Scooby Shack

I have been using Scooby Shack for a few years now. After the place I started using went out of business, I investigated many local dog daycare sites by dropping by, talking with the staff, and observing the them during business hours. I was the most impressed with Scooby Shack as they take the time to properly assess each dog to make sure they will be OK in this environment.( it takes a few shorter visits ) I feel I made a great choice. From the friendly staff to the clean facility, I am never concerned for my dog's well being. It is nice that they have a large area that is open to the outdoors and an indoor area for the smaller dogs, that way my dog gets a little of both throughout the day. My dog definitely likes going there as he pulls on the lease to go in. I have never used the overnight boarding, but someday I will. I like the fact that the dogs aren't kenneled up at night and a staff member is in with the dogs all night ( not just somewhere on site )

After several required visits for temperament assessment well ahead of our overnight stay, we were approved for overnight stay for our dog. With a reservation made over 6 weeks in advance for the high demand Spring Break week, we just happened to arrange another stay for our dog just 1 week prior. Scooby Shack decides now to reject our dog and cancel our reservation. The reason was not 100% clear to me, but involved a concern they had for him panting too much. We also know that at least one person we happen know (long time Scooby Shack customer) was able to get squeezed in to an appointment for the same time period. Just a word of caution for anyone who might be considering being a new customer - no issue with quality of service (just like many other alternative folks like the great service we ultimately got at Sniff Hotel in Portland as the last minute alternative), just realize this experience may happen to you at a critical time as a new client vs. existing clients. For additional background in terms of the dogs temperament or issues, I have had no issues reported (and we ask) for any prior overnights OR on the 7 night stay our dog ultimately had at Sniff Hotel. And they have a neat Webcam you can see your dog play and check up on him!

Love these people. My Dane has been going there since she was 10 months old. She is now 3. They do an exceptional job of screening dogs for disposition so I have always been confident my girl will have a good experience there. Some may find it funny to worry about such a big dog but this breed is often targeted for aggression by other dogs just because they are so large. I always know she will be well cared for and have a good time there. She goes once a week for two to three hours.

We took our dog in for a nail trim and it was very tramatic for our dog. First, the tech wanted to use clippers when we specifically chose Scooby Shack for the grinding service. The tech had some commentary about them being loud and that she didn't like them. We asked her to use them as our dog doesn't mind and has her's done every 3 weeks or so. I was asked to hold the dog while she trimmed the nails while the dog was on the floor. This experience clearly upset the dog and was uncomfortable for all involved. We've had our dogs groomed for years and we should have left before the nails were finished. Perhaps the tech was having a bad day but this was not comparable to the services we've received from other groomers. We will not be taking our pets back.

We have used scooby shack for about 6 months now both for daycare and kenneling. We've had nothing but positive experiences. They really seem to care about the dogs (and reggie is always enthusiastic to arrive there!). Definitely recommend them.

They were just terrific. When we came back the dogs were more socialized and were really happy. They staff was very friendly and you could tell they loved dogs. We felt very comfortable leaving our dogs there. We were able to call them everyday while we were gone and they gave us great feedback. I would highly recommend them.

We've been bringing our dog to Scoobie Shack for several months now for grooming, and have been extremely pleased with the service. As importantly, our dog doesn't strain his leash to go in any direction other than the front door.....he loves to be groomed there!

They are just AWESOME!

The folks at the Scooby Shack take a personal interest in each of the dogs who are there. The facility is cleverly designed, with plenty of room for the dogs to run around and play, while still providing spots for the less-energetic dogs who simply want to hang out. The place is spotless, and it is clear our dogs were well-cared-for, as they didn't come out smelling bad or like they were sprayed with that stuff to make you think they didn't get dirty. They smelled clean and like themselves! We love the folks at the Scooby Shack, and so did our usually-clingy dogs. In fact, one of our whippets would PULL to get in the door, with his tail wagging wildly. Even our shy, easily frightened greyhound came out of his shell when it was time to go there, and the photos show how relaxed and happy he was when he was there. . If you are looking for a great dog daycare where your dog will be loved and pampered at a very reasonable price, the Scooby Shack is the place.
