They do a very good job. We've been using them since we moved here. We have high regards for the cat hospital in Portland. They're fine on pricing. They're not out of line. I have no reason to give them anything other than an A. They do a good job. Very responsive. I have nothing negative to say.

Two appointments. One as an initial a year ago to start treatment (get meds) and then a year later for annual appointment. They did a very thorough exam (included a urine sample!) with an incredibly relaxed and helpful staff.

The cat was very relaxed. They have couple of office cats in there, very clean, all the people are friendly and nice. It was easy getting an appointment over there. I would use them again.

We have been going there for about six years. We haven't had to have anything major done so we are satisfied with them.

So we are now taking all 3 of our cats here. All the doctors are compassionate and explain everything to us in great detail. We can take all 3 in at once and get their check ups and vaccinations. The office and examining rooms are always sparkling clean. The staff and their resident cats are always friendly.

I have been very happy with Dr. La Raus and the care she has given my cats. Her staff was likewise very kind and helpful, and I found her fees to be very reasonable. For each visit, I was able to get an appointment either same day or within one or two days -- not a problem as this was no emergency. I would definitely recommend Dr. La Raus for cat care.

My cat died, but I think she received amazing care during her last six months of life. I will be taking the healthy cat there from now on.

I am so furious that I allowed my poor cat to be put through such agony for a week! This Cat Hospital in my opinion did my cat a huge disservice! This cat was in pain and could have died to the slow and fumbling care he received from Cat Hospital! The infection that had been growing ALL WEEK was pressing his lungs where he could barely breathe! The owner of Cat Hospital, Elizabeth Colleran is there TWO DAYS OUT OF THE MONTH made sure she operated and made sure Cat Hospital got a nice bundle, then claimed the cats blood didn't look right during the operation, so he needed better care at the 24/hour clinic! Cat Hospital certainly was lacking compassion and any kind of EMERGENCY services for my poor cat. If I would have been aware of the 24/hour clinic in Clackamas, my cat would have received PROMPT and a fast diagnosis the same day I brought him in. How wonderful that Dr. Colleran made sure Cat Hospital got $1,891.82 for their poor performance. Had I taken the cat to 24/hour clinic, he probably would have gotten better faster since they would NEVER left him for a week while trying to figure out what the problem was. When you let an animal get progressively infected and sicker, it takes more time for them to recover! The Cat Hospital didn't move too fast or care to get my cat diagnosed in a decent time frame! From now on when any of my animals need EMERGENCY CARE, I will be taking them to the 24/hour clinic in Clackamas! For five days 24/hour care I paid less than how much I was ripped off from the Cat Hospital. I called vets in my area trying to find someone decent I could take the cat to so they could give him his medication. Animals act different around vets, the techs know how to give them medications better. I hated having to do this to the cat, but he needed his medication given by a "professional" that does it faster than the owners can. All the vets offices were not interested in taking him in without doing all sorts of tests so they could make their money, and I didn't like their attitudes or remarks. So, I took the poor cat back to the Cat Hospital so they could give him his medications. Again! The Cat Hospital failed, let me know they have NOBODY to give medication on weekends or evenings so I needed to pick my cat up which I immediately did! On one hand we were happy the poor baby was home, but we were unable to get his medication in him without stress or struggles, but didn't have a choice. The 24/hour clinic was very helpful and went out of their way to check up or take my calls for advice on his care. I used this Cat Hospital two other times when I brought in two other cats for examinations and La Raus ALWAYS pushes blood tests. Those tests cost OVER $350 for each cat, La Raus was lame, and wanted more tests. NOPE! I don't understand reading other customers that were charged so little, but I've always paid too much in my opinion.
Response from Cat Hospital of Portland
"I WAS SHOCKED AND SADDENED TO READ THIS POSTING. WHEN FACED WITH SICK PATIENTS, JUST LIKE OUR COUNTERPARTS IN HUMAN MEDICINE, IT IS IMPORTANT TO RUN CERTAIN TESTS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, AND WE SELECT THOSE TESTS WITH CONSIDERATION AND CARE. ALTHOUGH THOSE INITIAL TESTS DO NOT ALWAYS ANSWER ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS, THEY DO GIVE US MUCH MORE INFORMATION THAT WHAT WE HAD TO BEGIN WITH, AND AS SUCH PROVIDE A ROAD MAP FOR THE NEXT STEP. THESE DECISIONS ARE AT THE CENTER OF THE SITUATION THE WRITER DESCRIBES. I AM SORRY THAT THE OWNER DOES NOT FEEL THAT I WAS HELPFUL OR THAT THE LAB WORK RUN WAS OF ANY USE. HOWEVER, I WAS ABLE TO CREATE A VIABLE PLAN BASED ON THAT LAB WORK THAT ULTIMATELY DID DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS PARTICULAR CAT HAD A VERY SEVERE ILLNESS THAT REQUIRED A GREAT DEAL OF CARE, BOTH TO TREAT INITIALLY AS WELL AS TO FOLLOW UP. BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF THIS PROBLEM, THE OWNER WAS ADVISED TO GO TO A 24-HOUR EMERGENCY FACILITY, ALTHOUGH WE DID BOARD HIM BRIEFLY AT OUR HOSPITAL TO ASSIST WITH GIVING HIM HIS MEDICATION. REGARDING THE WEEKEND THAT THE OWNER DISCUSSED IN HER POSTING, WE DID NOT REFUSE TO MEDICATE HIM AND KEEP HIM HERE; RATHER, THE CONCERN WAS WHETHER OR NOT HE WAS STABLE ENOUGH TO STAY IN A BOARDING FACILITY. I DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE OWNER AND SHE ELECTED TO PICK HIM UP TO TAKE HIM HOME. ON FOUR OCCASIONS BETWEEN 5/27/08 AND 6/12/08 WE CALLED THE OWNER AND LEFT MESSAGES TO CHECK ON THE CAT. NONE OF THESE CALLS WERE RETURNED. WE WORK VERY HARD TO PROVIDE COMPASSIONATE CARE TO ALL OF OUR PATIENTS AT CAT HOSPITAL OF PORTLAND. I AM SORRY THAT THE OWNER WAS UNHAPPY WITH HER EXPERIENCE HERE."

