When Mr. Kirk Alden shows, the work gets done. What I could not get him to do was a) return calls; b) show up (on time or even at all); c) call with some reasonable reason for no-show, no-call. Scheduled a three stage bathroom installation. He got Stage 1 done. It took some time to get scheduled but when he showed up with his team, the work got done. Biggest problem was the concrete dust I wasn't warned about and it went up through the vents, floors, etc and took over a week to clean up. Never have got all the dust out of the basement. I asked for some time to get the construction (room framing) completed and agreed to contact him when I was ready (both agreed it would take some time). He never kept an appointment to do Stage 2. I called and called asking for an appointment. He called back eventually and set an appointment for two weeks. No show/no call. Asked referring contractor to intercede for me and Mr. Alden called and apologized. We set another appointment for two weeks out. No show day 1 (worker sick); no show/no call day two. Finally hired another plumber to finish his work. Bigger problem is that he was referred by a respected contractor so it put his reputation on the line as well (although I was warned ahead of time that Mr. Alden was not terribly reliable about showing up). Most of you would be wondering why I didn't just hire a new plumber the first time - duh. Problem was the pricing structure had the front end (stage one) loaded with subsequent lower installments so I was hoping to get my investment honored. He seems like a nice enough person. Don't know if the lack of professionalism was personal choice or business endemic. Too bad.
