I took my 2002 Ford Escape to the Power Ford dealership, Newport for repair issues because of Ford Loyalty. I needed my catalytic converters replaced - (3) at a Power Ford cost of $3500 est... I took it to Steens Motors and got one replaced and 2 repaired for $580. I had 3 coil on plugs replaced for over $300+at the Ford dealership and Stein replaced the other 2 at a much less price. Every time I take anything to this Ford dealership the price is very high. They do good work and I don't have problems afterwards, but they are pricey.
IN 2013 I purchased a 2010 Ford Escape from the state of Washington, a blue blinking light was observed through the side heating vents. I stopped by and asked the (Service Mgr what the blue light stood for He looked into the vehicle and saw the blinking blue light and said it was not a standard item, he didn't know and I should take the vehicle back to the dealership I purchased it at 1000 miles away). I went to Steens they diagnosed the issue within 3 minutes..It was a security issue where you had to use the key fob to lock the door vs the actual key which had a lock button. They said it was standard - blue lights- theft system -flashing to indicate you have to use the key fob. I called Bowen and Scarf Ford dealership in Washington who said the blue light (represented the theft system) was a standard on all Ford Escapes and you had to use the key fob not the button on the actual key to lock doors. They said all Ford dealership know this.
Recently (2-14-2014) I was in a wreck where my tailpipe had been pushed up into the frame. Steen motors had lowered the tail pipe so I could drive it until my insurance carrier approved repairs. The repairs had to be done at Power Collision - so I took it there for a quote before the repairs were approved. Power Collision subcontracts muffler work out to Ocean Tire (who told me the rear half of my tailpipe had to be replaced - got a quote). After the Insurance company approved the claim.. Power Collision relooked at the muffler and then sent it over to Power Ford Service to review. The Master Mechanic felt that the muffler was fine (there was a separation between the metal flanges but the catalytic converter was protected. They didn't need to repair it. This was contrary info to the info I received from Ocean Tire so I met with the Power Ford Service Manager and he put the car up on a hoist and started it. Then I got underneath the vehicle - the muffler wasn't leaking and didn't need any repairs. He was correct - I had my dad with me who has been a master mechanic for 50 years and he agreed with the Service Manager. The Service Manager was professional, polite an courteous.
There is an older gentleman in the parts department who is great!!! They should use him in all there commercials for the dealership. He is polite, friendly, task oriented and economical. He will go out of his way to help you.. He even put in my rear tail light bulb for no cost.
The dealership does good work - the prices are high. They will recommend the full service to fix an item when you may not need all the repairs if you are on a tight budget. There parts department has great customer service.
