Brian was prompt, professional and easy to work with. My floors look amazing. After seeing how good they looked, we had Brian refinish the floors on the upper level of our home.

Excellent. I could not recommend Brian more highly. Our floors look incredible. He had the work done exactly when he said he would, despite doing the work during a snow storm that dropped over 12 inches at our house. His craftsmanship was incredible, and he was a great person all around to work with!

He was extremely prompt in coming over to give us an estimate and was very knowledgeable and professional. HIs bid was very very reasonable. He started work immediately after we decided to hire him and we were walking on the floors within 3-4 days. The floors look AMAZING and really make the house shine. Far and away this may be the best $1,000 I have ever spent.I definitely would hire Brian again, as he also does work in other trades (i.e. painting, carpentry, etc).

I have had the great good fortune to find the best contractor in the world! His incredible knowledge and skill was apparent from the start.
All of the subcontractors that he brought in were top notch and punctual.
He was always on time and never left us hanging so that he could work on another job. He really cares about his clients and takes special care to insure that or lives were disrupted as little as possible. He always has a positive attitude. During the remodel one of our cats got lost and the whole crew helped me look for her and give suggestions on ways to find her. She had been found by the next morning and I was touched at everyone's concern and happiness when they came to work the following monring. He took me to many numerous showrooms and made sure I got the best value for my money be it paint, tile, appliances ect,. On several occasions he saved us a consideralbe amount of money in several of our choices. The guy has an amazing talent at knowing what affect color will make in a room and give that room the feel and ambience desired. He noticed the colors I surrounded my self with in other areas, such as clothing, the colors I used in the garden as well as colors of kitchen crockery and other decorative items,
and used to help select the right paint colors. He was really helpful in moving and storing most of our furniture and helping box up the entire contents of the home, making sure it was well protected. He made sure he and his crew were working continously while on the job. Long before the job was finished he was no longer "the contractor" but a good friend as well. I would highly recommend Brian Gwatlney for any
projects you would like done. You will be happy you did.

Brian did a great job, and went above and beyond to make my house look beautiful. I had planned to just have the trim and garage painted, because my house is stucco, and had never been painted. Brian did the research, and I ended up having him paint the body of the house as well. He repaired window sills, replaced a rotting header on top of my garage, and managed to wrestle some very ugly (and heavy) security bars off my windows. He cleaned up at the end of each day, and showed up each morning right on time. Overall, a very good experience, and my house looks fantastic.

Brian was attentive and professional at all times. He measured the floors and gave me a bid the next day with all the necessary legal documentation via email. When he came over to start I asked him how long it would take. He replied, "...until you are happy." With that, he was very meticulous with his work and everything went smoothly. If there was a spot that needed a touch up, then he took care of it right away. The bid was spot on and he didn't ask for anything else. He put up plastic sheeting on the doorways to minimize dust to the kitchen (which worked well). After the floors were complete he came back a week later and installed custom wooden thresh holds in our doorways for no charge. Actually, before he started the whole job he even helped move out the furniture to the POD. Great guy. I highly recommend.

I assist in managing 5 buildings downtown Portland and used Metro based on a recommendation. This was for a large difficult project of a complete rehab to a 56 unit building and we hired him to specifically refinish the hardwood floors in each unit. However, if needed to assist elsewhere in this massive overhaul Metro never faltered and immediately helped to get the job complete, and done to perfection. I was incredibly impressed with how not only did Metro meet our pressing deadlines, but the quality of work done as well. These floors had most likely not been touched since 1910 when the building was built based on the condition, but Metro had them gleaming like new when done. I have even had residents comment on them on more than one occasion. I would sincerely recommend Metro for your needs. He was truly a gentleman and very much a professional to work with, and took obvious pride in his work - as he should for even the owners were impressed and commented on the floors (and THAT is certainly saying something).

After walking around the yard and explaining what I wanted done - using the key phrases ''trim back so that I don't have to duck to walk by'' and ''clean up/shape up'' -I felt that Brian had a good understanding of what was being requested. He seemed friendly and professional so we went with his bid. Approximately 60% of the work completed was to our satisfaction. He ended up cutting 3 lilac trees back further than what we wanted - leaving hardly any vegitation ( no buds) and on one tree left three bare branches sticking up to no where. When I asked if they were to be cut back so far - he stated he didn't know very much about lilacs - my internal thought was, well why aren't you being a bit more conservative!). Brian was not afraid to take the shears/chain saw to branches without consulting or being a bit more conservative throughout the process to ensure satisfaction. As stated, we weren't unhappy with everything, just wishing he hadn't been so extreme and hoping the lilacs return.
