Dan applied two coats of paint to these areas over a two-day period. I paid him and said I would call and let him know after the paint dried if there were any missed spots. He replied, "There won't be any missed spots." In fact, there were many, on all the walls and ceiling, and he did not clean up the paint he had splattered on the floor. I called back to set a time for him to return. He questioned my assessment of the paint job, then said he didn't know when he could get back over as he had other jobs he was committed to, that he would call me the following Wed. and let me know when he could come. (This was on a Sat.) I said I had to have it done no later than Thurs. as I had a house guest coming on the week-end. Finally, he reluctantly agreed to come on Thursday. In the meantime, I had three other people take a look just to make certain my expectations were not unreasonable. All three said it was a very poor paint job. He did return on Thursday to redo the rooms though he was not happy about it and left more paint spotches on the floor. Some of the areas I had marked that needed redoing were still missed. My son took care of those later. Not only was the job done poorly, but it was an overall unpleasant situation. I have never written a poor performance review before, but I decided in this case, by doing so, I might save someone else from a similar experience.
