GOODNIGHT ROOM

We spent quite some time visiting stores in the Portland area. The goodnight room was probably our 6th stop. The store just felt warm and inviting when we walked in. I also liked many of the cribs they had on display. This was in contrast to some of the other stores where I struggled to find even one that I liked. I liked their choice of bedding and overall presentation of the floor models. I later learned that much of the display bedding was custom-made. Still, it reflected tastes in keeping with mine. The staff was usually helpful but they were not all as well informed. I found one very helpful lady at the downtown store, and another at the Bridgeport store to be very knowledgeable. The rest were attentive but were not very well informed on many of the products. For instance, one person tried to suggest that assembling a crib by myself would be bad because I could do something wrong. I dislike fear-mongering and did not care for the tone of that. Aside from that one incident, the rest of the employees were very chill and easy-going. We ordered a crib from them (Bonavita's Peyton crib in chestnut - $300) and it arrived at their warehouse earlier than expected, they called me and the pickup was painless. I assembled it myself and had no trouble with doing that. We then decided to also customize the bedding, since we really liked the floor model bedding in their stores - Broadway and Bridgeport. One of the store agents helped us with the whole process and had some very good ideas for the pattern to use. It was a pleasure ordering through them. Cost of bedding - $450. I realize we could have saved some money here but we felt like splurging on this front. I would not say that their prices cannot be beaten, but the value-for-money proposition that they provided us was definitely the best that we could find. I liked the fact that, for the most part, they did not try to get us to pick all the stuff from their store (although we ended up doing that). They encouraged us to look around and be happy with our pick. I loved that about them. Great local store.
