Work looks great, done in good time, workers were punctual, delivered as promised, and avoided distractions

for the cost I would have expected much more professional work to be done.  The insulation installed is ok, but half the other work (like door seals) are already coming off, molding is just haphazardly put in and doesn't even line up.  The plasterboard patches on the ceiling looks like a patch job my husband would do and last but not least, I have not noticed any energy savings, the living room is still cold in the winter.  I definitely would not hire this company.  It was a big waste of money.

The results of their work were excellent.  Prior to their work, we could not keep the temperature in our house above 55 degrees during winter arctic blasts (outdoor temperatures in the teens and 20s).  After they sealed and insulated our house (where needed), we were able to maintain indoor temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s during the coldest of weather.  The owner of the company was very professional, diagnosed our problem and designed a solution.  He was great!  The workers who actually showed up to do the work were nice, but not professional.  They did not put booties on or lay plastic over the carpet while working in the house.  They tracked dirt and mud into the house for 2 straight days and did not clean up after themselves.  We spent $175 having our carpets cleaned after the work was performed.  Additionally, we had a misunderstaning with the owner about an option we thought was included in the bid.  He did not agree but said he wanted us to be 100% satisfied, and that he would get back to me with a compromise and a solution.  He did not follow through.  Again, the diagnosis was accurate and the result was what we hoped for.

Very professional, always on time. They gave a high bid for total weatherization of the house and we opted to do only part of the work, which they were fine with. The work was good quality and effective at increasing comfort and decreasing heating and cooling costs in our upstairs.
They then did the porch work, which was generally fine, but some of the details were a bit sloppy, and we asked for some fixes, which they did resulting in some improvement. It was OK, but we weren't as happy with the porch work as we were with the insulation/ventilation.
They were nice to work with and very reliable in showing up when they said they would.

Abucas started on the set date and completed the job one day early. They were prompt, proffesional and cleaned up well each day. Very pleasant workers. My home is holding it's heat much better and I don't hear outside noise as much. I have recommened them to a friend already.

I have really noticed a difference in the house, especially in the elimination of cold air drafts in the kitchen area and the front entryway.  We had tried to eliminate the drafts under our doors ourselves, but without much success.  Abacus' professional work appears to be there to stay. They worked at getting it just right so that the insulation cut off the drafts entirely but didn't make it almost impossible to open the doors.  The replacement of the bathroom fans was particularly welcome to me, as the noise from the fans could be heard all over the house.
I found it impressive that women made up all but one person in the Abacus work crew.  The one who was not female was the supervisor, Billy, who was a marvel -- he was always cheerful, on time (except once when he called to explain why), and good about seeing that the young women did their jobs without being officious.  I could ask him any questions I had or talk to him about anything I didn't think was done to my satisfaction.  He answered me straightforwardly in a manner I could understand, and he made sure anything that wasn't right was fixed.  In addition, one of the co-owners made regular visits to check on the work.  I particularly appreciated that -- I didn't feel I had to crawl into the attic or the crawlspace to check for myself.  I knew he was very interested in their doing a good job and that he knew better than I what to look for.
Not unusual for Portland, the work was done during the rain (some transporting of materials to the lower floor of the house had to be done outside in the rain) and at least one day, it was cold enough that the deck to the house entrance had frozen rain on it.  The job was not held up.  It was finished in a reasonable amount of time.  I would definitely hire Abacus again.

went well, but initially I was not told that the garage insulation (using foam on the ceiling) would be handled by a sub-contractor, and was not given details on that other company. I had to research that myself. They were prompt and professional in the actual work performed, and were especially throrough with testing and sealiong of air leaks. I can feel the difference

They did an exceptional job in both testing and upgrading those items we choose to have completed.

4 guys were out for the job. They worked throughout the day. They had to seal the air ducts and they put weather stripping around the doors too. They did what they were supposed to do and I hope to see this reflect on my bill this coming winter. They didn't leave any messes, and I'm satisfied that they did the sealing promised.
