This is the second time I've hired BSC for a remodel project. They did such a splendid job of the first - a bathroom and kitchen remodel with new windows for the entire house, that I called them again with this new project. The did a great job once again, finished on time, paid attention to detail, solved some thorny problems and were most cordial throughout. They're a little pricey but well worth it and I trust Bryan, his son Ben and nephew Brian completely.

On budget and on time! Bryan, Ben, and Brian were great to work with. This was my first kitchen remodel and first major renovation project. Bryan was detail oriented and highly communicative throughout the whole project. His cost estimates were also incredibly transparent. I knew exactly where I was on the schedule at all times and he always gave me a heads up on next steps and/or anticipated delays. Ben and Brian did superb work from demo to installation and always left my house clean. I will definitely use them again for future projects.

Before retiring and closing my graphic design business, I used to tell my staff that the process of getting to the final product was as important as the final product itself. BSC's work is beautiful and exactly what I wanted. But the process was also very positive. Their crew and subs were all professional, courteous and pleasant to have around. I also appreciated their detailed and precise estimates, their responsiveness regarding change orders and overall management of the process.

I can't say enough about this company! After discussing the jobs, I received a detailed bid, and a calendar that laid out what would be done, and when. Also, I always knew who would be in my home. Bryan, the owner helped me with design, and where to buy my appliances and fixtures. Ben is a true craftsman, who takes pains to do everything right. Ben and his assistant, Brian left my home tidy and locked up at the end of every day. Every person, such as plumber or electrician were excellent. I have used contractors and handymen several times over the years, and I have to say, they are the best I have ever worked with. I highly recommend them! Worth every penny!

Bryan was great to work with. His pricing was within my budget and he was great about detailing all of the costs so I could make an informed decision. I had new bamboo flooring installed throughout the house and had the kitchen remodeled. Bryan was good about identifying any issues ahead of time. His communication was great and we ended up having limited and small change orders as a result. Great experience!

Bryan was willing to work with us through multiple plans and was very patient when we were deciding all of the final touches of our kitchen remodel. We were out of town for the entire remodel and Bryan and his crew were extremely trust worthy and we felt confident leaving them in our home while we were gone for seven weeks. He even brought packages into our house so they would not sit on our front porch. The work done by BSC was high quality and they had an extreme attention to detail. Bryan does not work with big box stores, but chooses to work with contractors he has worked with for years. This shows in the high quality work and quality of the products. BSC is easy to work with, great listeners who cater to the customers needs and have the customers best needs in mind at all times. He was easy to get a hold of and was receptive to any changes we needed to make as the project was in progress. Lastly, the remodel was finished by the time we got home. Just under seven weeks! BSC Contractors is highly recommended by us for any major remodels.

Very well. Our existing shower was replaced with tile shower. The bathroom door was replaced with a Pocket door and our flooring was replaced with LVT tile. The workmanship is excellent.

Absolutely flawless. BSC and team are amazing. The workmanship is top notch. They stay on their schedule. If there's a need to make schedule changes they let you know upfront. They pay attention to detail all the way down to making sure door knobs match the rest of the knobs throughout the office. They make recommendations throughout the project that will always improve the final outcome, but as the customer you're not obligated to accept their recommendations. They are a hassle free contractor. This project was remodeling the main bathroom. I wanted to keep it simple to retain the original house design. Love the bathroom and my husband who's hard to please is very satisfied. This is my second time contracting with BSC so I had no doubt I would be a happy customer. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

We couldn't be happier with BSC General Contractors and would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone doing a kitchen or bath remodel. From the moment we met Bryan it was obvious he knows old homes, ours is almost 110 yrs old. He had great suggestions for the new bathroom, listened to what we wanted, and then was very honest about what he felt would and wouldn't work within our space. He was very prompt with the quote. From the quote to the end, there was very little change, except for additions we made along the way. His quote was very detailed, listing what BSC was providing, but also clear in what we as owners were responsible for. We were given a schedule at the very beginning. Any changes to the schedule were sent to us immediately and in the end the job finished right on time. Bryan's workers and all the subcontractors were courteous, respectful and knowledgeable. At the end of each day, everything was picked up and cleaned. Any questions or concerns we had during the process were immediately addressed. We love our gorgeous new bathroom and will recommend BSC to everyone with full confidence.

Brian and his team were amazing. I had heard endless stories about delays in construction times non-responsive contractors and final costs way over budget, BSC General Contractors was none of the above! Brian was in constant communication and clearly laid out the budget and revised often. I was 7 months pregnant during the remodel so was on a clear deadline for finishing the work, Brian assured me it would be done on schedule and he stuck to that. I would certainly hire BSC again and would absolutely recommend them to family and friends.