We just moved here and had to find a new vet. We were pretty satisfied with them also. Their price was in line with what we've paid before. We will continue to see them in the future.

I brought in my two adult cats that had been abandoned by a previous owner. The veterinarian and staff seemed knowledgeable, caring and meticulous in checking out Peach and Mango. The vet, especially, seemed prepared to give me as much time as I needed to answer my questions.

I was very impressed by the comprehensive exam and dialogue I had with the vet. She had a thorough understanding of renal failure. She also took my cats blood pressure, which I've never had a vet do before. My kitty was diagnosed with high blood pressure, which the vet felt might be contributing to her crying at night. I was prescribed medicines for her constipation and blood pressure. She also talked in length about my other cat, who was not even there, but gave me some advice and plans which were very helpful. Overall, I was impressed with the patient attention to detail, the willingness to answer my many questions and the accuracy of the diagnosis. I didn't have to hear "Well, your cat is just old".

From the receptionist to the the vet tech to the veterinarian, the staff was very kind and informative. The waiting room is very calm for kitties as they are the only animal serviced there and 2 resident cats wander around freely. Dr. Andrea told us in detail how she would operate and called us post-surgery as soon as she was able even though we weren't to pick kitty up for 5 more hours. The next day, kitty was having a bit of a setback - they got us right in, did a thorough exam, gave her a touch of painkiller and she was good to go. Dr. Andrea has wonderful animal sense and I was impressed with her "reading" of kitty and how she based some of her decisions on whether or not it would "stress kitty out" too much. Kitty is running around happy as can be 10 days later! Also, the price was very reasonable compared to other "A-list" vets in my area.
