He wanted the freedom to offer a higher level of customer service along with reasonable prices, so he started his own business in 2001. Since then, the business has grown, and Jim has maintained his high standard of conduct for all his employees, and interacts personally with each customer. Jim Schatter responded promptly for the estimate, gave time frame to start and complete the work and was very professional. Once we agreed on the work to be completed they came out on the date and time specified and when I made a couple changes to the job Ollie came back the next day and completed the job explained in detail the work done and took pictures to document. Very satisfied with the repairs which included 2 year warranty and the fair price. Thank you Jim and Ollie.

This job turned out to be much more than what could be seen with the eye. Ten plywood sheets had to be replaced, there was dry rot in another area and a gutter needed to be replaced. Around the chimney, the roof was uneven and needed to be built up, so the water would not collect there. All that was done was done excellently and at the most reasonable cost. I am truly thankful to have such a beautiful new roof and a dry house...what a relief...completion!
The roofing team was delightful to have on my property, harmonious and cheerful, even in very cold weather. They were professional, yet personable, taking care of detail. Not a bit of debris was left behind and even a loose piece of siding on the corner of my house was nailed back into place! Thank you, smile! It was always getting knocked off, whenever something needed to be pulled by...

Jim showed up on time, inspected the roofs and quoted the job at that time. He discuss the scope of the work and offered some lower cost value options so that I did not have to spend money unnecessarily. He started the job on the day he promised and finished the job in the number of days stated. Should be noted the days the work was done were the hottest of the summer. When they found loose plywood sheeting they renailed the sheets. The price charged for the repair of damaged sheeting found once the old roof was removed was very fair.

In 2008 I contacted a number of roofers to come out and give me estimates. Jim is the only person who actually busted out the ladder and got on top of my house to check out the condition of my roof. He is also the only person who told me that I still had at least 3 years left in the roof I already had. He nevertheless drew up a roof plan with measurements, told me what my options were and made a list that explained all the expenses I would incur if I did the job then.
One thing that also struck me as interesting is that I'd had some shingles blow off in a storm, and was hoping I could get the cost of a new roof out of my insurance company. He told me he couldn't do it because it was dishonest...whereas 2 of the other roofing guys told me they WOULD do it. This might sound like a reason to go with one of the other roofers, but in fact it sealed the deal in Jim's favor. Jim is honest, and no doubts about it. As a single woman, I was worried about roofing shenanigans I'd heard of from friends, of roofers who try to extract extra money from customers mid-job.
In 2011, I finally hired Jim to do the whole roof. His crew arrived bright and early. I'd get home from work late and they were still up there working on my roof. I was, frankly, surprised by how late the workers stayed, but both of my roofs (house and garage) were finished within about 3 days, and they added decorative touches that were really pretty (and for which I was not charged.) The guys were also friendly, and the job was clean. There was no litter at all.
It's been a year now since the roof got built and I still love the way it looks...it's a perfect roof in every way. I would hire Jim again in a heart beat. He and his crew are awesome!

We were very satisfied with Jim and his crew from start to finish, the roof looked great, the crew was respectable and completely picked up every piece of debris that was left in our yard, we were very happy with the results........until the rains came.... after the first heavy rain the water started to seep down between our inside walls and the chimney, we now have water and permanant bubbles on our inside walls, which of course has to be fixed. Our contract specified we had a 10yr personal workmanship guarantee, we called Jim twice with no response. Another roofer inspected the chimney and he could see immediately that the chimney flashing had not been installed properly. I am writing this 2 years later because we now have to pay someone else to repair not only the flashing, but also the inside walls...it should have been done right in the first place.

Jim was recommended by a contractor that did some other work on our home. It was a little difficult getting in touch with him, but once we got a quote and agreed to have the work done, his employees did a great job. They showed up promptly in the morning, worked into the early evening, and completed the job within a week.
They also replaced a few broken roof tiles and portions of the fascia board that had rotted.
After completion, we noticed a couple places where water was leaking from the gutters during the first rain. I called Jim, and he had a guy come out to clean out one of the downspouts and seal up the leaks. The water has been flowing off the roof, into the gutters, and down the downspouts since.
They also replaced a few broken roof tiles and portions of the fascia board that had rotted.
After completion, we noticed a couple places where water was leaking from the gutters during the first rain. I called Jim, and he had a guy come out to clean out one of the downspouts and seal up the leaks. The water has been flowing off the roof, into the gutters, and down the downspouts since.

I really like that when Jim came to do the estimate he actually got up on the roof and measured and gave me a detailed bid. I was so impressed, because the other companies had just looked from the ground to give me a price. He was clean and well groomed, he was very professional. The estimate was a little out of my price range so I was not able to move forward with the project. I referred him to a few friends and then eventually had him come back to rebid on doing the roof. I still couldn't afford it at that time. I needed to save up so that I could pay for it out of pocket upon completion. Finally, he came back and gave me another bid and I was able to afford it at that time so I went ahead with the work. He did a fantastic job. He was always on time, he was patient and he is a good man. He did whatever he could to make it work for me. He gives you a 10 year guarantee on his workmanship. If I ever have any issues I just call him and he is right there to make it right. I would say if you are afraid of being ripped off by a roofer, this is one guy that doesn't do that. The men who work for him are not subcontractors and have worked for him for a long time and they are very skilled. The quality of work I got was far beyond what I paid for. I would definitely use them in the future and I would recommend them to anyone. Jim is worth waiting for if he can't fit you in right away.

I got such an impressive, kindly, efficient, amazing glowing remarks in every conceivable way for them. He gave me a reasonable estimate and got the work done in the exact amount of time that they said it was going to take. He kept very clean and organized every day and he even came back twice to check on minor things. I could not say enough good things about him. I thank God he was there because I was very gun shy at that point because of a previous experience I had with a contractor that I had used prior to him. The worked looked really good! He was exceptional in every way!!! He is so gracious and there were no problems. He did a fantastic overall job. I was so grateful for his explanation of what he was doing and his cleanliness. He was so gracious to return to check on minor things for me. I want the public to know how great of a man this is and that I could not have been more happy.