Bryan was a total professional in every aspect of this job. His estimate wasn't the cheapest (although I should also mention it wasn't the most expensive either) but I'm so glad that I chose him. He came for the quote when he said he would, gave me a detailed estimate of all the work that was right on the money, made a schedule and stuck to it, the finished product is exactly what I was hoping for, and came by personally to make sure that the glass enclosure contractor fixed a small issue (that indeed has been solved). He also suggested adding a shelf to the shower (which hadn't occurred to me, but totally should have) that makes it a more functional space. I couldn't possibly recommend Bryan more. I will definitely be calling him again if I need additional work.

We could not be more pleased with our decision to hire BSC to remodel our master bathroom and hall bathroom. They worked with us closely throughout the entire process, from the initial design and demolition to the installation of finishes. Every time an issue arose, BSC had a solution--and none of those solutions involved charging us more money! This is a family business, and it was immediately clear that they had a close-knit and knowledgeable team that really cared about the work they were performing. They were respectful of our home, and cleaned and locked up each and every day before they left. Most importantly, they finished on schedule and on budget--and the craftmanship and work was incredible. We simply could not be happier. These are quality people running a quality company.

This was our first remodel job (my husband & I are retired) and Bryan was exceptionally patient with our decision making process while guiding us along the entire way. When he sets a calendar for each stage of the process, he sticks to it. We'd heard stories about getting contractors to stay w/ respective jobs, but our experience with BSC General Contractor was all positive. We had the hard work of clearing everything out, living in our downstairs, and doing what Bryan called our 'homework': pick out our appliances, counter top and cabinets. The sub contractors he works with are professional and experienced & therefore very helpful with all our questions. Also we can't say enough about Bryan's son, Ben, who is extraordinarily skilled as is Bryan's nephew, Brian, at demolition while keeping the area they worked in clean. And since our home is from the 70's and has 'settled', Ben knows how to work with uneven walls, floors, etc and make the new countertop, cabinets and tile work evenly! The team is responsive, always timely, easy to communicate with and kept on track even with a few days of snow/ice. We are budgeting to have our bathrooms remodeled hopefully later this year and will not hesitate to hire Bryan to do this work for us.

Better than I could have imagined. I have had a few remodeling projects done. This is the biggest one by far. Bryan was beyond helpful. His expertise and guidance was so valuable. I had some ideas. Some good some bad as it turns out. Bryan was able to guide me through the process. I had the utmost confidence in his ideas and suggestions. I was given a schedule to approve before one nail was pulled out. Everything was ordered decided on and scheduled before the demo. The schedule went according to plan with no delays. Construction debris was cleaned every day. I would not hesitate to recommend Bryan and the entire BSC crew to anyone with a project. Not the least expensive but by far not the most expensive. I felt that I got every penny worth. The attention to detail and professionalism is without compare. I would happily work with BSC again and you should too!

Excellent! Highly recommended. Bryan and Ben were a joy to work with. Bryan was really patient and helpful, and open to our ideas while giving constructive feedback based on his extensive experience. Ben is meticulous and makes sure the work is done right. Both of them, and all the folks working for them (including their subs), were highly professional and always on time (or would let us know if they weren't). We didn't do a lot of comparison shopping so I can't say whether they are more expensive than other contractors or not - but we certainly found them to be good value and we're thrilled with what we got in the end.

Better than one would ever expect. Not only punctual, but he gave us a schedule showing all work being done within 30 day, each day marked with what would be done that day. Totally on time. High quality work. Absolutely beautiful results. We have recommended them to many friends and many have hired him. His base line budget is not based on Builder grade but on upgraded materials. Could not possibly say enough good things about Bryan and his son. Fantastic work. Great people. Since I cannot enter this inthe approx costs below, it was a $50K project.

This is the second time I've hired BSC and have consistently been thrilled with outcomes. Completed on schedule even with the contractor, Bryan Schmitz, in hospital for several days and one of the crew had limits on his work schedule after twins born. A few unexpected expenses due to 2 asbestos tests required by the landfill, and additional requests and authorization by owner.

