For the time spent, it was very worth it.

East Portland Locksmith recognized the lock/mechanism and repaired it onsite. They worked with my schedule and came right on time. It was fast and easy (for me)!

There were a few glitches that caused the repair to take a long time, but they did not run the meter up.

It was very smooth and efficient. I've had no problems.

Representative arrived 30 minutes ahead of time - so I am glad I was home. Glad he came early. He was professional and very fast on installation. Cost was exactly what Barbara quoted me on the phone and everything works well. My only surprise was that the man didn't clean up the saw dust and pick up wooden pieces from the install at each door - inside or outside. I had to go back and sweep and pick up wooden "holes" after he left. Other than that--- the work was fabulous and fast.

I've used several locksmiths and they were mostly good, but from the start of the call to East Portland Locksmith the woman could identify exactly what I was talking about.  
The other four locksmith's I called would charge me from $15.-$65.00 to look at it and then charge me whatever they desired to repair or replace. I was already "locked" in.  I decided to try fixing it myself.
I went to East Portland Locksmith, the 3 employees looked at my old lock, conferred and concluded it was actually an easy resolve, add another ring, which they gave me free.
I went home, put it back together with the additional spacer ring and wha la - it works!!!

Everything was excellent. The prime reason I've stuck with them is because they've been in business for 63 years. It's a family owned and passed down business.

Friendly people. Fixed my lock quickly. I would absolutely use them again.

They came out to our house and installed one new doorknob and deadbolt and then rekeyed other locks to the new key. They were prompt, quick, and knowledgeable. We would definitely use them again!

Various hardware stores have been unable to make duplicate keys that work for my front door lock.  I brought the lock and some working and non-working keys in and they immediately identified the problem and made me 4 working duplicates.  They are really friendly and easy to talk to.  My lock is pretty new, but this shop looks like it probably has original parts for 130 years of portland lock history.

The locksmith was ontime and very professional.
We had them re-key all the door locks and keyed the same.  We also had them make a custom key for a lock that we did not have a key for.  This showed how well they are and was well worth the money.  To change everything would have taken a decent amount of labor on my part.
We would use them again and recommend them.

John showed up at exactly the appointed time to re-key the front door on the house I just bought.  He was quick, efficient, professional, and quite helpful when I also then asked him if he'd look at the back door and suggest what to do with locking it better than currently.  I plan to call the office again to make an appointment to have him back with what's needed to deal with that door-lock (double-key deadbolt rather than current slide-bolt on inside).

Convivial elder gentleman runs the locksmith shop with help from younger man...Elder man tells fascinating stories about the history and events of early years and customers stand around, listening, smiling...it's like walking into a time warp of old fashioned goodness, honesty and real service.  I didn't want to leave the shop. They're wonderful people who helped remind me what community really looks like and how to provide service with kindness.

This is the business that is all about old time service, kindness, great service, competence, knowledge, experience and if you're lucky, a an old time story about the owner, when he was a kid.  These folks know keys, locks and all related business since they've been doing it for probably 40-50 years.  Life is short.  Go meet these gentlemen, just as a kindness to yourself.  Having them in my neighborhood makes living here all the better.. They repaired the original front door lock of our 1932 Tudor home and it functions as smooth as new.The charges for the front door repair and new keys were extraordinarily inexpensive.  We even offered to pay more and they refused.

The lock, like our 99-year-old house, is old. It had stopped working completely, resulting in family members getting locked out of the house. Wanting to keep a lock the vintage of the house and to not waste resources, we decided to get it fixed instead of replaced. I took the lock and all its pieces to Vern's business. Even though I was a drop-by customer, I got helped immediately and the work was completed while I waited. Vern worked on the lock for an hour and twenty minutes, but he only charged $10 for labor! Another locksmith, John, was also available and made extra keys for me while I was waiting. Remembering Vern and John's instructions, I was able to walk my husband through the steps needed to reattach the lock (which has many components) to our front door. The lock now works better than ever!

It went well. He replaced all the locks, was really knowledgeable about my options as far as re-keying and made recommendations I'm happy with following. He spent a while with each lock to make sure the differing brands all worked with the same key.

I set up an appointment for a Monday which they missed. Apparently somebody's vehicle broke down. I set up an appointment for the next day which they showed up on time for. The guy was professional and diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly. He took the time to explain what was wrong and show me the lock mechanism. I believe the cost of the repair was fair. I'd use this company again.

Our experience with East Portland Locksmith was excellent. They were prompt, courteous and did very good work. By that, I mean that they removed all of the locks, rekeyed the tumblers, and reassembled everything without damaging either the hardware or the doors.

They do excellent work and are quick to respond. Because this was the front door, they had all the parts and equipment with them, so they did not have to go back to get anything.

Promptly responded to my call for an appointment...within 90-minutes. Immediately unlocked my mailbox as I had misplaced the keys after moving into my new residence. Bob S. worked with me to carefully evaluated what I wanted done. He explained the differences in newer door-handle locks and my existing ones. He left to search for the hardware I wanted. Our schedules conflicted for later that first day. He promptly returned the next day (after phoning first) to show me the available hardware and price points. I did not want the expensive hardware he brought so he departed to find more. The next morning he returned (after phoning first) and had everything that I wanted as to the color of the hardware and the price points I liked. He efficiently installed all the items and provided me with all the keys I requested. The entire experience was very cordial and business like. I really enjoyed working with Bob S.

Vern has handled every lock problem I've brought him, from routine to (literally) off-the-wall.
