Anthony was very professional and very helpful. I was putting in a music space in my basement and I wanted it as sound proof as possible. He suggested some alternatives and helpful solutions to trying to make the room more soundproof. We ended up using a sheet rock that is designed for soundproofing which was more expensive but is important to my project.
He was not the cheapest bid but he was much more professional than the others.
The finished product looks great and is decently soundproof.

Very prompt, professional and finished demo, drywall, patching, mudding and texturizing for five areas of the house in one day.

The project went exactly as bid in timing, price and high quality level.

We had popcorn in 3 rooms of our new house and wanted it gone. After getting some options and quotes we went with Alternative Drywall.

Removal went fine at first, but it turned out we had lathe and plaster ceiling, which should not have been unexpected. What was a little surprising was that the plaster was crumbling and it was impossible to resurface the ceiling - instead, new drywall had to be installed which would then hold up the ceiling. Unfortunately the thickness of the drywall prevents the mouldings from melding seamlessly into the ceiling. Since we were pressed for time as our move-in date was just around the corner we ended up with a suboptimal solution.

The good:
* Anthony's response time and insistence on seeing the work to be done before providing an estimate. I'd much rather have an accurate estimate than a best guess at the cost of some inconvenience.
* Both time and money estimate were right on target. Work went very fast.
* Once we settled on a new course, AD was quick to adapt to the new requirements.

The bad:
* Maybe it was the time constraint, but I feel like I did not get all the options described - the end result did not match expectations. In retrospect, it seems that the best option to preserve the look would have been to remove the lathe and plaster altogether (obviously at higher cost), but this option was not presented.
* Lights and fixtures were not re-attached, and no instructions was provided on how they were removed to begin with.
* Drywall and mud were spattered on multiple walls, some of it non-removable.

Anthony came back to attach one of the fixtures and to wipe some of the walls, but wasn't able to fully resolve everything. While that is appreciated, it shouldn't have been an issue to begin with. Even if light re-attachment isn't in scope, that should've been communicated beforehand.

Anthony and his assistant did a very clean job, were very unobtrusive, and were extremely professional throughout. They had to deal with some complicated geometry and a lot of corners (raised skylight etc.), and did it all with no problem, and it looks great. For the high quality of work we received and for the painlessness of it all, we feel he could reasonably have charged us considerably more. A great bargain, and excellent people to work with. Would recommend them highly.

We had an excellent experience with Alternative Drywall. Anthony and Tom were very punctual and professional, as well as fun to have in our home for almost three days. Anthony bid the job and he stuck to the bid even though a few items changed from the original scope of work. I felt the overall quality of the job was very good and that I received a lot for the money I paid. I would not hesitate to recommend Alternative Drywall to anyone looking for a good drywall company.

I'd like to say I was as happy as the rest of the reviews but have both Good and Not so Good comments to make. Good: Anthony and his crew were punctual and professional and I trusted them in my home. In looking at the finished project it looked wonderful......until I recently moved in to the house and started painting. Not So Good: Anthony told me at the end of the job that the painters would need to caulk all the seams before painting. Since I was doing all the painting that would be me. What I did not expect to find was the sloppy finishing above all the trim in the house. I spent at least 2 days chiseling and scraping globs of dried Drywall mud away from the trim and wall. I then had to sand and prime these areas prior to painting. One area you can really see this issue is at the bottom of the staircase. There are doorways and a window off of the landing. I had to remove the trim cap, scrape the mud, sand and then replace the trim so that I could paint and have it look as good as the rest of the walls/ceilings. Granted you can't see most of this poor finishing until you get up on a ladder to paint but I still did not expect it.

Anthony the owner did 2 drywall projects for us. He is professional, calls and does what he says. In this industry that isn't such a given and was a nice surprise. Does very good work, price is right, not cheap, not expensive and communicates properly with you. Would recommend him to anyone. Mark....

