"Hello Mr. [Member Name Removed], You brought your Honda Accord in for service 25 months ago for a check engine light diagnosis, oil smoke from the engine/tailpipe, and a check over of the vehicle. We did multiple tests on the vtec system, the solenoid was intermittently going inoperative, which takes multiple test drives and scans, servicing the vanos would not have cured the problem. The code was absent when you came to pick up the vehicle because it is routine procedure to reset the Main ECU and retest the system for an actual correct diagnosis . Our scan and diagnostic computer is a $20,000 state of the art diagnostic tool. We can actually track and test each system component while the vehicle is running. Wont get that with the typical auto parts guy with a $50 code reader. The smoke coming from your vehicle was actually from engine oil and coolant dripping onto the exhaust system. Radiator seam was leaking and front engine oil seals and the valve cover gasket, all very common with this particular honda engine at that mileage. your engine at that time had 132,865 miles. Everyone here at Dan's is very honest and professional. If they weren't, they would not be employed here. We were very up front and honest about what your vehicle needed at the time. What can and can't wait. Bottom line is we spent 2 hours checking over your vehicle and charged you nothing. It would be nice to know why you wrote this review 2 years later. Thanks to all the other Angie's list members who continue to refer their friends and family to Dan's Auto Center Ethan Micich-Owner"

"Hello [member name removed] and thanks for the excellent review. It really helps to know that we are providing you with the kind of quality service and repairs needed to keep you as a customer for life!"
I found Dan's Auto Center on Angie's List and called for an appointment for an inspection. They had an opening the next morning. I told the service writer what i wanted, and what I had been told was wrong with my car. Their mechanic t it for a test drive and he found the problem. The steering was fine and yes, the oil pan leaked and the metal to metal noise was coming from the backing plate that had been bent and was rubbing against the brake rotor. He straightened the backing plate. The service was great, they got me in quickly and the price was very reasonable. I plan to use them for my auto service in the future and will recommend them to friends. Thank you.

I’ve been using Dan’s Auto Center for some time for maintenance on our 1992 Chrysler Town and Country van. I’d been to dealers for years after the warranty was out with very unsatisfactory results. One particular ongoing problem involved our power steering. It was sticking and emitting a loud groan when initiating any turns – it was especially bad in cold weather and unsettled my wife (who is the primary driver of this vehicle). This would be an on and off thing for years, going to the dealership and having no resolution. I finally gave up. After many more years/miles and many more repair disappointments, we decided to find another shop. After hearing friends talk about Dan’s and reading reviews here, I took the car for repairs. I was pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail and the courteous and honest approach. When I took the car in for service the second time, I finally broached the subject of the power steering, thinking it was worth a try. They repaired it and all was well for a month or so and then the symptoms began reappearing (which was actually better than other dealer attempts where the sticking and noise literally returned the day after I got the car back). After having spent years trying to resolve this, I just figured it was the nature of the beast and let it go – it was better but still an irritant. Fast forward at least 8 or 9 months…I needed some more service, and while making the appointment, I mentioned that the power steering issue had reappeared and while originally better, was now getting worse again. I fully expected (and would have understood) that waiting that long before saying anything about the initial repair would negate any back claim. Without any argument whatsoever, Chris (I believe) immediately said he would take a look at it and see if he could figure it out. I was called back later that day and informed that they were doing more research and needed the car another day. Chris called the next day and said that after researching the original Chrysler repair bulletin on that issue (which was the basis for the original repair) Chris was able to find quite a deep Chrysler repair history on the power steering for that model and as a result found 2 or 3 more bulletins that outlined a series of additional fixes. I was then informed that all the repairs had been completed, and since they had missed the additional bulletins, all parts and labor were covered under their warranty (several hundred dollars!) I was stunned. I’ve been the CEO of a public company for many years and was proud of the many national customer service awards we had won and always tried to ensure that our service was as legendary as the stories we heard about Nordstrom’s. It was absolutely refreshing to find someone who practiced what they preached! Incidentally, it’s been summer and winter now and the power steering has never performed better! I’ve read some other less flattering reviews from those who no doubt feel their grievances are valid…and they might be. However, I have to say that my own experience has been consistently great. I like the fact that I can talk to the mechanic if I need to and don’t have to wade through a bureaucratic nightmare to get past the “service manager”. I like the fact that a mechanic has gone out with me on a 20 minute drive to try and isolate a particularly difficult-to-trace noise. I like the fact I don’t have to go back repeatedly to have work redone (and when I did, in this example, it was an incredible experience!) I sincerely recommend giving them a try!
So, I guess I can't trust Dan's. Last time I'll go there.
"Our brake pad percentages are based on a measurement tool and visual inspection, I would like to know if Les Schwab removed all 4 tires and checked inner and outer pad wear as we did. We strive to provide our customers with information on how to maintain their vehicle for safety and to avoid more coslty future repair."
