DO NOT GIVE ALPINE GLASS YOUR BUSINESS. I could run you through the 6 week saga but here's the condensed version: the owner verbally abuses customers, they cannot keep a schedule, they are incapable of communication, they overcharge for their services and they are unwilling to take any sort of responsibility for their own employees. By the way, they have had employees test positive for COVID-19 so the installer you come in contact with might be carrying COVID while not wearing a mask.

NEVER USE ALPINE! This company has the absolute worst customer service I have ever know. From the beginning, it took them 5 months from bid to installation. They had to come out 4 times for remeasuring, and even after we told them they would need a crane to lift the windows, panels and sliding door, they measured the stairways and told us they could get the products to our condo several floors above the ground. Surprise! they could not, so we ended up agreeing to pay half (over $1,000) the cost of the lift in order to finally get the door and window panels installed. To be fair, there were no problems with simple glass replacements (bedrooms and dining room windows), beyond the fact they were unable to put four windows in on the same day. Anything more than that apparently is beyond them. Because of their delays, we were out of the country when they installed the window panels and sliding glass door. When we returned, we were shocked to find a completely different design of window panels and door installed. They installed a design with very thick frames around the glass, including a large kick panel (!), reducing our view of the river significantly. It did not come close to matching the rest of the condominium's 49 other units, a design element we had been very clear about the need to match. Responsiveness was as poor as the result of their work. We initially sent a letter, outlining the problem and requesting a response, which never came. I followed that with a phone call several weeks later and was told Brett was meeting with a client and would call back within the hour. No return call. I called again a few days later, and Brett told me they were in the process of writing a letter of response. Of course that never happened either. At this point, we have sent a last letter and have given them the required 30-day notice that we are filing a complaint with the the Construction Contractor's Board. Naturally, there has been no response.

Employee picked up the wrong glass the first time, but went right back and got the correct panes and inserted them. Just minor delay.

Alpine Glass came to service our windows twice. Our location was less then a mile away from them.
First time: Our new construction window wouldn't close and had a 1 inch gap. The service technician came to fix it and the problem was simple. So simple that it was fixed in 4 seconds and he didn't charge us. Instead to ask us to call he company. We were so touched and appreciated the help.
Second time: Two other windows had tension sashes broken. We called them and the people were so kind, offered to teach me over the phone to fix it myself. However, I'm not terribly handy and instead scheduled an appointment. They came to fix it. We saw the same technician again and thanked him for his help again for the 1st time. He remembered us!
I wouldn't hesitate to call them for my window problems and give them referrals. Every time I contacted them, they were helpful, responsive, professional and kind. Greatly touched by their customer service.

For the most part, it went very well and I would be giving them straight As except for one thing. The person who came out to see the window and give us a bid said it would look just as new when they were finished -- but the interior strip between the panes isn't the same as on the original window, which matters because it's one of a pair of windows separated by only 6and quot; or so on the wall. Now the repaired window has a shiny material separating the panes while the rest of our windows do not. Small matter, perhaps, but it stands out when the curtains are open.

I do have to say: Both the fellow who gave us the bid and the fellow who brought the new glass out and installed it were extremely nice, polite, and they did their work quickly and professionally (except for the description of the proposed repair). We were very pleased with the price and we were charged exactly what we were quoted. They were always punctual. We do not suspect the change in material in the window is inferior to what we had; it's just different. It took longer than we expected between the bid and the installation of the new glass, but it was during the holidays and we figured that was probably to be expected.

I would hire them again but I'll be more careful that we're both clear on every aspect of the job to be done.

I don't write reviews. It would have to be either a stellar experience or an unusually bad one to inspire me to write a review. Unfortunately, in this instance, it is the latter.
Alpine glass did the original install of our shower glass and door during a fairly extensive remodel. After a few years, the gasket in the lower hinge began to fail, and ultimately slipped out of place dramatically. I called Alpine Glass to have the repair done, fully expecting that I would have to pay for it. When their repair person arrived, he was courteous and efficient. He did inform me however, that the repair should not have been necessary, and that if the install had been done properly, this problem would not have happened. He told me he would report back to the company that his opinion was that the hinge had not been tightened to specs, and as a result the gasket had slipped. He said I should not have to pay for it. He also did mention that they wouldn't be too eager to hear what he had to say, as they are under a lot of pressure to bill out for service calls.
When I received the call from Alpine Glass telling me the amount due, I discussed with them what their repairman had told me, and that I was not expecting to pay for something due to an improper installation, as noted by their repairman. I was told that it was out of warranty. I asked him if the opinion of their repair person was being taken into consideration, and I was simply told that they have to pay their servicemen for a service call.
It's short-sighted and opportunistic of them, to ignore the advice of their technicians. They would rather bill today, than honor the work they've done in the past. I even went so far as to point out the message he was sending about their values and business practices by charging for work to repair a job that was necessary only due to their own improper install.
For the record, I am happy to pay for work done and I am happy to take financial responsibility for home ownership and maintenance and upkeep. This is an instance though, of a company not standing behind their work, and as such I feel it is my responsibility too, to issue a warning to others who may be considering Alpine Glass. They do not value their customers. They do not grasp the importance of their reputation. They are in it for the immediate paycheck, not the long term relationships.
Buyer beware.
Response from Alpine Glass Service Inc
"Customer service and satisfaction is of the utmost importance to Alpine Glass Service and we do apologize for this misunderstanding and miscommunication. I can assure you a thorough review was conducted as a result of your review and our findings included inaccuracies in your comments; the Glazier who performed the service disagreed with your statement of him informing you that the repair would not have been necessary had the original installation been done correctly. With regular use of a shower door, normal wear and tear is expected. As verified within the service call paperwork, this was the underlying reason the required service."

