This was the third time we’ve used Shepard Painting and again, we couldn’t have been happier with the results. Justin’s crew always pays great attention to detail in the preparation prior to painting, including covering plants and patio. Justin provided a detailed estimate and contract after a walk-around inspection and discussing our concerns. We had some window repair prior to painting and Justin worked with our schedule so that painting began the week following the repairs. After the painting was complete, a crew showed up the next day for any touch-up required and Justin did another walk-around with us to make certain the job was completed to our satisfaction. The crew cleaned up the site daily and Justin was in daily communication with us to address any problems or concerns. This is a very professionally run company and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Justin and his crew did an amazing job turning our 130 year old home into a spot where people stop to ask who did the work. I've recommended him to several friends who are planning to paint soon. He provided us with a contract that clearly listed everything we needed done and they did it all and a bit more. His bid was not the lowest but I knew the other bids included only painting and we needed carpentry done for the job to be a success long term. He was great about stopping by often, responding promptly to any question we had about our project. Carpenters from the company replaced rotten siding, rebuilt the front pillars in the house and added flashing to all the windows. His painting crew took special care with the blackberry and raspberry plants near the house, reattached storm windows (which was a challenge as a few had come apart when removed by a different company that had done the lead paint removal) while painting four beautiful colors. I would definitely hire this company again.

It went very well on both houses! The paint crews were very considerate, safe, cleaned up after every day's work, and did a stellar job. The two homes had different crews too. Very well. Justin helped locate the company that removed the paint for us. His own crew was excellent. Although a lot of the work was done when the weather was poor, they showed up whenever they could and completed the job as quickly as possible. They were excellent communicators.

In the course of a remodel the painter I hired fell far below expectations, especially on the wood trim. Seeking a remedy, I called Justin Shepard of Shepard Painting. Though in the full swing of exterior season, he found a way to help with my interior by rearranging the schedule to enable me to meet a deadline.
His painters were true craftsmen who transformed the trim into satin elegance and did a superior job on the walls as well. Their work was careful, precise and they even created a solution to a tricky problem area on my stairwell.They were always on time and very professional. they obviously take pride in their work.
Customer service was exceptional, with Justin personally supervising the project to make sure that my expectations were met. Craftsmanship and service is a winning combination that seems to be rare these days. They are the hallmark of Shepard Painting, Justin and his crew.

Our prior inexpensive paint job unfortunately lasted only about 4 years before giving up and allowing water to penetrate the cracked stucco finish applied over the top of a brick building. We were looking for someone to correct the mistakes of the first attempt. Joshua came twice to inspect the facades and provided a detailed bid with a generous warrantee to back up their workmanship. Although the bid was a bit higher than we had hoped, upon closer examination he proposed to do a very thorough job. In the end, the strong warrantee convinced us that he was confident his crew up to the task.
They began by hand-scraping and power grinding any loose material from the open cracks and then followed the paint shop specs by using approved caulking, a thick elastomeric primer and two top coats of acrylic paint. Between coats Joshua kept stopping by to check on the former leak inside and even went back for some additional crack repair before finishing the job to make sure the new coating was watertight.
The job site was kept clean and tidy throughout the project and we are much more confident of the durability of this work over the short prep and thin coats of the last paint job.
Although it is perhaps too early to comment on the performance of this coating, I would definitely recommend Shepard Painting going forward based on their professionalism and attention to detail.

We were looking for painters and carpenters to perform an upgrade to our house. We had already took estimates from 3 contractors, which were not very detailed. Big Red Flag!! We contacted Shepard and they returned a detailed, thorough estimate that we felt we really captured what we wanted to do. Their service also included a Color Consultation which was invaluable to making our final decision on color schemes.
Their crew was friendly and easy to work with with. The carpentry work was exceptional. Painting preparation was very detailed and took quite a bit of time, which is a very good indication of pride that they take in their work.
The end result is superb!! I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a Contractor that really cares about satisfied customers.

