Don McNeff Floor Service

The 100-year old fir floors in two rooms in my home were a challenge for sure and they turned out pretty good considering the shape they were in. There were some spots in key areas that still need to be dealt with -- stain sort of pooled in areas -- and Don's son was very nice about showing me how fix them, although I'm a bit disappointed that he or his Dad didn't follow through with making the spots meet my satisfaction since I haven't followed through with trying to fix the spots yet because I've been dealing with health issues of a family member. Some of the equipment needed to remove particles from walls, ceiling, etc. was apparently broken so that part of the job wasn't done. However, the cost of the refinishing was far less than the two other estimates I received from others. Overall, I would hire this company again and I liked Don and his son.

When I bought my house, the floors were covered with old, ugly carpeting. Below the carpeting, there was a series of archeological layers of paint and previous finishes. In the kitchen, there were several layers of linoleum and tar paper on top of each other. I got a handyman to rip up and take away the carpet and linoleum, then called Don McNeff. This was a big project, taking many days, as he sanded down through the different layers to the beautiful doug fir floors below. After finally getting them down to bare wood, he did spot repairs here and there as needed, then laid down three coats of polyurethane finish. It came out looking great. He also refinished every step of my stairway, which had consisted of paint and carpet tacks. That also looks beautiful now. Don is a decent gentleman who was good to work with and obviously knows what he's doing. I feel like I got more than my money's worth and my house is transformed. If you need your floors refinished, I would recommend giving him a call. I believe that the cost is also somewhat less if you don't have several layers of paint to sand through : ) Thanks Don!

Don called me back right away and was very clear on what he would be doing, how I needed to prepare, and what his schedule looked like. I was trying to finish before moving into the house, and he was able to accommodate me into his other jobs to my complete satisfaction. He was very upfront, and did a very thorough job. Floor refinishing is a messy job, and Don cleaned up as expected at the end (he leaves the sanding for me to dispose of, but that was agreed up front).

Don was very responsive to my call. He returned my initial call within a day and came to the sight to estimate within 24 hours. I was on a bit of a time crunch and Don was efficient and followed through on what he said he would do. He offered to return if I had any concerns and did come back to refinish one area that needed some touching up. His price seemed very competitive and reasonable and he always kept his commitments. He left the job site clean and the floor looks so much better. I would recommend him and use his service again if needed.

Don did an excellent job and my floors look amazing! I like that he owns his business and isn't a giant company. I feel better supporting small locally owned businesses. I even referred him to my neighbor and she loved the job he did, as well. His prices are low compared to others I called, and still the quality of work is great. He's to the point (not very chatty) but he gets the job done!
