Great, he worked fast and with minimal distruption. He even tore up some crazy bushes i wanted to get rid of and carted them away. He was done within two days. Very competitive price.

Steve had his work cut out on this job and handled it with exceptional professionalism and punctuality. Everything was timely, starting with the bid all the way through the entire job. Several unforeseen issues came up, including a failed inspection on the utilities that delayed the backfill by a day, and lack of access/foundation issues that required Steve to have to hand dig a portion of the job. Despite all the obstacles, Steve completed the work ahead of schedule and did it a price that was less than half of the next closest bid. Our company will be using A to Z Excavation for all our excavation needs from now on.

Steve was great and I highly recommend him. He was always prompt returning phone calls and always showed up exactly when he said he would. Regarding the estimate and time required for the job, he was spot on. This was basically a landscaping project and we had very specific ideas of what we wanted. Steve was extremely conscientious about making sure he was doing just what we wanted (right down to moving rocks a few inches this way or that). (I might add that the estimate Steve gave was orders of magnitude lower than an estimate I got from a landscaping firm). He's professional, personable, conscientious, and competent!

Steve came and looked at the project during the rainy season. He helped us to decide the best options for doing the job. He suggested waiting until the soil dried out so it would not weigh so much. When warm weather arrived, he came and scooped out the old dirt and bark chips and smoothed out the area. He also added several feet of French drain. He had suggested a road cloth for a weed barrier and to keep the gravel separate from the underlying dirt--he laid the cloth. The next day, he came and spread rock over the area. It looks very nice and Steve was easy to work with and diligent. He was open to suggestions and helped us to decide what we should do at a good price.

We called Steve because our previous excavator strung us along saying he would be out and never showed. We needed to start promptly and Steve was out to give us a bid two days after we called. He was professional, showed up when he said he would, and preformed the job beautifully. I was amazed at his precision with the back hoe. His bid indicated that the job would take 2.5 days and he stuck to his word. He even pulled tree stumps out for us, just as a courtesy. I would trust this man with all of my excavation needs.

Steve was very professional and used his back hoe like a pro. He made sure before he dug about any hidden sprinkler heads or obstables that I might know about. I would recommend Steve for any job size large or small.

Steve, the owner, was the easiest to reach of the 3 exhibitors that I called and was the most prompt at going out to the site to take a look and make a bid. He was able to fit in the excavation within 5 days of our conversation, and had the most reasonable bid - the next closest was about $300 more. He arrived at the site on time, and the whole project took about 5 hours, but I enjoyed talking to him and might have slowed him down a little bit. He was careful around the edges of the concrete sidewalks and hand excavated one edge. It was illuminating to learn how expensive dump fees can be (in this case, the closest dump cost $90 for the load), as well as the costs for filling the 100 gallon diesel tank ($280) and annual insurance on the dump truck, etc. In the future, I'd ask exhibitors if they have a big dump truck (Steve does) because it was surprising how quickly he filled it, and our driveway wasn't that big.

STEVE WAS AWESOME! HE CAME WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD, AND FINISHED THE JOB AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. HE WAS FRIENDLY, COMPETENT, AND DID A FANTASTIC JOB. AND HE OFFERED THE MOST REASONABLE BID FOR THIS JOB.
