"This is not an accurate account of this repair. The customers audio card was out, but the computer was also so badly infected with viruses that it was not running. The viruses had to be removed for the computer to even boot properly. I called and explained the situation THOROUGHLY. We tried to just remove the viruses, but the computer was to badly infected that it could not be repaired and warrentied. So I called again and explained that it would need a clean install. We backed up all the old documents and files, and performed a clean install service. After a clean install, if there are any programs that need to be installed, the customer needs to provide the disk and proper serial numbers. If they are not provided, it is the customers responsibility to install those programs themselves. this is the opnly legal way to install programs from a shop. This customer didn't provide any disks and/or serial numbers, and so thats why addition programs were not installed. I tried to be as fair as possible for this customer (as with all my customers). What was supposed to be a simple Audio Card install, turned into a Virus Removal and clean install. I replaced the Audio Card and did several hours of repair work for $105 dollars and stuck to that price. What is really frustrating is that this customer didn't give me a chance to help them with any problems after the repair. They didnt call me. I am a certified technician that has helped 1000's of local customers. I stand by my service and my record of service. I am sorry that this customer didn't give me a chance to help them with any problems they had. I try to make all my customers happy no matter what it takes."
