A while ago, I purchased a new Canon D20 camera from a Portland Camera Shop. The black and white worked very well but the color pictures turned out mottled. I called the original shop and they told me it was a software problem and that I would have to go to the Canon website to get a fix.  Needless to say, that turned into a wild goose chase and I never got anywhere with that lame advise. I had a backup camera and used that whenever I needed a color picture.  I eventually gave my backup camera to my Grandson and then was faced with replacing the D20 or at least attempting to have it evaluated. I decided to go on Angie's list and found Camera Solutions. I called and told the representative of my problem and they said to bring it in. I am so glad I did! They accepted the camera and within a week emailed me a repair estimate for $167.00 (which included a $49.00 repair deposit).
The problem was a faulty image sensor, which was replaced. A far cry from a "software problem."
I have my camera back and it works like new. I highly recommend this camera shop as they feature inside sales of new and used cameras and equipment (mainly Canon and Nikon).  Check it out, they have some really good deals! They also feature an onsite repair facility. The staff and technicians are very polite and very responsive.  The repair charges are reasonable and the estimates are made on a timely basis.  What's not to like?

The lens barrier (an automatic lens cover that closes when the camera is turned off) was broken in the open position. Went to store 5/4/13, discussed the problem, signed paperwork, paid non-refundable deposit. Received email that the work was complete on 5/17.
The work was done correctly, so far as I can tell. It did take longer than I would have expected, but perhaps there was a shipping issue with the part. Another annoyance is that the lens was not cleaned. One would think that camera professionals would do that automatically as part of the ritual, especially since the lens barrier was removed. And the non-refundable deposit was annoying. What if they found the problem was not fixable? Would they still keep the money? That was not the case this time, but the thought itself is annoying.
Overall, the work was mechanically correct, but as a customer, I felt like just a commodity.

Camera Solutions' sales and service persons are professional, courteous, and very knowledgable. When I first called them within a few minutes I had confidence they had excellent knowledge of my Nikon D80 performance and repair. The sales person was straight forward with me indicating they may not have in stock some Nikon parts, and this would require sending the camera to Nikon for repair. For this case they estimated the repair time to be about 3 weeks. Even if the repair took extra time, I was confident this was the place to get the repair. Fortunately, the camera was repaired in shop and only took one day after I approved the repair on 1/4/13. After receiving my camera, I had several questions. (I am still learning this camera.) The sales person was very patient with me and wanted to spend the time to answer any of my questions. He also provided several very helpful suggestions how to care for the camera to minimize maintenance, how to get better performance, as well as, answer several technical questions. My wife and I were looking for a second smaller camera, and because I was so impressed with their professionalism, courtesy, and the excellent repair service, I ended up purchasing a CoolPix S9300 Nikon (point and shoot) camera. I would highly recommend Camera Solutions for any one looking for a Nikon or a Canon or a camera repair source. Also, what I really like about this company is they service what they sell.

Called them to get info, they were very nice and informative. Brought in the camera and they provided 24-hr turnaround for cleaning of the sensor and external clean of the camera and a lens, as promised. They took down and catalogued all serial numbers etc. and made sure I had all my accessories back. They did a nice job on the cleaning; the first time I had it done there, there was a very small and very peripheral smudge left, but not really a problem. When I brought it back for the next cleaning (just 'cause it had accumulated more spots and I figured I'd try them again) and mentioned the smudge that was there just to call their attention to its presence, they looked at it with me and said it was no problem to get off, and sure enough, they did a 100% perfect job cleaning it. I would definitely use them again.

My mother's old point-and-shoot film camera was refusing to take pictures, so I looked on Angie's List for camera-repair businesses and found this one. I chose it because it was the closest one to us. Shaun helped us when we came in. He told us that, unfortunately, they didn't repair the point-and-shoots anymore (hard to find parts, cost of repairs not worth the price of the camera). I encouraged Mom to look at a digital camera. Shaun was not at all pushy, just asked if we would like to see what they had. I told him we would like to see their simplest, easiest-to-use digital camera, as my family was being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century - slowly. :-) He was very understanding and brought out a neat little camera that I could understand and slowly teach to my mom, who was already nervous about learning something "high tech". Shaun took the time to show us the basic features that Mom would be using most often, and demonstrated step-by-step how to take a picture, delete, how to put in the battery, etc. He even set up the camera for us when we decided to buy it. His demeanor was kind and understanding, and he was quick to smile and put us at ease. Pricewise, the camera was about $10.00 cheaper than the same one in other stores. The store is very nice visually, and located right on the corner of Macadam and Dakota, so it's easy to find. We got a good value and Excellent customer service. I would recommend Camera Solutions to anyone looking for a camera. Thank you Shaun!

They know what they are doing. They know when they can repair something and when to send it out. I am a professional photographer, and I would recommend them.

They knew what the problem was right away. They repaired the camera in the timeframe they specified to begin with. They gave me an estimate of the cost and didn't have hidden extra fees at the completion of their work. They did a great job. I am pleased with this company and plan to return to them in the future.
