Budget Rent A Car System Inc

The high deck and lack of ramp complicated the whole operation tremendously. Unfortunately, I had gotten help lined up, so my time frame wasn't very flexible. I called about 20 times, but the office wouldn't pick up. I had noticed the man in the office had a lackadaisical attitude about the company phone while I was picking up the truck. On the other hand, he immediately answered his personal cell phone while I was standing at the counter talking with him. I asked him if the dolly was an appliance dolly, and he assured me it was. It looked slightly odd, but I didn't catch the size problem until I started loading the truck. Neither did I catch the fact that the lower belt had no buckle. Without that belt, the washer and dryer were terribly difficult to keep solidly connected to the dolly. I ended up rigging ropes to replace the belt. I never was able to raise the office again, so I got no support whatsoever with the difficulties. I'd used Budget to rent a truck from Berkeley to Klamath Falls, and it went fine. The equipment was good and the service at both ends was fine, but this Medford office is inept. The man in the office should answer the phone. He should have cautioned me when I told him I was moving appliances that there was no ramp on that truck. Most trucks that size with decks that high have them. He should have checked the hand truck before he loaded it in the truck. It would have been only fair to inform me that the "hand truck" was called a hand truck because it wasn't wide enough to catch the feet of the washer and dryer. I got a board to broaden the base, rigged ropes to replace the bad belt, and got enough help to compensate for the high deck and lack of ramp, so all was moved as planned. But, I will never again rent from Budget's Medford Biddle Rd office. And I will pass the word as to their incompetence.
