The work was done on time, on budget. The crew that showed up were helpful, and had good attitudes. I will absolutely use them again.

I had a wonderful experience with PDX Electric. PDX Electric arrived on time for their quote, installed a new circuit at a date that worked for both of us (properly permitted and up to code) and eliminated a safety concern where an addition prior to our ownership had 20 outlets and 3 light fixtures on it. They found a junction box in the attic where it was clear/safe to split the circuit and put in a new run to the master bedroom. They inspected the existing and new circuit. For added safety I also had them install Arc Fault detection breakers (AFCI) which is new code for bedrooms.
Was very professional. Dressed professionally and introduced himself and company. Told him what I needed done and went right to work. Work I had done in house he used shoe covers. Told me how long it would take and he was right on the money. Was extremely neat and took away old light fixtures for me. I would recommend this company anytime and will use them again.
I am very impressed with PDX Electric and will use them again also will recommend them to everyone.
"[Member name removed] called PDX Electric out to confirm that there was enough power to her detached garage. After asking [member name removed] what items she would be using in her garage, she told me "a space heater". She went on to say, that she and her next door neighbor, took another neighbors dog in, because that neighbor unexpectedly passed away. She would be watching the dog during the day, while her next door neighbor was at work. [Member name removed] didn't want the dog to get cold..... You really made my day with your generosity and kindness. PDX Electric loves animals and would never think of charging a customer with such kind intentions. Thank you, Marty PDX Electric"
Kenny did a great job getting everything right. He even went above and beyond after he was finished by helping with a separate electrical issue. He had another job to get to, but sent a co-worker out later who diagnosed and fixed the problem. I will recommend these guys to anyone who needs electrical help, and will certainly use them in the future.
Thanks again PDX Electric!
They checked the box, and the outside electrical lines and assured us that the work had been done correctly, and saw that the dryer had not been installed correctly - even though the store had supposedly checked that already! Replaced two breakers (said they had been tripped many times over the last 10 days and needed to be replaced), secured the electrical cord from dryer and it works. We are new to the area and brand new to Angie's List - when they realized we did not get our first time discount they sent us a check. We asked for a bid on two projects and they were very prompt. We are still gathering bids so don't know if we will go with them. The only question I forgot to ask them was the cost of the permit - my understanding is that it is $45 for minor work permit, they charged $65 maybe because we didn't have to do any paperwork ourselves? I wish I got paid $135.00 an hour but everyone says that is pretty average. We contacted the store and told them what happened and they are giving us a credit for the cost of the repair visit. Anyway will definitely use PDX again if needed.
Marty came on time and was both friendly and knowledgeable. He was patient with all my questions and had a "can do attitude" about the work that needed to be done. He was timely with emailing us his estimate of my lengthy "wish list" and broke the work down, as discussed, so that we might decide which items to put off to another time, etc. While waiting for the estimate, we had another reputable company come out and they were equally professional, knowledgeable, friendly and timely but their estimate was significantly higher for the same work (additionally they seemed to charge for ticky tac things like a daily charge to drive over, and they tried to work the free estimate into actual work. When I insisted that I was looking for an estimate in order to fairly compare the different companies, they scheduled an estimator to come before his shift started), and they were wishy washy about some of the work -basically saying that if it can be done, it could cost this much or left the cost unsaid. I emailed Marty with some minor questions that arrose when comparing the estimates and to say that we would like him to do the work. I had not heard from him and emailed again to see if he got the correspondence and to say that I was getting calls from the other electricians and needed to know if he was still interested. He got back to me and we scheduled a date to do the work. I had questions about what we should have ready to do the work (type of closet lights to install, can light, kitchen light, etc) and there was a delayed response on that too but everything was figured out and ready the day that the work was done.
Cory, Kenny and Dave arrived early to my house and prepared what they needed outside before coming to my door at my appointment time. They worked off Marty's list and did a walk through with me. All 3 men worked together to get the work done from what I remember being around 8:30 am to almost 5 pm. They put up with my joking about having a home birth because they came on my due date. When my daughter needed to come downstairs after a nap, one of them offered to carry her down the stairs, since they had laid a drop cloth on the stairs and didn't want me to go into labor. They were great guys and we are very happy with their work. They cleaned up after themselves and communicated well when they had questions/ran into obstacles, asking my preference on different things -which I really appreciated.
The specific work that was done included: getting our doorbell to work that randomly stopped working years ago (they provided the new doorbell), fixing a pull chain kitchen light that stopped working years ago, routed an existing outlet so that it wasn't connected to a random basement light to function, added 2 exterior outlets, 1 main level outlet, 3 upper level outlets, 3 basement outlets, wiring for 2 wall sconces upstairs, installed a can light from a tight attic space, installed 2 closet lights with switches, and moved/replaced an above the stairs light to center it over the stairs. Included in the $2478 cost was the wall mounted electric heater, outlets with switch plate covers, on/off switches, etc. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost (I anticipated needing a new electrical panel to accomodate all the additions) and was able to get my entire electrical wish list completed in one day. I wish that we had had the work done years ago.
We will definately use PDX Electric again.
The only issue I had was when I hooked up our new hottub to the newly installed outlet. The ground plug was on the top side of plug where my GFCI cord unit had the ground pin on bottom. No fault to electrician as he didn't see plug from tub during installation. I simply shut off power and reversed orientation of outlet inside exterior approved outlet box.
All communications were prompt, friendly and professional. Enjoyed working with everyone.
