This last year (2014), we watered extra and were constantly raking pine needles off our back lawn as recommended by our technician. Our front looked great and finally was the nicest on the block. Our back lawn barely came back from the winter though and did not recover fully and green up even by the end of the summer despite the Scott's treatments.
Then at the end of summer, directly in the center of our front lawn we had a large area die. Large chunks of lawn were being pulled away easily by the lawnmower and even just by walking on the lawn. When we investigated we could easily see white worms/grubs of some kind. The lawn guy had just treated our yard and when I checked the invoice it did not contain an insecticide so we called and asked Scotts to send the guy back out. They did this and he treated the lawn again for free. My husband had also treated the lawn with some insecticide we had in the shed because he felt it was a severe infestation and could not delay treatment until Scotts returned. So the lawn was treated twice.
Over the fall and winter the front lawn has slowly improved but still does not look great and the compromised areas are obvious. The back lawn is affectionately called our "mud pit" as the lawn is barely hanging on after a difficult last summer. We still struggle to keep the pine needles off it and we do have a dog that is on it, but I have been very unhappy with Scot's results here.
This year (2015) is the reason why I have only just today canceled my service. Scotts rolled over my service so when they were coming I just assumed it was still from the services I had already prepaid. I am not a fan of rolling over services without a verbal okay from a customer. Seems like a sneaky trick to me. Also, they applied lyme to my yard. In the past I thought lyme was a white powder though I am told now it is a brown granule. There is no powder or visible granules to be seem on my lawn. They did offer to come and retreat my lawn with lyme if I would agree to remain a customer, They also offered to give me the discounted price I have had in previous years if I stayed. Please look at the photos of my lawn to know why I declined both offers. I cannot continue to have mediocre results for $400/year. (I only paid $110 for this year because I canceled early).
They only work in the front yard because we don't have a lawn in the back yard.
They are attentive each month and leave a report on our door after they are done.
We don't need to be home when they come.

"Thank you so much for your valuable feedback. We are happy to hear that you felt overall TruGreen did a nice job during your services with us, and that we were always polite, professional and easy to work with, as you have stated in your review. We regret that you cancelled, but we understand that you have moved on, however, if you ever would like to return to TruGreen, we would love to have you back. Thank you. Lisa @ TruGreen Corporate Office."
I do think they are a bit pricey for what you get. I recently changed to a lawn service and am getting much more for my money. I am also seeing a noticeable improvement in my lawn with the lawn service.
"We greatly apologize for the issues you experienced while with us, regarding the situation that occurred with sales, and that customer service expectations were not met through your local branch. We understand that you have cancelled and moved on, but if you wish to discuss further, you may reach us at [email protected]. Thank you again for taking the time to post your review as we truly value all feedback."
