In November 2010, Mike hired Mr. Minor to appraise his home in Alpine, Oregon for his divorce settlement, he was out of the state at the time. The house was occupied by his ex-wife. Mr. Miner went to the property once. He compared the manufactured home on a 70' X 136' lot (2/10th acre) in a rural area with stick frame and manufactured homes in a nearby better class area with acreage up to 4.5 acres and finished large decks and workshops. On Mike's property he considered a dilapidated garage a WORKSHOP and a 4' X 8' front porch landing a DECK. He used some trick number work to deflate the value of the other properties. Mr. Miners appraisal was $170,000.00. This value was used for Mike's settlement. When Mike put the home on the market only 6 months later, our highly qualified and respected real estate agent was shocked. So much that she went back two years and could not find any justification for the appraised value. The closest comparable property she found in the next county was $122,000.00. Mike managed to sell his home for $115,000.00. We don't know if Mr. Minor is just plain incompetent or if he was in collusion with Mike's ex-wife or her attorney. We would NOT recommend him to appraise a dog house. If you would like more information or a copy of Mr. Miners appraisal of Mike's property please contact us at