My oversized sliding glass door was getting harder and harder to move and I was afraid I was going to become trapped out on the deck because I lacked the strength to drag it open.
I called a couple of glass companies and was given Alpine's name.
They sent out a repair person within a few days who determined that the rollers were worn out. Unfortunately, the size of the door meant it took extra-large rollers, which had to be ordered.
Mike, the repair person who came, took pictures of the old ones to be sure the correct ones were ordered.
It took a week for him to return....apparently the company is very busy. And it would have been better if they sent two men because of the door's size, but apparently they didn't have two people available. Mike did a great job of handling a very heavy door but it wasn't easy.
The door now works fine. I would recommend this company, however they are so busy that I do think it impacts some of their work. So if you have something really heavy to be carried, I'd insist on an extra person.

ondThe first was, in February, was a broken woodstove door; and I was
referred to Alpine by the people from whom I bought the woodstove. I
took the door in on a Monday morning at 9:00 and he asked me if we
heated our home by the woodstove (and we did). He called at 1:00 pm and
I picked it up. This speed was extraordinary and the job perfect
The second was done in three days and was perfect--the table had been commissioned by an artist sometime ago, so the glass was custom. The job was excellent, the service excellent and my two experiences prompted me to go to Alpine for the third.
The third was to have a custom-sized mirror made for our bathroom--we had put this off for a year because we really didn't know who to go to for this. This mirror was done in three working days and is beautiful.
Alpine is one of the finest experiences I've had with any retailer.

Very bad experience. We ordered shower doors, they messed up the measurement and the order, we ended up with the wrong shower doors... It was already too late when I realized, they had already make holes in the brand new tiles and doors were half way installed. They acknowledged the problems after a very long discussion: they should have been quick at acknowledging their mistake which was obvious! Instead they tried to put responsibility on us. They explained we did not get back to them after they left a message telling us they had to change the doors (we never got it), so they decided to go ahead with different doors. Incredible, how can you tell your customers that you decided their purchase on their behalf without their approval! They did not try hard to get us on the phone! Funny enough we were waiting for their call... we needed our shower doors to take a shower!!! In all fairness they offered a rebate of $200, however it does not make up for the fact that we don't have the doors we ordered. To add to that, they were under staffed the day of the install, and the job was done poorly. Bad experience, will not re-use their service.
Response from Alpine Glass Service Inc
"This comment consists of defaming statements and should be removed. Alpine Glass Service emphasizes integrity in all aspects of operations. Customer service and satisfaction is our highest priority. What this review implies is that we NEVER contacted the customer, which is not true. Our records reflect every contact attempt, for which we left "detailed and specific" messages stating the intended service, including specifications of shower doors, and asking for a returned call by a specific date if this plan was not acceptable. The shower doors were then installed as scheduled."

The gentleman they sent was significantly late, but he did call and apologize to warn me about the delay. Nonetheless, he was less than an hour late and went straight to work. He was professional, extremely tidy, and the window work is excellent. Glass furniture tops were perfectly measured.
Phone call to completion of work was less than one week. This is the second time I've used this company, but my first review of them.

It went very well. The guy arrived and got to work quickly. He measured the window that needed the glass repaired, cut it to size on site and installed it. All took about 20-30 minutes. The gentleman was very nice and did a great job. I will definitely call them again if I ever run into an issue with old double painted windows. They seem to be the only ones still fixing and repairing old wood windows. I called about 8 different places and all I got were referrals. All the referrals had referrals so the search was almost impossible. I was glad to find these folks and was impressed with how quick their lead time was. Great job!

We needed to replace a small fixed window (16x 26) with one that would open. After receiving several quotes from window companies in the range of $1800 to $3700 we called Alpine Glass. They came out, measured and gave us a quote. Their quote came in under $500. They ordered and installed the window into the existing frame and matched the caulking color. There was no damage to the frame and only small touch up of external paint was required. Very professional and we are very happy with the new window. Thank you! Thank you!

We found Alpine to be reasonable, prompt and courteous. All work was done timely and with real craftsmanship. The windows protecting the stained glass inserts were particularly tricky but the workman sent by Alpine did an excellent job under difficult weather conditions. We would hire them again without hesitation.

Unprofessional, disorganized and low quality. First person who came to measure messed up, so they sent a second guy a few days later. A few days before install date, I called to check status and found that Brett (the owner) couldn't recall my order. He said he would check and call back, but didn't. I finally hounded him into finding my order and giving me a new install date. But then he called to say he lost all of the paperwork for my tabletop (I ordered a shower door--he was that confused). Ultimately, someone showed up unannounced one month late to install the door. (But he was clearly out of his realm, took 4 hours instead of one, and didn't clean up after himself.) The door hinge doesn't work and nobody has come to fix it. The company has no voice mail, so there is no way to contact anyone if you aren't lucky enough to catch them live. Craziest of all: I am a professional interior designer who can refer tons of business to these guys. But they just don't care.