The end product ended up being very good. BSC is upfront about the pricing, which we liked. Some contractors will just throw everything into one number and you're not sure how things break out. Brian's son Ben is excellent and a wizard with just about anything he touches. We were extremely impressed with Ben. If Ben were running this company, we would recommend them to others and use them again. The Brian part wasn't so impressive. We found Brian to be challenging to deal with. There were a few issues, as there will always be, with a remodel. We had marble stone tiles delivered which didn't look like what was ordered. Brian drug his feet in and didn't want to go to bat for us. It took a lot of pleading on our part for him to get involved. He is the GC, you'd think he'd apply his leverage when even he admitted the product didn't look right. He finally did, but only after our repeated requests and requiring us to pay the vendor a re-stocking fee. Brian's selection of showrooms to see (and not see, he doesn't work with George Morlan at that time?) was annoying. We live in west Portland and had to drive to the Airport area and towards Canby to look at appliances and have granite cut respectively. Another example is early on, as the downstairs was going through demo, there was a person who was going to possibly purchase one of our old appliances. When Brian heard this, he said they wouldn't move the appliance out of the house even though they'd moved everything else. I asked why not and he said, "the person who might buy it can take it out". Well, we didn't know if he'd buy it but more importantly, in the contract it clearly stated BSC would demo and remove all appliances. Brian refused to do it. I talked with Ben and he took it out. The real reason we wouldn't ever use Brian again is because of how he treated my wife over the phone. We had constantly paid him with a check every step of the way. Never late. One morning my wife asked a question about the job and he said nothing further would happen until he handed her a check. We had never once been late and hadn't received a bill or request for any additional money. We were offended at his rudeness. So, while the work ended up being good (some parts excellent) the process or working with Brian wasn't.

"After getting a Review Notification from Angie's List on 8-23-17 I find that this review was sent on 4-25-17 but just got posted so my response is a little late? After three years & someone sends a review it may be hard for me to recall all the events that took place so I had to review what I have in my file that is documented, but it helped bring back what I can remember. I have to dispute the things I have documented in the signed contract & change orders that we have on file. First, I could not find a restock charge on either of the written change orders I have in my files for the special order marble that was ordered! The distributor waived the restock charge if they would purchase a replacement tile from them, but I believe we got the second selection from another distributor & we absorbed the restock charge. When I took the Marble back to the distributor I put it up against the sample in the showroom & it looked as close as a natural stone can that is mined through different veins in the Earth, so I do not ever recall saying "the product didn't look right" Second, my contracts always have disposal or recycle the appliances not being reused stated in the Demolition line item. There is no such statement in their contract because they told me they were going to have someone take them away. I am pretty sure we moved everything because it is the first thing we have to do to demo the rest of the kitchen. I do not recall saying "the person who might buy it can take it out" because we had to get it out of our way anyhow? Third, the payment in question was in the contract to be made on 7-22-14 at countertop install. After viewing the template layout just days before install of the Granite slab that they picked out they did not like a vein location in one of the pieces to be cut that day & wanted to select another slab which caused a reschedule of the entire job. Two weeks later on 8-5-14 we installed the new slab, so on 8-7-14 we sent the interim invoice. The Work Completed Date: 7-30-2014 above on the review was from the original schedule that we revised to have final inspection on 8-15-17 but did not actually get final inspection until 8-27-17 because of all the material selection delays & installation rescheduling needed to be done! Sorry that this has been smoldering with you for three years. My recollection is your job was the biggest challenge I have ever had to complete, even though not on schedule like the rest of our jobs usually are. I wish you well with whomever you use for future projects. Bryan"

Brian and his team performed well... however, 12 years later, the roof installed over the bedrooms failed (water pouring into the bedrooms) . When trying to recover it was found that they used shoddy methods with respect to the ceiling line. There were entire sections not screwed down to cover up the fact that the new joists did not match the existing joists. We have also found that new walls do not match existing walls and the drywall screws are protruding.

"This is the first that I have heard of my clients having a problem? If they would have called me I would have tried to help fix the problem, but I do not know what the source of the roof problem was. After going over the records I have of the job we did not do a complete roof which we would normally do, but just tied into existing for some reason. Maybe the existing was not very old or if we did the whole roof it would have been much more costly & may not have fit into their budget? I tried to call the client to find out what happened after reading this review, but the number I have in my file has been disconnected. Please call me if you read this! This was a six week project that started on time and finished within one day of the original schedule. Bryan, Ben, Brian, and the subcontractors went out of their way to maintain the schedule in spite of our occasional change request. The only blip was the flooring supplier could not provide the carbonized bamboo as promised, but the flooring contractor found another source and worked extra to maintain the schedule and budget. Matching the kitchen cabinets was perfect, and the custom built vanity is great. The new floor is incredible! All of the people working on our project were courteous and professional, and went out of their way to minimize disruption to our daily lives. The whole project was a very positive experience. This is our second remodel project with BSC (20+ years apart), and both have turned out as promised and very much enhanced our house.

Bryan, Ben & Brian are FANTASTIC to work with. Very professional and extremely detailed in all finish work. Our fully tiled master bathroom is beautiful! I've yet to find even the smallest irregularity (finished approximately 4 months ago). New cabinets, tiled floor, fully tiled double shower, etc. - all looks perfect. We are very picky and they have met all expectations... We received bids from 4 contractors before proceeding with BSC.
