CHEHALEM PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

I have dealt with several Property Management companies in the past to lease my residential home, and never had such an unpleasant experience as I did with Property manager and owner Shannon Eoff of Chehalem Property Management. Shannon’s assistant cancelled our first meeting at the property 30 minutes prior to our appointment stating that she had an emergency. We scheduled a subsequent appointment, and Shannon provided the incorrect management agreement. She provided the property agreement for managing the property versus the agreement solely to lease the home. After she finally gave us the correct agreement, she leased our home without discussing it with us. In my several dealings with property management companies, I have never had a property management lease a property without discussing the details of the prospective tenants. Shannon showed the property to two or three prospective tenants and made the sole decision to lease our home. I had to ask Shannon for a copy of the lease agreement, pay stubs, etc. as she was not going to provide it. If you are going to be managing your own property after a management company leases it, it is important that you have this information. Shannon also did not communicate the move in date prior to signing the lease with the tenants. In fact, we had initially told her that we would like the move in date to be August 1 but she went ahead and signed the lease with a July 21 move in date. We had to rush to get the place ready for rent which was not an easy task. A few days before the tenants moved in Shannon stated that she will not be available to conduct the move in. I contacted her and she stated it was due to family reasons that she couldn’t be there but would have one of her associates present. There is definitely an issue with her availability as I called her office and there were times when she was not in due to an emergency or family issue. A few other items, the move in form that Chehalem uses is bare bones meaning that it lacks detail compared to forms that other property management companies use. Shannon also did not ask who we wanted the rental check made out to. I would have preferred it in my name solely. Again, lack of communication or asking from Shannon. Shannon was definitely non attentive, completed shoddy work, and not focused or engaged in her dealings with us. I definitely would not recommend Chehalem Property for your rental needs!
