David's Clockwork

A week later, David called to say it was done. He only charged me $85 (check or cash only)! I picked it up, brought it home, and it works great. Chimes all the hours correctly.

This clock had been going downhill for a while, chiming erratically and stopping when it should have been adequately wound.  A 2500 mile move in a U-Haul truck did not improve its attitude.  It simply wouldn't start up again.  We took it to David's with much trepidation.  David took it in, pronounced it French-made (we hadn't known that) and worth fixing.  That was surprising, until he told us what he thought it might cost.  David quoted a range of likely prices from $700 to $1200 but warned that the higher was most likely.
It was not quick, but David did exactly what he said he could accomplish and came in on budget.  He even apologized that it was the higher quote.  Months later the clock is still keeping excellent time and chiming sweetly.  We are very pleased.
David is deliberate, careful and professional.  He's not going to do a slapdash job.  He takes his time, so if you want something done extra fast (and you might reconsider that) David is not your guy.  But he does excellent work.  We have brought him our other chiming clock which, unfortunately, is not worth fixing.  He could have quoted us astronomical prices and promised the clock was worth the expense, but he didn't.  That's why we went back, and that's why whenever we have a clock that needs repair we will take it to David's Clockwork.

It went very well. 

While not greatly experienced with this type of service, we feel we got excellent attention and service. Regarding price, I checked 'Fair' because it is it appears we were charged a standard price for what our clock needed. If it was at the high end of standard the extra was worth it as the attention we got, especially the willingness to give useful information and answer questions fully, was thorough and offered willingly. It was a useful and valuable experience. I am confident these people know their business, and take pleasure ( and pride) in providing it.

Friendly and skillful service

The clock runs beautifully again.  The only "A" mark I did not give is on price, only because it seemed a bit expensive but I have no idea how long it actually took him to do the work, or how his rate might compare to others in the area.  I did not get competitive bids.

David cleaned, oiled and made adjustments to the clock's mechanisms. It is now running efficiently. .

David has my clock running again, keeping perfect time, and chiming in the same soothing tones that it did when it was new. I am amazed at his success as I really had little hope that the clock was "fixable". This man is an absolute genius with clocks.

MY OVERALL EXPERIENCE WITH DAVID'S CLOCKWORKS WAS A POSITIVE ONE. I WAS REALLY NERVOUS TO TAKE THIS CLOCK OUT OF THE HOUSE, LET ALONE LETTING SOMEONE ELSE TAKE IT APART. I AM VERY GLAD THAT I TRUSTED THEM, THOUGH, BECAUSE NOW I HAVE A REAL GEM TO TELL MY GRANDKIDS ABOUT AS WELL.
