite and flexible, treated me as a peer. That doesn't always happen to me and I really appreciated it. Thanks, folks!

We had an amazing experience with Jim! He was able to complete everything on our wishlist in a timely manner and provided thoughtful suggestions that we ended up adding to the job. This company was extremely accommodating and easy to work with and we so highly recommend their services.

Great work! We had a broken shower riser and hired Evolution to help with the tile. The demo was clean and workmanlike, and preserved as much of the original tile as possible. They were even able to match the original tile from our 1952 daylight ranch. Would definitely hire again.

Really well. Jim takes time up front to be sure he knows my needs. Scheduled work and kept to the schedule. Professional and cleanen up the site each day. We needed to change up a work approach when the original plan would not be effective. Jim adapted and the change actually saved some money.

Jim and his team were great. They were on time, did excellent work and got everything cleaned up before leaving for the day. His carpenter went the extra mile on our old house, helping to get as close to level as the house would allow and discussing it with us first before cutting. I would definitely hire him again.
