Description of Work: I visited the store in St Johns neighborhood of Portland, OR. |Picked out an appliance & arranged delivery of the slightly damaged dryer. |The only issue I have with the business is the scraped part of the |riser of some steps on the stairs to the 2nd floor flat. If |I had know how it would be hauled up the stairs, I could have put down |some painters tape that may have prevented the scrapes. |I discovered these scrapes several months later & neglected to inform the |business. I should have told them so they could inform other customers who |need appliances on 2nd floor. |The "B grade" for responsiveness was because it was sometimes challenging to get a response from the store in a timely manner. |But still believe the store is worthy of a "A grade". |Thank you.

Description of Work: The repairman did a great job putting in a new stove part - the whole flat too was fried. I asked him what the price was and he said only his one service call plus the part. He came out twice. He would not let me pay him until I was happy. |Great service, quick, friendly and professional.

+ -1 moreThe dispatcher at E and M is very friendly and helpful and was able to schedule Mr. Rabe at a time that was convenient for us. They do not ask you to be at home 'in the afternoon' or 'in the morning', but instead schedule for a specific time. Mr. Rabe arrived on time, got the work done quickly and correctly and gives you the impression he really enjoys what he does. I would have him back in a heartbeat and highly recommend E and M. He's even looking for a used part for my ice maker which he'll give me for free if he has a spare one in his garage!
Description of Work: I have had Don Rabe who works out of E & M's office, come to my home two different times. The first was to repair a 15-year-old stacking washer/dryer and the second was to repair a 6-year-old dishwasher.

Description of Work: Had a HE3 washer that wouldn't drain, its also a Whirlpool duet, which many repair men don't know how to work on, I had sears come out and quote me at $350. E & M came out and it ended up being a lint container that I didn't know needed to be emptied every few months and it worked GREAT. The repair man was very knowledgeable.

+ -1 moreThe other company I called was booking appointments a week in advance - and $90 for the service call. I called Eand M on Friday and Don was at my house Monday morning. He was running an hour behind schedule but called to let me know. In a half an hour he had the face off, cleared of the 36 cents in change, one framing nail and 2 sheet rock screws caught in pump and had it all buttoned back up.
Description of Work: Washing machine wasn't pumping out water and making a loud grinding noise.

Description of Work: In talking to the repairman over the phone he ascertained that our washing machine was shot and probably not worth fixing. I was in complete agreement with him. He mentioned that they had a similar washer that they'd gone through and that the price was $399, so I agreed t buy it sight unseen over the phone and pay the $50 for them to deliver it that afternoon - we really needed to do some laundry. So far it works great.

Description of Work: They replaced a burned out motor in my dishwasher, the diagnosed the problem and repaired it. They ordered the part, and their labor fee was realistic ( $30.00). Their "diagnostic fee" was $69.95 - realistic as well.

He was on time, very professional and recommended not fixing the washing machine, because of the expense of the problem. I was impressed that he took, so much time to look at different options that would best work for our family. In the end he realized that we were better off with a new washing machine and recommended that avenue even though he knew it would not benefit his company. I appreciated his professionalism and the time he took to look over our situation. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to repair or replace appliances.

+ -1 moreThe guys at Eand M seem to go out of their way to do what they can to make this an experience as good as possible. Everyone was friendly, and Don showed up on time. He worked on three machines in two locations on the same day for me, and was courteous and professional at both places. Even though there were two machines at one address, they only charged me for a single machine service call.
Description of Work: Serviced two commercial driers, and replaced the water pump and serviced a washer.

Description of Work: I had a grinding noise in my usually quiet dishwasher. Rick came out to diagnose the problem and found a small piece of plastic, which I later discovered to be from a utensil. I haven't had any problems since.

+ -1 moreWORK TOOK LESS THAN 30 MINUTES, BUT ONLY BECAUSE THE DEFROSTING WAS DONE PRIOR TO HIS ARRIVAL. IN THE PROCESS OF FIXING THE REFRIGERATOR, HOWEVER, HE POPPED THE LIGHTS AND DID NOT REPLACE THEM. ONE WENT OUT WHEN TAKING THE COVER OFF, THE OTHER PUTTING THE COVER BACK ON. WE WERE LEFT TO REPLACE THE BULBS OURSELVES. HE DID GIVE US A VENT COVER FOR THE LOWER PART OF THE REFRIGERATOR FREE OF CHARGE, BUT CHARGED US $10 EXTRA, SINCE HE WENT OVER THE ALLOTTED TIME LOOKING FOR LIGHT BULBS HE COULD NOT FIND.

+ -1 moreFRIENDLY, THOROUGH, TAKES PRIDE IN DOING THE JOB RIGHT. RICK SAYS HE SPENDS HIS CUSTOMERS' MONEY LIKE IT WAS HIS OWN, AND MY EXPERIENCE YESTERDAY IS AN EXAMPLE OF THAT.
Description of Work: MY DRYER WOULD NOT HEAT. RICK TROUBLE-SHOT EVERY ASPECT AND DETERMINED THE FAULT TO LIE WITH THE SENSOR. IN THE PROCESS HE CLEANED THE DRYER AND OILED WHATEVER NEEDED OILING. HE TOLD ME THE DRYER WOULD STILL WORK ON THE TIMED CYCLE (WHICH IT DOES) AND THAT HE WOULD CALL ME TODAY WITH A PRICE ON THE SENSOR. HE DID CALL TODAY; THE SENSOR IS $100 AND HE AGREED WITH ME THAT I SHOULD JUST USE THE TIMED CYCLE AND LET THE DRYER RUN OUT ITS LIFE. IF THE ELEMENT SHOULD GO OUT, THAT WOULD BE ANOTHER $60. (IT'S A GE-HOTPOINT DRYER & PARTS ARE EXPENSIVE.) I COULD GET A NEW DRYER FOR $299. SO I PAID HIM ONLY $59 FOR A SERVICE CALL AND GOT WHAT I FEEL IS GOOD ADVICE. PLUS, I'LL GO TO E & M FOR THE NEW DRYER WHEN I NEED IT.
