I contacted KJ's Roofing on the recommendation of a neighbor whose roof they installed last year. After reviewing bids from three companies I decided to go with KJ's Roofing. The bid wasn't the lowest I received but, all things being equal, I wanted to use a local small business, and was interested in the personal attention and service that a smaller company would offer. KJ's did not disappoint. Their crew was prompt and professional. The tear-off was done in one day and the installation of the new roof was basically done the second day, with an hour's work on the third day. The quality of their work is excellent and their services even exceeded what was promised. Jim Odell was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend KJ's roofing.

Extremely excellent service and I recommend them highly. Jim, the owner, personally oversees the work, not every minute but he came by a few times a day, sometimes staying quite a while, while the work was being done.   We changed the type of roofing, which added to the cost, so if Angie's List shows my cost don't use it to compare prices.  Service was very professional, the workers were first class people and installers.  Cleanup was thorough, not like the previous roof's installers.  Prior to replacing the roof they had done several repairs to our old roof (which was installed by another company who never followed up).  Whenever we called to mention we had a leak they came out immediately to do a patch.  They told us then that we were better off patching for a while and replacing later.  The way they responded this was correct.  The way the other company responded we would have had water damage.

It was perfect. They showed up when they said and worked straight through on it. They got it done in a timely manner.

If you're in the market for a new roof, call Jim. He was recommended by our friend who is an architect and is very particular. At first we called Jim to come over and look at a leaky skylight. We were getting huge amounts of rain, so Jim called me back on a Saturday and offered to come take a look to make sure it wasn't causing too much water damage. We asked him for a roof quote and since it was the end of the year, he was able to get an amazing deal on a better quality shingle which probably saved us a good $2,000. When he came to present the bid, he wasn't pushy or sales-y. Instead we felt instantly at easy with him, and knew he would do a quality job.
Jim originally told us the roof would take about 4 days to install, but because of a rare two weeks of good weather and it was the end of the year, it took about 8 days. That was totally fine with us, and Jim was always upfront with his communication. He also made sure he coordinated his work with the gutter contractor, and came back after the gutters were installed to finish up the roof. His crew did a nice job cleaning up each day and were especially careful not to damage our gardens in both the front and back of the house.
We couldn't be more pleased with the quality of work. Yes, you probably can get better deal for cheaper, but we prefer quality workmanship that will last. There's even a 10 year warranty on the workmanship.
If you're looking for a down to earth, helpful, friendly, no BS, quality roofing contractor, he's the person to call. If we had another roof to install, we'd hire him in a minute and have recommended him to our friends.

I had used KJ's roofing for my sons house with no problems so thought I would use them again!
We had to have a full tear off of our old roof and have some repairs to the wood sheeting and a few of the 2x4 beams.
I had them include in our bid this work!
I ended up having to perform the repairs myself as far as the sheeting and 2x4 replacement!
I also asked them and paid them to remove the rock from the fireplace and remove and haul away our old gutters!
I ended up having to do the gutters myself but they did do the rock demo!

crew also damaged our new roof by cutting into it while installing two
of the forgotten roof vents we had requested in the bid.
I also
found the seals around the roof pipe vents were never attached to our
roof and could never get Jim to come back to take care of the items I
have mentioned.
He also took away the extra sheeting I had paid for
as well as the extra roofing shingles. I feel this was theft from us as I
did pay for all they took!
Jim has never returned our e-mails or phone calls to date!!

Since I filed on Angies list Jim with KJ's Roofing contacted us and we were able to resolve the problems they were avoiding!
