It went very poorly, he would show up when he wanted, work a few hours and leave to go fishing, sick etc. etc. etc. He then left the job unfinished with open floors nothing but the basic shower installed, plumbing done and some electrical. He came to my house and insisted I pay him his bill without checking out the parts and work done with my son, and when I wouldn't pay him right then and there, he left my house and would not give me my house keys back. He returned a day later and I paid him $100 less than his bill just to get rid of him. While in my house with my son he was disrespectful and down right mean to him. (my son is 26-Chris is late 40's) Chris actually tried to start a fight with my son and threw my house key in the driveway upon leaving. He stated "no one in his 28 years of business had ever questioned him or his bills". Including his 2-4 hour four runs to Home Depot. Needless to say, very bad experience and definitely not a friend.
Description of Work: Chris was to remodel our upstairs bathroom. It was pretty much gutted and he was an "sort of" family friend. He was going to install pre-fab shower, toilet, sink, medicine cabinet, frame in two walls and put shelves in wall and bring in the plumbing and electrical and had all kinds of ideas. He told us he was licensed and we trusted him without checking (big mistake). Since my son had done some work with him, he was going to help with the work and learn while they went along, but Chris would not let him and told him he did not want him "hanging over his shoulder and watching". His framing work resulted in nails through the wall into the hall and he told my son to cut them off and patch the holes and shower fan installed not up to code. He had quoted us an hourly rate of $40 hour but we thought he was licensed and a friend and didn't check. Wrong move.
