Great work and very accommodating

After getting quotes, hiring a company & later firing that company to build us a deck under our deck, we were really defeated thinking our very sloped useless backyard would really ever have usable space. I found a recommendation for Mike at MG Exteriors on Happy Valley Chit Chat and gave them a call. He came out quickly for my quote (not a salesperson but the owner) and quoted us on the spot. He also looked at my existing deck & recommended we protect that one pre-construction of the new one (it was only 2 yrs old but already looked sad. We received a fair quote (less than the 'fired' company) and they were able to start us quicker due to a cancellation. Construction was in time, they were punctual, clean and ALWAYS available for questions. Highly recommend!!

These guys know their stuff are yard looks amazing with the great Fence. They put up very fast and efficient and stay until the job is done great price and value as well. Top-notch would definitely use in the future and recommend any friends, family or neighbors.

I hired MG Exterior Contracting/Oregon Deck and Fence to demo a big mess of a deck and completion of the building of a fence that was too big a project for us to manage on our own. It was a project about 20 years overdue. I appreciated that the line of communication was always open and pleasant and I felt always updated and informed. Mike and Ryan are experts in knowledge and perfectionists in their work. The end product is a true work of art. The care taken and attention to detail were evident throughout the building process, including staying late to finish up when needed. Extra care was given to final details and touch up. I was impressed with how the crew kept the worksite clean throughout and the respectful and courteous demeanor of all. The project of tearing down an unusable deck, building a new design and constructing of my fence with two gates was accomplished in a 2-1/2 week period despite an unexpected snow storm and icy roads that could have caused a delay. MG/Oregon Deck & Fence are incredible -- true craftsmen and professionals through and through! I finally found a contractor that has the attention to detail that I expect and has great communication and is punctual! Hired MG/Oregon Deck & Fence for Trex retread, Trex Rainscape install, and under deck ceiling install for dry 4-season patio usage. My great experience started with the first call - owner Mike Gray responded within minutes of my first message, he came out next business day to evaluate the site in-person and to develop his estimate. Mike's attentiveness and communication level remained at this level throughout the entire project. I got texts/calls/in-person updates daily informing me of the day's progress, decision points and what time the crew would be arriving next day, each day. Mike's crew breaks all the cliches of too many contractors in the industry -- the cliches of showing up late, working partial days, disappearing mid-day, not knowing if/when they're coming.... with MG, I knew I could count on the crew to be punctual, respectful of my property and put in a full day each day on the project. His crew is allocated to a project start to finish full-time -- this was huge to me. It kept the project moving fast and it kept communication tight and efficient. And even more important, their craftsmanship and attention to detail is second to none. Being somewhat capable myself, I have a high degree of precision I expect and Mike's crew to it to the highest level -- they are fixated precision both structurally and cosmetically. Everyting from joists to deck boards to the trim they laid down was installed with exacting standards: level, plumb, exact even spacing, etc. And whenever they reached a point where design choices came up, they were consultative with me giving me the options and pros/cons of them. I have truly been impressed by Mike and team. I highly recommend MG/Oregon Deck & Fence! In fact, I'm already in discussion with them about several other projects: an additional custom deck, concrete driveway replacement and retaining wall

My parents were very cautious about house safety here when we shifted to Sandy. My dad was concerned about building a fence our very kind neighbor recommended these fence builders thanks to them. Highly recommended.

Great experience working with MGC Exteriors. Michael and his team are efficient, thorough and talented. Michael responded to our message within an hour, and we had an estimate the same afternoon! His construction team of Dave, Aaron and Fred were knowledgeable craftsmen who really knew what they were doing and offered suggestions to make the project look great. I was going to do the work myself, but Iâ m glad I hired these guys. You can tell a real craftsman by how well they take care of their tools, and Daveâ s tool trailer/workshop was the neatest, most organized Iâ ve seen for a contractor. You canâ t go wrong hiring these guys. Iâ ll be using MGC Exteriors when it comes time to rebuild my front porch.

MG Exteriors is exceptional. Michael and his team do great work. I would recommend them for any deck project in the future. I intend to contract with them for my front porch when it needs to be replaced. Michael and his team of Dave, Aaron, and Fred, are talented craftsmen who do great work and had my deck finished quickly, and cleaned up after themselves every day. You can tell great craftsmen by the way they take care of their tools. Dave's tool trailer was clean, neat, and efficient. If you are considering replacing a deck, I highly recommend these guys.

He answered all of my questions, explained why some of my ideas, while possible, were not necessarily cost effective or attractive. We had planned on scheduling for later in the summer but a cancelation allowed us to accelerate our timeline. MG Exterior has what I believe to be a great way of getting materials for their projects- Mike orders needed material, then I called to pay for it. In other words, MG Contracting isn’t padding the cost of materials or hiding extra profit under a “miscellaneous materials” heading Mike, John and Andy showed up on Monday morning on time and ready to get started. The material had been delivered the previous Friday, so they got started without delay. Any project is going to have issues that arise and our deck was no different but Mike made sure I was aware of all issues so there weren’t any surprises when they we done. A little about the construction. MG Exterior Contracting uses a product I had not seen before, Trex tape. They taped the top of every joist and even the cut ends of the 4x8 that hold the deck up. Something I noticed after they were done is that the tape means when you look down, you don’t see black Trex clips and bare wood. The tape basically makes the clips disappear. I could go on and on about how impressed my wife and I with both our new deck and John and Andy and Mike as people and workers but I’ll leave you with this, if I had to build another deck tomorrow, there is no other contractor I would call to have do the work. Michael and his team are prompt and responsive. They showed up for the job when they said they would and all communication was timely.

I met with Mike Gray, owner of MG Exterior Contracting and had him put together a quote on a deck and some abuttment work that needed to be done. He was prompt with the quote and very patient as I made changes and while my wife and I picked colors, railings, etc. He also made multiple visits to drop off samples and help us work through the design process. I had my own ideas but he was very helpful in discussing options. We decided to use MG and soon met John, Brian and Reese. All were curteous and professional when I pointed out something or asked questions. They take pride in their work and the deck came out great. This is not a small investment however I feel it was money well placed as we will enjoy this Trex deck for years to come. Mike did all the paperwork for the warranty and all I have to do is follow up with Trex to get my 25 year product warranty. Well done. I highly recommend Mike and team for commitment to a job well done and good communications. We talked often during the project as I wasn't always there Mike would call and keep me updated or discuss issues with my wife. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed in my opinion.

Mike and his crew from MG Exterior Contracting provided us with an estimate to resurface our deck with Trex decking. After the work was complete, we had some minor repairs fixed. John told us he could replace a step that was not installed to the correct length and install another step where we had originally had one. He said there would be no charge to do it. We tried to call Mike and John to see when they could get the steps installed and received no response to our voice mails or text messages. We only received a response from Mike when we filed a complaint with the BBB. We never got the two steps installed that we were asking about. They also did some repair work on our chimneys. They gave us an estimate for worst case scenario for both chimneys and we paid that amount. Only one chimney needed repair and we asked for some refund and Mike said there was no refund. We are very unhappy with the customer service.
