"WE WORKED HARD WITH THIS CUSTOMER TRYING TO REACH AN AGREEABLE SOLUTION. A PIECE OF BLUE PAPER HAD BEEN LEFT IN A SHIRT POCKET WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT IN FOR CLEANING. DYE FROM THAT PAPER TRANSFERRED ONTO THE OTHER SHIRTS DURING CLEANING (RESIDUE FROM THE PAPER WAS STILL PRESENT IN THE POCKET, SO IT WAS EASY TO DETERMINE WHERE THE DYE CAME FROM). WE TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR CLERK'S OVERSIGHT IN NOT FINDING THE PAPER PRIOR TO PROCESSING AND WANTED TO MAKE IT RIGHT FOR THE CUSTOMER. WHAT THE CUSTOMER PERCEIVED AS “USED SHIRTS” WERE BRAND NEW SHIRTS WE PURCHASED TO REPLACE TWO OF THE THREE SHIRTS (A CHECK FOR $19.50 WAS GIVEN TO THEM TO REPLACE THE THIRD, A LAND’S END SHIRT THAT WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE). WE HAVE NEVER GIVEN A CUSTOMER A USED GARMENT TO REPLACE ANY THAT MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED IN PROCESSING. ONE OF THE TWO SHIRTS WE PURCHASED WAS THE EXACT SAME SHIRT AS ONE OF THE SHIRTS IN QUESTION AND THE OTHER WAS THE SAME BRAND AND STYLE AS THE OTHER SHIRT IN QUESTION, JUST WITH A DIFFERENT PATTERN AS WE COULDN’T FIND THE EXACT SAME PATTERN. WHEN PRESENTED WITH THE SHIRTS AND THE CHECK CUSTOMER REFUSED THEM AND GAVE THEM BACK TO THE CLERK. OUR STORE MANAGER THEN TRIED CALLING THEM TO DISCUSS AND HER MESSAGE WAS NEVER RETURNED. THE WHOLE PROCESS TOOK A FEW WEEKS, NOT 3 MONTHS, PRIMARILY DUE TO OUR MANAGER BEING OUT OF TOWN FOR A WEEK DURING THAT TIME AND THE CUSTOMER NOT BEING ABLE TO BRING THE SHIRTS BACK IN FOR US TO INSPECT DUE TO COMPANY IN TOWN."