They were responsive. They were excellent in problem solving. My house was built in 1895 and there are bound to be surprises when people go to paint a house that old and there were but they worked with us really closely to be in communication to problem solve things like dry rot on the boards on the house. They brought a team out to make sure it was still finished on time. They gave me an hour of historic paint consultation as a part of the package. Their pricing was slightly higher than another bid but they were willing to negotiate. Their quality was superior. It is a year later and it is expected to last for years to come. They were willing to come and do estimates on weekends or call at anytime of the day. They are extremely responsive.

Excellent job of communication from beginning to end of job. Justin and/or Joshua always returned our calls within an hour. They were willing to address any questions or concerns, and that extended to the end of the process when we negotiated the final settlement in a fair and balanced way.
The crew was really experienced with careful prep and attention to detail with painting. There was dry rot that was discovered once the job started. Carlos, the head painter, did amazing carpentry work including jacking up our house to remove a column so the base could be rebuilt. He also addressed rotting shed doors and siding that needed replacement. It was a real bonus to have a crew that were professional painters but also could handle the carpentry. It was very important to us that the gardens be protected, which they were. Carlos and the crew even built platforms above some of the plants so they wouldn't have to step in the gardens while painting the siding. The crew was friendly, worked long hours and cleaned up carefully at the end of every day.
C.J. Hurley Color Consultants were recommended by Justin and Joshua when we couldn't decide on color. The end result is gorgeous. All these factors made hiring Shepard Painting a real pleasure. We highly recommend the company for painting with excellent results.
The repainting after delamination occurred (due to weather) went great. The window of time that we requested to have the work done was honored. The job was completed in a day with the crew who did the original work, which we appreciated, as they are super good painters and very friendly. We were very satisfied with the work. Shepard Painting holds to their warranty!

Great job on a tight schedule (the rains were threatening)! The crew was very attentive to detail and considerate of the plantings. The crew lead, Eloi, was always there and always on top of things -- communicating with us as to their plans for the day, requesting our input and following up on any corrections or missed items that we noticed (they were few). Their work was top quality and it looks terrific!
Joshua made sure that any changes to the initial contract were documented and followed so there were no misunderstandings . After the weather permitted, they came back and painted a second chimney that was missed. Justin gave us valuable color recommendations that helped us in our decisions.
We would recommend this team and have already done so to our neighbors and friends.

When I asked for an estimate, Justin pulled up an old estimate he had created for our next-door neighbor's house thinking it was the same address as ours. Their house is smaller than ours and doesn't require as much prep work and doesn't have as much trim to paint. It has a garage and ours doesn't, which is what made me think something was amiss with the estimate. I think he may have underestimated the time required to paint our house and then cut corners to try and save his costs. We had to have some woodwork repaired before they could start painting and that process was delayed by another contractor, which caused the whole project to be delayed. They started scraping the old paint in August or September and put some primer on the house before the rains started in October. They weren't able to work on the house again until May because it was too wet. So the house sat through the winter with just primer on it. Our neighbors thought that was the color we had chosen. They finished painting in May or June of 2012. Their service includes complimentary color consulting with CJ Hurley, which is a nice feature. That was very helpful to us in choosing colors. Some of the film that they put on the windows to protect them from paint was left on the windows after they told me the job was complete. This was really obvious on the dining room windows where it looked like condensation on the insides of the windows. They completely missed removing the film off one of the basement windows. All the doors were supposed to be red but they painted the screen doors yellow. Since the screen doors cover the regular doors it is important that they be painted red. I asked Justin to come back and fix these few things and he said they would be there within a week but they never showed up. Eventually I scraped the film off the dining room windows myself. Three months after they finished the paint was already peeling in a few places on the porch.

