In the end, Matt Ries installed a good system at a reasonable price. However, getting there was not always easy. More so than the other contractors I had working on the house, I had to stay after Matt to get him to complete each phase within a reasonable timeframe. When I had a deadline, they would often end up having to work late into the night to finish the task. Granted, they did finish, but at each phase they pushed the schedule to its limits. Two main problems: (1) they had too many jobs going at once and (2) Matt is not as organized as he should be. When the job was just getting started, a different person came each time, spent just a couple hours (enough time to just figure out what needed to be done), and then left (to go to another job). Next time, the new person had to start all over - with little communication from the last person who was here. It was a fixed price job for me, so I didn't have to pay for this inefficiency, but it made progress slow. Matt gets a B (good grade), though, for his willingness to work late into the night and on weekends in order to get done on time, rather than just leave me in a lurch.
