We hired Western Paver Design to redo our backyard. I was referred them by two different people in my neighborhood. I obtained multiple estimates but decided to go with WPD based on the personal recommendations as well as Joe being so friendly and knowledgeable during the estimate. He answered all of my questions, provided his expertise and input on what would work or not, and gave a fair and competitive price. Joe created a wonderful plan for our backyard based on what we wanted. He took our “wants” and ran with it. Darwin led his team with Marteen and Modesto to complete the plan and make our backyard our dream backyard. They were incredible to work with. They came and removed all of the sod that was already there. (It was installed incorrectly and looked terrible) the raised the backyard and leveled it all out and built a retaining wall around the whole yard. They installed a large paver patio (roughly 13x18) and then next to that a large turf are, about the same size. Along the house they built a small deck area to be level with the turf and against the house. This was nice so there was no large drop off area, being a hazard for the kids. On the other side of the retaining wall they built me two large raised garden beds As well. I cannot rave enough about Darwin, Marteen, and Modesto, and Joe! They were a pleasure to work with! They were professional and friendly and worked so hard each day they were here. They transformed our yard into exactly what we wanted-a large area for entertaining and BBQing, a nice turf area for the kids, and garden beds for me to grow vegetables! The end result is everything we could have imagined!

Simply put....The most amazing contractors and service I have dealt with in my life. In my experience and all the companies I have come in contact with from building houses, renovating and upscaling, Western Paver Design is by a long shot Portlands best. Take my word for it...They exude the term detailed oriented and the absolute definition of precision. They go above and beyond and all along the way communicate through the whole build. We bought a new construction home and the backyard was just a big area of bark chips. We were looking to extend our concrete patio, put in grass or turf and a few planter boxes on the side. Joe Fisher gave us a competitive estimate for our project. We also had some other landscaping companies come out for bids, but we went with Western Paver Design because they are contractors, not just landscapers, and we got a good feeling that they would give us a beautiful backyard that we would love. They absolutely came through. Darwin and his crew worked for less than a week to transform the yard. They added a beautifully paved patio to our existing concrete patio, doubling the space. They installed a big swath of turf which looks very realistic and feels very soft. And in our side yard they created a beautiful dry river bed with varying-sized rocks, built three planter boxes, and planted a gorgeous maple tree and some bushes. Joe and Darwin were in regular communication with us to make sure the project turned out as desired. The crew took a panel out of our fence to have easy access to our yard and they put it back in and cleaned up everything when they were done. We couldn’t be happier.

Start to finish went like clock-work. The estimator showed up at a time most convenient to us, walk the job and had some suggestions. Gave us a preliminary cost and followed up the next business day with a formal written proposal, as accurate as his preliminary cost. We approved the job on a Wednesday and sent the agreement with our down payment on Thursday. They started work on Monday and though the original estimate was for it to take three to four days they completed the project Tuesday night. The two workman were great, worked hard and left the site clean at the end of the day. We are thrilled with the finished project and are meeting with them soon to discuss our next project.

We did a walkway around the house, they were very professional and did a great job. I'd recommend them to anyone who needs paver work done, right and on budget!

The work was better than expected. They had to build a couple retaining walls and even installed drains so there would be no standing water. They left my job cleaner than when they got there. The workers did a great job and we're very respectful.