I'm very happy with Alternative Drywall's work. Anthony (the owner) came out on a Saturday to give us an estimate. Although he was busy with other jobs, he was able to meet our scheduling needs. The work was completed over two days. Anthony and four guys hung the drywall one morning and Anthony returned later that afternoon to apply tape and mud. He returned two days later (when mud was dry) to complete the job. I was happily surprised when he applied a coat of primer. I've used other drywall companies in the past, and this is something that I wasn't expecting. The drywall looks in the corners and I see no evidence of tape. Anthony took great care in minimizing dust in other parts of my home and he did a super job of cleaning up. I also appreciated that he was careful not to waste materials. Before choosing Alternative Drywall, I received estimates from two other companies. One company wanted $800 (I think this was a minimum price b/c this was a small job) and another company gave me a price of $600 over the phone. I know cheaper isn't always better, but based on the other reviews of Alternative Drywall, I decided to hire them. I'm glad I was able to save money and get a quality drywall job.

The house was built in the late 40's and had been an abused rental. All of the walls and ceilings were rough and seemingly unrepairable. They did an excellent job repairing the damage and made the walls flat. They were prompt, efficient and worked with our time schedule. Impressive!

Project went great. Anthony was prompt, professional, and the quality was excellent. Had drywall delivered on Monday, and he was done by Friday. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of drywall services.

I feel really lucky that I called Anthony to take a look at our bathroom and tell us how he could fix it. In an attempt to remodel the bathroom, we pulled out the vanity, cabinets, and molding and were left with a mess that we could not patch ourselves. I thought that the only way to fix it was to get someone to re-drywall the whole thing. But then Anthony took a look and told us about some newer techniques and materials that he could use that would save time and money. Everything that he promised us came true: he sent his estimate on time, he showed up when he said he would, he finished when he said he would, the cost was the same as the estimate, and the bathroom is beautiful! All I had to do was paint and I know how to do that.

Anthony returned our call right away, and came out and gave us a bid the day after we spoke. After we choose to hire him, he began the next week. He was always prompt, professional, and courteous. When my husband asked to do something special or tweak something, Anthony did it, no questions asked. He cleaned up after himself everyday, and most importantly the job looks great. We hung the drywall, but he did all the mud and tape and finish. He did a smooth finish on all walls and the ceilings and it's perfect.

They were pretty much on time and easy to work with. They were pretty reliable and answered all of my questions. They explained what they were going to do before they did it.

We arranged for a quote over email and they came out to give the quote. After the initial estimate, it took a week or two to schedule the time to do the job. Once started, the work was completed quickly and beautifully.

They kept the project really clean. They put some paper down to keep the floor clean, and tried to keep the dust to a minimum. The work they did was great! They were very professional.

It was great, and they did all the work while we were on vacation. They worked very well within our schedule.

It went really well. They were fast, and they were cheap. There was a little bit of time between when they quoted and when they could do the job because they were busy. It was a difficult job but they did a good job. They were contentious and friendly. The price was low but they did a good job.

Anthony accommodated a very tight schedule, was on time each day, kept the area very clean and did great work. I specifically needed him to address keeping as much dust as possible contained as I am asthmatic and pregnant(!) and he did a great job at doing this. He was on-time if not early every day and finished ahead of schedule.

Anthony was prompt in returning my initial phone call, and was able to come out quickly to give me an estimate. His bid was slightly lower than a competitor's, and he was able to schedule the job as soon as we were ready to have it done. Due to the nice hot, dry weather, the job was completed well ahead of time. Anthony was great about sealing off doorways, cabinets, etc. to minimize dust, and they were able to seal off and work around a piano that we left in the middle of the living room. Anthony was very professional and personable, and kept open communications lines (including through email) leading up to and throughout the short project. He and his crew did a terrific job, the ceilings look great, and we would certainly use him again!

Anthony and his crew did a wonderful job. We hired him because we wanted a quality smooth wall finish, and we got exactly that. In addition, we made several changes to the house, requiring extra trips to the Coast. Anthony was very responsive, and made the changes willingly. Our general contractor said that the drywall job was one of the best he had ever seen. One of our neighbors said that he was the "hardest working sub on the job".

Couldn't have asked for more. Anthony was friendly, arrived as promised, did an amazing job, and cleaned up thoroughly after completing the job. I expected a lot of dust to be kicked up given the extent of the work, but Anthony thoroughly taped off everything, floors and entryway and cleaned up afterwords (cleaner than when he arrived). He knows his craft very well, we had a tough texture to match in our dining room, but he did. The smoothed-out ceiling in the master bath looks fantastic. Highly recommended.
