The roof replacement in 2015 went very well, as they sent their expert roofer, Jeff, to perform the work. The job cost $10K for the roof replacement + $1K additional for some roof repairs. In 2017, however, when we requested another quote for the remaining 2 squares of shakes to be replaced, CC&L president Dan Cornwell refused to quote. He declined to give any reason, but said they were very busy. We began our requests in May, and continued repeatedly through September, but Dan would not give us a quote. I even offered to schedule the job without a quote in order to get the job done before the fall rains began, but still no response. We would have appreciated an honest reply that a 2 square job was just too small for CC&L to consider.

The front office staff are friendly and understanding and informative. Their work teams were polite, respectful and efficient. They fixed the active leaks and showed us what we needed to do in the future to prevent them. The jobsite was left clean and tidy, there was no unnecessary noise and they were able to identify additional chimney work that we never could have seen. This is a company of consummate professionals who really actually care about their clients. They have earned our loyalty and our trust.

Courteous and efficient.  They do good work. I have used this company twice now.  The first time they power washed the whole roof, removed several valley tiles, replaced valley underlayment, reinstalled the tiles, cleaned the gutters, treated for moss. Also removed and disposed of an unused galvanized chimney pipe and roofed over it.  They even power washed some of the paint off the new tiles so they matched the older tiles surrounding it. This time they didn't need to power wash, but they hand brushed the moss off, treated for further moss, and cleaned the gutters. Was this price too high for that?  Well, it's a large roof surface, very high up, and over 30 years old.  I feel the value was there.  One of the few companies experienced with cement tile roof maintenance. Typically offer three services for cement tile roofs in my experience: Complete power wash and moss treatment, Hand brush and moss treatment, or just air hose off loose moss and treat for moss. All the bids I've gotten included replacement of up to 10 tiles.

C C & L did an outstanding job of working with Great Northwest Gutters to re-route a hidden gutter that was failing to provide drainage.  They were prompt and honest.  Highly recommended without reservation.  This work was done a property that I manage, and I would use them again in my business or personal properties.  They are one of the only companies in town that service tile roofs!!

They started in the fall and they just finished it in the end of January. Took a while to get them out here because they were backed up in their work. They wanted to plan it for when they could get it done. They warned me that they might not be able to get to it when I talked to them. I called them up, they came out and gave me a price and they warned me that it was going to be very expensive. I said my house is very expensive and I need it protected. They came out and did what they needed to do to may my house safer and keep it out of the weather. The roof still looks great. It looks better than when the other people had tried to do it. I was happy with their work. They were very professional, especially Mike.

One of the reasons I waited to post this review was the fact that we've had very little rain in Portland during the entire month of December. This past week we had a series of huge storms which provided a rigorous test of the repairs and then some. There were absolutely no leaks even though Dan Cornwell, the owner of CCand L Roofing, was concerned that a section of flat roof might prove problematic. It appears to have done just fine.
I should also note that I was out of town during the repairs, but one of my children was at home most of the time. He said he had very little interaction with the CCand L technician who went about his business in a highly professional manner. He never needed to enter the house even though there is very convenient access to the major flat roof section via the attic. The tech spent about two and half days making the repairs. He left no debris, and I would have been hard pressed to tell you if he had ever been there. While you might like to have more face time with your roofing technician, I think the sign of a true professional is to leave no evidence of his or her presence other than the absence of future problems.
Given that our house is almost 17 years old, I was also impressed that CCand L maintains its own inventory of our now-discontinued concrete roof tiles. Had they not had their own stock of these tiles, I'm not sure what we would have done. While we had about a half dozen spare tiles, I never expected that the company making the repairs would bring their own. I consider that truly exceptional. They even left behind another four of five tiles in case we needed to replace future broken ones. Dan showed me how to replace a tile and then let me try doing it on my own. I was sure I was going to break a perfectly good one, but it never happened.
If you have a non-traditional roof in need of repairs, be it tile, flat, or steel, I would highly recommend CCand L Roofing. They are totally professional. It's also worth noting that Dan Cornwell has held various roofing industry positions and is a real legend in roofing circles.

Very pleased with teams professionalism, and thoroughness, including cleanup.
Used CCand L after seeking competitive bids from two other highly recommended Angie's list service providers. For the total of work performed, CCand L was the lowest overall bid.
Work was done timely and team lead kept me apprised of what was planned each day and what was accomplished at the end of each day.
I would definitely recommend CCand L for tile roof repair.

Tile is not fun to work with due to lack of color choices, its fragile, and there is more (and higher quality products needed including expensive venting) to be done before the tile goes on as you only want to do it once. Mike was so patient during the estimation phase; we actually drove around and looked at other tile roofs so I could point out what I did not like (such as gray galvanized flashing which shows near some edges - reminds me of old garbage cans) - AND has a good relationship with the tile mfg. so we were able to save a bit of money on the freight cost due to economies of scale. The work crew was polite, careful of neighbors property, and built a pretty roof. There were a few edging areas that were not and quot;perfectand quot; enough for me so they went back and re-did it. Once I moved in, they came back to put up some additional flashing to divert water not going in to the gutter as anticipated. Over a year later; last December, they came back to seal around the fire place vent after the builder realized it had not been done by HVAC (who said the roofer should have done it). While nothing is certain when it comes to a business being operating in the future, for a tile roof; this company is as certain as one can get.

On Sunday night we discovered a wet spot on our ceiling just over the top of our TV. My husband quickly moved the TV stand a low and behold we started having a steady drip from the area. I called CC and L Roofing thinking that I would leave a message to be on their list for Monday. I couldn't believe a live person actually answered the phone at 8:40 pm on a Sunday night. She said someone would call me Monday morning for an appointment. At 8:30 am Jeff called me and by 10:30 am a repairman named Bill was already on his way to my house. He was very professional and showed me pictures of my roof where gables come together and there was only some worn calking and no flashing. He told me the repair would take about an hour to a hour and a half and the rest of my roof was fine. I was afraid he would tell me I needed a whole new roof. So he repaired and installed new flashing where needed. I was very impressed and thought the price of $275.00 was reasonable. It was raining pretty good outside when they did the repair on my roof.

They have spent over five years on this roof due to the complexity of finding a leak in the tile, but it was located and they were able to find a solution. The supervisor and his workers work well together and they have a high standard of work. They have have a lot of insight where lesser-experienced people may not. They have a synergy about their team and their work.

After returning numerous times to repair the leaks, and installing new skylights, the leaks continued by the ceiling fans. We thought the rest was repaired until we started to remodel our livingroom and discovered the leaks were still continuing in our walls. A contractor, we hired, repaired all the leaks and replaced the damage with new walls where the leaks were and in the ceiling. We still have covers over our vents to prevent leaks.

Our crew from CCand L, Harvey and Joseph, talked with us daily about their work on the project, keeping us informed of work they were doing and making suggestions about how they could improve installation of our roof. For example, they discovered the facia boards behind the gutters had been installed improperly by the original homebuilder and made plans with us about how to best correct this deficiency. They cleaned up the worksite during, and at the end of each workday and put away their ladders and other equipment to leave our home looking good in a neighborhood with very particular covenents and neighbors. We are very pleased with their work and the finished product.

He worked so hard, all the time in the rain! Really knew what he was doing. He made sure that since our exact tiles are no longer made, that he put the new tiles where they would not show and moved older tiles where they would. De did an excellent job.
