DEREK'S SHOE REPAIR

Derek's did an OUTSTANDING job with replacing the insoles with a material that fit with the style of the shoe, and made it look brand new. I've come to Derek's before for a number of shoe repairs and they have been consistently outstanding. I brought in a pair of heels with beige patent leather that gets marked up easily and is hard to clean. Derek made them look brand new as though I had just purchased them. He even assisted with attaching back a leather strap on my wallet free of charge, and he mentioned that for minor things such as punching extra holes on belts, these are done for free as a courtesy. Derek and his staff take pride in their work, and are truly artists in the field with what they do. I had gone to a shoe repair in Beaverton with a pair of tango shoes where the soles needed to be glued back in, and they only did one shoe and charged me for both shoes, and only polished one shoe! Derek's was no comparison! They are the best shoe repair service I have gone to in Portland, bar none!

Both my wife and I have had shoes repaired and maintained at Derek's for many years. They've always exceeded my expectations. Courteous, pro, and a great value. The two things we get done most often are heel replacement/recapping/wrapping and adding protective soles. Anything I bring in comes back spotless and shined. I'm wearing shoes that would have been trash 5 years ago otherwise, simply by getting worn heels replaced every year or so. (I do a ton of walking.) This costs $20 a pop. If you pay in advance, they knock 10% off the top, so I actually pay $18. Protective soles are just very thin – but tough – rubbery skins that are added over the part of leather soles that contact the ground. They allow you to get away with leather soles in Portland year-round. I have Derek's add these by default with any new pair of shoes. Turnaround can vary a bit if they're especially busy. I've never had to wait more than a week and work has always been complete when promised. You can call or look up your claim check number on their website to confirm your items are ready before you stop in. I've never used their pickup/drop off service or curbside pickup as I work nearby. But they offer both of these things for free and I can see how it could be super helpful with parking being a hassle in the neighborhood.

WORST SERVICE EVER. I brought in 2 purses. Came in to get them 2 weeks AFTER they were supposed to be done and they hadn't even started on them. They acted like it was no big deal. 2 weeks later called to make sure they were done, and not only did they not do what they promised to do, but they were so extremely rude about it that I was completely baffled. Extremely terrible business practices!!

The man at the desk explained exactly how the work would be performed. Derek's offers a 10 percent discount for advance payment, which we took advantage of. Excellent work, reasonable cost. Extremely organized and professional shop. Great website as well. We will use Derek's for all of our future shoe repair needs.

Took two pairs of women's shoes - each about a year old and very well worn - in to be re-heeled. Derek was friendly and offered quick turnaround. However, within a month, both pairs of shoes had worn down heels again - the heel he used "smooshed" flat and the screws in the bottom of the heels were peeking through. I took them back in, since I've never had a pair of reheeled shoes wear down that quickly (it's not like I wore them every day). He offered to repair them again free of charge, and was very professional and apologetic. Same thing happened the following month. Shoes were unwearable a month later after only a handful of wears of each. I have since taken my business elsewhere.

Excellent service and quality! We brought in about 20 pairs of shoes with various needs. Derek and his employees did an excellent job with them, making all of them like (or better than) new. He removed inner soles to make room for orthotics, made suggestions about what kinds of repairs and improvements would be best. He said that about half of them would be ready in a few days. When I went to pick up the first half, he had finished all of them! Highly recommended.

He was was reasonably priced. Actually he was lower price than other that I found. He did the work in a timely manner. He was a very polite persons.

Did a great job--very pleasant and professional w a high standard of work. There is a 2-3 week period for their work to be done though.

They did a fabulous job! It was worth every cent and my shoes look and feel great! I couldn't have been more pleased. I would hire them again.

I would definitely use the services of Derek's again - I needed to refurbish a couple of pairs of my favorite shoes and the staff took care of me right away. The work was top-notch and I was able to pick up my shoes earlier than they first estimated. I also appreciate the fact that you receive a discount for paying for the work up-front.

The boots turned out great and the hand bag was back within a week, even around the holidays. All the shoes I've had done here are great and they are cheaper than another shoe repair whose prices made my jaw drop. Derek's is also located downtown which is convenient for me. Apparently they've got quite a fan club because they do require at least two weeks so be aware if you need something done right away--you may have a little wait.

Derek's knows how to repair shoes. They do a great job, you can barely tell that the shoes have a problem after they work on them.
