Watches were sent, he only allows email correspondence, no address, no phone. Watches were repaired in good time, it did take me some to pay for them. I received the watches, immediately after opening the package, one watch ran fast 72minutes per day. When I asked about it, he wanted me to go through a 24 hour analysis to perform a “performance check” I sent pictures of both watches, hanging as he asked, with a picture of my wristwatch for comparison. It showed as I stated. He eventually offered to warranty the work after many emails. I passed, said I’d find someone local. The following day, the other watch started randomly stalling. These are problems the watches had when I sent them to him. After many email correspondences he did again offer to remedy the work under warranty, after pointing out that it took me time to pay him. And my “sparse experience” with old watches didn’t concern him much, nor did my “emotions” which I had none, short of being duped. I have all the email correspondence and pictures. If I can find him, I’ll probably take him to small claims, however that has proven to be difficult as he has hidden himself quite well. I chose not to send them back to him because I feel he does not have the necessary skills to perform the task, even with his self touted 30 years of experience. To me, if he could repair them correctly, they would not have been shipped broken. Both watches are from the 1800’s when he received them he said they were in “excellent condition” he also stated this fact in a delivery note sent with them. So, there was no excuse for not fixing them correctly. One needed no parts, one needed a main spring and gear, oddly that is the one that does not wind correctly, and stalls.

The repairs were extensive from so many years of use and neglect. Hampton parts are no longer made, harvesting parts from a series of donor watches, Mr. Nelson was able to fully restore the watch to perfect working condition.  I highly recommend him.

The only draw back I see is getting the watch in for repair. He was out of town alot, So between his and my schecule it took a bit of extra waiting time. However, he is worth the wait! My watch has been working perfectly again.

Excellent, fast service. Walked right up to his window (inside Sorrel's Vintage Store), handed him my watch, shopped at Powell's for 45 minutes, and came back to pick it up. Quick and easy.

Better than I expected. I was prepared to leave the watch and have a replacement part ordered, but it was fitted with a new dial while I waited! I drove across town for the service and will return.

The owner was very kind and looked at each watch and told me which ones were not repairable and which ones he could install batteries in. He removed the links in my watch so that it would fit my wrist. He specializes in antique watches and I brought in newer models which he was willing to work on. He did indicate that it is a good idea to call before coming to ensure that he is in the shop. He travels to antique watch shows all over the country so if you have antique models I would really recommend him. I could have gotten my watches fixed at another location but I chose his business because of Angie's List recommendations. I think he prefers to work on antique watches but he was very gracious and performed the work I requested right there while I waited. It was $9/watch battery installation.

Others told me I'd have to have a new crystal face and the cost would be around $200. Addendum Circle Antique watches replaced the seals only for $60, which saved me much $$$$. Service was great and quick.

Carlton was fast and efficient. He fashioned a part he needed for the clock on his own. It matches perfectly. The work was done earlier than promised.

Job 1: Work was done in a week. The watch looks great and it running again. I plan to have another old watch repaired in this shop. Job 2: Carlton took his valuable time to help me out and would not accept any form of payment. He has repaired an older watch for me in the past and did an excellent job for a reasonable charge

I took it to Carlton and he was able to fix it. He said the parts for my particular watch were difficult to get, but he had some in stock and used them to fix my watch. He also cleaned the watch and fixed a longstanding problem with the watch running a little bit fast. Now the watch looks great and runs great too. He is a little pricey but he does all the work himself by hand and I think he's completely worth it.

THEY ARE LOCATED AT THE BACK OF SOREL'S STORE, ON SE HAWTHORNE. VERY QUICK TO JUST STOP BY, LEAVE A WATCH OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES, AND GET MINOR WORK DONE. I GO TO THEM REGULARLY NOW.