Justin and his crew were absolutely phenomenal. The Shepard Painting service begins with a 1 hour appointment with a professional color consultant if necessary. This was very important for us as we wanted to make substantial color changes, but wanted to stay within historical color schemes. No other painting company we had bid the job offered this professional assistance and the end result of body color and trim are literally having cars stop on the street asking for the name of our painter and the colors. The painting crews were beyond efficient, neat in their work and extremely gracious to us as the homeowners. I honestly can't see one bit of overspray, spills, drips or drops anywhere. They were on time every day...worked hard and completed the job from scraping to touch-up in only about 5 days. We asked Justin to do a couple of small 'time and materials' add-ons that we hadn't thought about in the original bid (the porch ceiling and an antique metal porch swing that we had sprayed to match the front door) and he did so at a very reasonable cost. We are extremely pleased with this company and would be delighted to refer Shepard Painting to anybody.

A very good experience. The attention to detail was beyond what any other painting estimate included. They were very careful to protect windows, rock work, plants, roofing, etc. While it may have taken 2 or 3 days longer than others might have, it was worth it to get the detail. Justin Shepard [Shepard Painting] is obviously in business to stay in business. Included in our pricing was a consult with Barbara Pierce [CJ Hurley Century Arts]. Barbara brought out the tudor style of our house with colors we would never have thought to use. We are extremely happy with the result and the neighbors have told us they love it. We recommend Justin Shepard and Barbara Pierce without reservation.

Overall it went very well. I had worked with Shepard Painting before and had a good experience. We are a very detail oriented company so really wanted a nice job that would not impact our customers in a negative way. Their crews were very professional, fast, neat. Its easy to get that kind of service on a 30k job but a couple of months later when I just needed one day of painting Justin and team were equally responsive and sent out a great crew. Big and small jobs well done.

"We love working for Rejuvenation. We painted the interior of the store on SE Grand Ave. (Also the exterior of their factory in NW) Just about everything! This was a challenge since we did this during business hours. Additionally (as you probably know) Rejuvenation is a expensive upscale home store. Just one rouge drop of paint would cost hundreds of dollars (if not more) on any piece of merchandise. We expertly performed our tasks without interfering with customers or damaging even one piece of property. It was a complicated project that we completely enjoyed. Go see the results! It went well.They were neat and punctual. The price was fair for the amount of taping off and detailed work that they did. The finished result was great. My neighbors couldn't stop complimenting us on how great it looked. They cleaned up everyday, the yard was left clean, you wouldn't even know they had been there working. A great crew of workers. I highly recommend Justin and his guys.

The bid was reasonable for the amount of work required to paint the home. Our house dates to 1910, and it probably hadn't been painted in over 20 years. Justin's team did an excellent job of prepping the exterior, including power washing the entire house, scrapping loose and flaking paint, caulking seams (30 cartridges I believe!), and patching broken tiles. The paint used is extremely high quality, as is the overall paint job. We get positive comments almost daily from our neighbors and others passing through the neighborhood on how great the house looks. I should also mention that the consultation Shepard Painting provided with Barbara Pierce & CJ Hurley Centruy Arts was extremely useful. Barbara and CJ provided us with some excellent ideas on choosing the proper color scheme based on our initial thoughts, as well as provided great suggestions for details we hadn't thought of (foundation color, porch color, etc). This consultation along with the high-quality Sherwin Williams paint Shepard used was a winning combination! The only misstep we had during the painting process was peeling of the paint on both our doors and front porch after the painting was completed. This was due to the presence of many layers of old oil-based paint that had essentially oxidized and began to peel when the new acrylic paint was applied. Unfortunately, this required stripping and sanding both the doors and porch to remove all paint, and then repainting both. It would have saved quite a bit of time and effort if the potential issues of the old underlying paint had been pointed out to us before the initial painting was done on the house. That said, Shepard Painting offered to repaint both the porches and doors at no cost, even though the contract clearly stated that porches were not covered under warranty. To their credit, I believe this showed good business integrity by Shepard painting. To date, the house still looks great. We couldn't be happier with the way the painting turned out. We would definitely consider using Shepard Painting again in the future.
