From a previous deck installation by another company years ago, rot in the rim joist, coupled with leaking windows proved a large rot repair project. Decks by JRW (Bjorn) coordinated the repair at a reasonable cost.
Could not be happier with the final product.
In October of 2010, we found evidence of a problem. Upon opening up a wall, we discovered extensive damage to a major support structure. It was caused by the lack of a flashing that should have been installed during the deck construction. I contacted JRW, sent photos of the damage and was told someone would get back to me. I called them weekly. The damage to the house needed to be fixed as it was perilously dangerous, and could cause further damage if let go. We had it repaired at a cost of $10,000. Four weeks after I first contacted JRW, someone came out to the house. The repair work had been done by then.
Decks by JRW would not stand behind their work. They said they were new owners and not the people who did the original work. They also said we didn't give them enough time to fix the problem. It took them until December to finally deny any responsibility. Last I checked, they still use photos of our deck on their website.
