Motor was smoking and we have not had any heat for the past month. Cleaned basement and called Carson. 1928 house had a few quirky problems. Couldn't remove burner motor due to location of the oil supply pipe blocking it and so he had to shut off the oil and disconnect the oil lines and then disassemble and remove the entire burner. A new motor was installed, lots of maintenance performed and when all was working correctly again, he cleaned up the oil drips and smell with a odor absorbing powder.  Best service ever received for our furnace in the last 36 years we have lived here!  

Carson Oil has provided me with service for more than 25 years.  This year, there was a crack in my heat exchanger so now I must replace my furnace.  The technicians (they sent two this year!) after giving me the bad news about needing a replacement, spent about 30 minutes talking through the different alternatives (80% efficiency versus 90+) as versus oil, and other topics related to the pending replacement.   There was no pressure to immediately buy or replace and I now have a couple of months to research and look at my options.

They were consistently responsive and reliable. I went through a couple of furnaces and repairs and they did their best with some faulty equipment that wasn't their fault. If I had stuck to oil, I would still be there customer. Their bid for a gas furnace wasn't as good as a competitor's else I would still be their customer.

We are longtime customers of Carson.   Their service is very good.  No matter which tech comes over, they know what they are doing.   It's easy to schedule them and work with their service department.

The installer was prompt, personable, and did a thorough, professional job.

Furnace repair. Over estimated cost to repair and did not put back the parts so I had to have them back 3 times before the fix was complete.

I have used Carson Oil twice for furnace repairs in the last several years. Both times they have been quick and responsive. The work this winter was simple, but two years ago it was exceptionally complicated! Over a cold holiday weekend, with our heat out, a Carson technician AND the supervisor labored mightily, finally solving a terrible gremlin of an electrical problem in my antique furnace.
It is a far cry from our past oil company (Carson's main competitor, I guess), who bungled things, seemed to up-sell services of dubious value (just like Jiffy Lube), and couldn't offer an emergency service call - to a family with no heat in freezing winter weather - for more than a week!

They are the nicest company. We had a locking gate access to our oil tank so they always had to call and remind us to leave the gate unlocked, and they always did.

The prices were competitive. And they maintained our ancient oil furnace. Never tried to talk us into upgrading or any of that nonsense. They said the furnace was in good shape, why not just maintain it and so we did, without a hitch for 20 years!!!

I would use them now, but we have a gas furnace.

They were very professional and they were the least expensive for what we wanted to do in our area. They really did a very good job.

The furnace did get fixed, even though I wasn't too happy about the price. They were courteous and everything else though.

Scheduled the appointment over the phone a few days prior--no problem. Dale arrived at the expected time. He was polite and removed his boots and wore booties when boots were required indoors. No excuses or complaints about the cramped location of the air handler in the attic--I swear like a sailor every time I have to go in there. Went through the checklist as expected and reported findings that proved to me that he had looked at things. Gave useful tips for future operation of our system to better meet our needs. Left the house for 20-min to drop off my son at school and felt comfortable leaving him in my home for that time period. On-site ~1.5 to 2hrs.

They arrived when they said they would and performed the work in less than one day. However, I was not informed by the salesman that I would need an electrical inspection. I did have some trouble hooking up with the Carson rep to get this done. My phone calls were not returned in a timely manner, but they did call back after a few days. Then there was some confusion about wether or not I did in fact need an inspection and a breaker replacement. In the end I did have to have a breaker replaced. But my brother never had this problem and retains the same brand and amp breaker that Carson replaced. Not a big deal, but the salesman never returned my calls after he got my check. I was fine in the end but I really should not have had to burn two vacation days to get this done. The vent pipes on my garage sealing could have been installe a litter cleaner in my opinion. Nothing special about the service I received from this company, but overall they got it done. That is why they get just a "C" grade.

Overall, Pat was very helpful and explained to me all my options. I referred my neighbor to him. I am a very clean person and explained that I didn't want a mess while they were here or when they left. The guys that took my old unit and put in the new one were very clean. Pat called me later in the day to see how it was going. He came by the next day and explained everything to me and how to operate it.

He was on time, and performed the work in 30min. He noticed a crack in the fire box but didn't really suggest that it should be taken care of immediately. He said to keep an eye on it during the next service run. I was concerned and he said replacing it would be a pretty involved job. I was surprised that he didn't try to sell the job. The burner was already clean so cleaning didn't take as long as anticipated. He left my basement floor clean and wiped up any spilled oil. He replaced the nozzle which was also very clean to begin with. The old filter was black and he put in a nice new clean one. Overall, I was satisfied with the service but maybe wanted more explanation of any possible carbon monoxide leakage from the cracked firebox. For the amount of time he spent cleaning and replacing parts, I thought that the service charge could be less than $100 maybe around $80-90.

The work was done quite well, and I like my furnace. However, the people that work for this company are slow, do not respond to any phone calls, did not install my furnace within two months of signing the contract. They also then neglected to send my bill for five months, even after I called them for it several times over that period, resulting in the loss of my rebate on the furnace from the energy trust. This is very unprofessional and that is generally how I found their representatives to be.
