We hired Dawn Meaney as our selling/listing agent after meeting her at another house she was the listing agent for. She was also helping us search for a new home. At first we really liked her. She?s extremely personable, well spoken and fun to be with. That said, our frustrations with her work style were immediate. For example, signing paperwork was saved until the very last minute; there were typos and factual errors in marketing materials she produced (done at last minute); we had to remind her about things that needed to be done; she did not return emails in a timely manner - the best way to get a hold of her was texting, and that was sometimes spotty as well; she often was not available for showing houses, leaving it instead to her partner Steve whom we were unclear what their relationship was (he most often was the one who responded to emails sent to her address, so you never knew who you were talking to). After having a talk with her once expressing our frustrations with her lack of communication and attention to detail, we saw some positive change but not to our comfort level - so we eventually we let her go and went with another agent. (The final straw was when we were expecting to have an offer come in on the home; it was well past time when she said she would update us; we texted to find out what was going on (as we often had to do) and she texted - not called - back to let us know it had fallen through.) Dawn went on to become the buying agent of our home, representing a couple whom she had shown our house to when she was representing us. She used previous offer information she had as our agent to help inform the offer the couple made on our home, and then argued against the selling price of our house as a fair price...a price that she had once told us that it was worth when she represented us. When questioned about that from our current agent, she indicated to him that she never really thought our house was worth that range. She also called us directly after we had a new agent to let us know the couple would likely be making an offer and expressing frustration that we had let her go because the transaction would be easier otherwise. Her lack of attention to detail came through again when her clients offered us a rent-back in their initial offer at a certain amount per day. Through negotiations back and forth, as the purchase price offer was going up - Dawn never advised her clients that they should increase the rent-back amount accordingly to cover their mortgage. It was after the sale was complete that we were approached by Dawn and her clients/the new owners, asking us to increase our rent to cover their mistake (though of course it was not presented that way). We liked Dawn so much initially that we went against our better judgement in checking any references. That was our mistake. What I?ve described here is just a taste of the frustrations we experienced. The way she conducted business as the buying agent of our home was borderline unethical - if not absolutely unethical. At the time this all happened she was with John L. Scott out of West Linn, and is now with Soldera Properties. If you are thinking of working with Dawn, I recommend considering other agents.
Description of Work: Represented us as the listing agent for our home. Represented us as a buying agent. Later, we worked with her through our listing agent when she became the buying agent for our home.
